Getting 2 rooms with AAA rate?

I've often read that a AAA member can book 2 rooms at most hotels using the AAA rate. Has anyone done this at a Universal hotel?

We are a family of 4 so we always get 1 room but my SIL and nephew will be coming with us. The USO agent on the phone said my SIL will have to show valid AAA ID too. I put the ressie on 24 hr. hold w/o deposit to double check with her but never got back in time to pay the deposit. She does not belong to AAA but dh and I both do.
I want to call back and book but don't really want to start an argument either. Since we're 2 AAA members, really we should be able to book 4 rooms.


I'm still hopeful that APH rates will come out soon and beat the AAA rate but it's for Labor Day weekend and I don't want to wait too much longer to book. We need that Sat/Sun night at HRH.

This is what I was told...

I'm the only one in our family w/ an AAA membership and I needed to book 2 rooms because there are 7 of us (2 adults, 5 kids). At first, the rep told me that I'd need 2 AAA memberships (one for each room), but then told me she'd double-check on that. She checked w/ someone and then came back on the phone and said that because there are 5 kids, we have to have 2 rooms and therefore, only one AAA card is required.

This week I called back b/c I'm switching to APH rate. I again asked if I needed a pass for each room, or if I just needed 1. I was given a consistent answer - that because of 5 kids, I have to book 2 rooms and but only need one pass.

you can book one room per AAA card member.

that is how it has been in the past unless they have changed the rules this year. things do change in rules so call back and talk to a supervisor to get current info.

if you have 2 adults and need 2 rooms, put each room in the name of the AAA card holder no matter which room they will be staying in.

I have always booked our two rooms at the HRH through a AAA TA and have never been asked how many people are AAA members.

the last 2 years at HRH, i had to show my AAA card.

strange thing is, i booked with the AAA rate but had switched to the SS rate.



things and policies change so much at those hotels, i hate to say what the rules are when someone asks.


i did get restricted one year to one room only for the AAA rate.


if you can get more rooms than one with the card, more power to you!

I could put one room in dh's name and the other in mine. That would work. Would they allow each room's charges to bill to different credit cards? As in, my SIL's cc? and the other room to my cc?

Also then dh wouldn't be able to get into our room, unless they connect and he cuts thru their room.

I'm not trying to do anything dishonest but just maximize our benefits as allowable.

that is what most people do when the couple each have the AAA card.

put each room in the holder's name.

the hotel does not care which rooms you sleep in when you go that route.

i would not call it being dishonest at all.
one of my friends was advised to book that way a year ago when they needed two rooms.

if you have children in both rooms, you can request and usually get the connecting rooms.


use the sil cc for charges on one room to solve the problem of how to divide the bills up. the check in lobby just needs to know what cc to use for the billing.

Our reservation is Dec 12 - 18, beyond the dates of the current supersaver deal. I booked two rooms through AAA for six adults and got the AAA rate for both, using only my AAA card. Not nearly as cheap as the SS rate but was hoping for a deal later that would get me better rates.
THEN I won one of the Superbowl tickets, which allows the winner to book the SS rate through the end of December. I called AAA and was told they could give me the SS rate for only one of the rooms on my ressie. The agent tried to get both, but was told I would need two Superbowl tickets to qualify.
So now I have one room at SS rate, one at AAA rates. But I was able to book two rooms with one AAA card. And still waiting for the next deal to get the other ressie down.
