What are the turnstyles at Universal like? Are they like WDW where you send the ticket thru and scan a finger?

Thanks!

turnstyles are just like the other park down the street.

you can use that or if you have a stoller, they open the gate for you to use.

the AP holders use a finger scan for admittance.

I had an annual pass but my family had the regular tickets. All of us had to have our index finger scanned. In fact, my youngest, for some reason, scanned his thumb the first time so every time after that he didn't go through correctly. Finally, he spoke up and said he needed to scan his thumb.

I have another question! If my friend has extra days on her ticket (not an AP) that she won't use- can I use them or will the finger scan prevent this?

No, not unless your friend has never used that ticket. Tickets are non-transferable. So if she has used that ticket, it will not work for you if try to use it to enter the parks.

if you do borrow a friends pass, the finger scan will not accept it.
you could be sent to guest services to explain the situation.

it is not worth it in the long run.

I actually had an easy time with the finger scan this month, for the first time since they started doing it (whenever that was). One day the party ahead of me was having difficulty, though. The scan kept failing, and the TM was asking stuff like, "Which finger did you use last time? What day was that?" and of course the person in question didn't speak English or something, etc. Meanwhile the lines on either side of us zipped past without hindrance.

I ALWAYS have trouble with the finger scans at both resorts. I learned that trying the finger first and then the thumb and then the finger again seems to work well. One TM was wiping the glass down each time too which seemed to help. That just makes me wonder what is being left behind on those things...
