My wife and I are thinking about joining, but we're worried about trading for other timeshares since we would probably only go to Disney every 2-3 years. Is it hard to trade for a week at the timeshares in the Getaway Collections? Do DVC Members usually get the resort they want when they want it? Also, is it difficult to get to Hilton Head in April during school break if you have a different resort as your home club. I know it's a lot of questions for a newcomer, but any help would be appreciated.

It doesn't sound like DVC is right for you. There are too many variables and restrictions in the trading system to make DVC worth using for that end. Maybe you could buy a small contract and bank and borrow for trips as you've described. Good luck.

Dean,
Thanks for your reply. I'm sorry I took so long to get back to you. After checking out the discussion boards, talking to some other Members, and researching some other timeshares, we decided to take your advice and buy a small contract at the Beach Club. The flexibility of DVC looks like it will work out best for us. The kids and I were sold on it when we stayed at Port Orleans in August - now I guess the wife will have to get used to vacationing at Disney more often than she expected. Boy, life is tough isn't it! Thanks again for your reply - all of you on the Disboards really helped make this an easy decision.

Great, I hope it works out. We love DVC but find other options work best for non WDW trips outside VB. HH doesn't work for us as it's not on the beach.
