While on vacation in Orlando Dh & I attended 2 timeshare presentations, when we told them how we booked the condos we were told that due to the fact that many people are abusing the "system" these programs will probably be discontinued in the near future. I felt as if this were a ploy to get us to buy while thier prices were still low. I just wanted to know if this was a false threat or will that really happen? BTW we do qualify to use getravelop. Has anyone been told this before?

My hubby works for the fed. govt. so we qualify, but haven't used it yet. Sounds to me like a timeshare sales ploy...

Not a ploy... real thing. Same website as http://www.afvclub.com

This was available for the Armed Forces and DOD for a long time, I guess they expanded it to all fed employees..

It's a great deal Just that most of it is last minute

there is NO requirement to attend a timeshare presentation!!!

We used it on our trip and were soooo impressed!! Yes, no timeshare presentation is neccessary, we wanted a free Disney ticket, so we sat through one and just walked through a model at the Marriott Model center for fun. I thought when I originally booked, that it was too good to be true, but really there is no catch!! I am planning several more trips throughout the continental USA and hope it's still available then!!
I took pics of both places we stayed at, if anyone wants to see them. We stayed at Summer Bay and Orbit One Vacation Villas.

I use www.afvclub.com and am on the mailing list--haven't heard anything about abuse or discontinuing the program. I hope not, I love it!

I can't figure out how to search for resorts in a specific area but not put in any dates...is that possible to search that way?

No, you have to put in dates and it's based on availability only, but you can put in a 10 week span if your not sure about exact dates.
