Getting a AAA rate room?

Do I have to book through AAA for the special rate or do I just have to be a AAA member and show my card upon check in for the rate. I understand that there is a 15% discount on rooms during regular season, that is what I am looking for until the AP rates come out.

Thanks

You don't have to book through AAA, but you do need to ask for the AAA rate when you book the room. Just remember, there are only a certain number of rooms available at the AAA rate for each resort so you might want to book as soon as possible to assure you get the discount.

You will also find that sometimes you will be told that no AAA rooms are available. Make your reservation anyway and keep calling. Disney releases more rooms later on so you should be able to get the AAA rate at some point.

From what I've read on this board, the AAA rates vary greatly. It seems that people who are staying in Deluxe resorts are saving a TON, while people staying in Value resorts are reporting very small discounts. This makes sense, since the overall cost of the room is so much less.

I think it's worth checking into. I wanted the DDP, so I thought I was going to have to book through Disney directly. Once I realized that I could still get the DDP through AAA I gave them a call. I was purchasing about the cheapest package possible...three nights hotel in a value resort with DDP, plus 4-day MYW tickets without hopper. The grand total after taxes that I was quoted through Disney was $1,133. The grand total I paid AAA was $1,073. The discount was only $60 and I had to pay $60 for the 14-month AAA membership, but I'm not complaining. I look at it as being 14-months of worry-free driving at no cost to me.

My guess is that it would be difficult to get a AAA discount that is LESS than what I got, unless the rooms are all booked up. If you're flexible about where you stay, you should be able to get a AAA rate all the time. I say this because I'm traveling during peak season (3/26 - 3/29) and I only booked my reservations 2 days ago! AAA had discounted rooms available at every one of the value hotels. I didn't check the moderate or deluxe hotels.

I booked using a AAA discount for my trip.
You can book "room only" and call CRO and book just the room and request the AAA discount (if they have inventory in that rate type). I saved quite a bit on the room only rate. I also called my local AAA office and got a quote on a package through AAA it too saved me some $$$. I am booking deluxe but I also got a quote on a mod package and both saved about the same amount.

I had my AAA travel agent take care of booking everything for me when I went to POFQ last year. It was SO EASY.. she was SO FRIENDLY.. and I dealt with her only.. had her private #... great rates... it was really nice and she offered great tips and from what I hear, some AAA agents send extra goodies with your package :goodvibes

2 weeks ago I booked rooms through the local AAA office and got a 138.00 rate at CBR for May. I called yesterday to see about adding one more room for extra family members and they said I rooms were available but no longer at :Pinkbounc the AAA rate. Rather than take a chance at check-in, I would contact your AAA agent and see what rate they can get for you.

They can't get you any cheaper rate than you can get yourself if your a member. The discount percentage is also fixed.

During Value Season you can get up to 15% off at the Disney Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts, or 20% off at the Value and Moderate resorts and the Ft. Wilderness campsites.

During Regular Season you can usually get up to 10% off at the Disney Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts, or 15% off at the Value and Moderate resorts and the Ft. Wilderness campsites.

During Peak Season you can usually get up to 10% off at the Disney Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts, or 15% off at the Value and Moderate resorts.

The only time AAA/CAA discounts don't usually apply is Holiday Season (around Christmas).
