"Get your elbows off the table!!!" A marathon weekend TR completed 3/22

The cake is adorable and so thoughtful of you!! I also can't understand why they don't have more merchadise for the 5 and 10K. You know they would sell it. :confused3 Glad you got a pair of shoes though and a Dooney for your mom. I know I love my little Dooney that I bought. So excited to read about your race! :yay:
My original plan was the tomorrowland dessert party but I couldn't get reservations for it so I went with the cake.

So cool that you snagged Goofy's! I love those and would definitely get those if I were in the market for runDisney shoes (and they had a small enough size!)

I thought that the individual race merch was kind of lacking. They make a lot of really nice challenge stuff but the individual races (especially the 5k and the 10k) don't get quite as nice of a treatment. Glad to hear you're motivated to try Goofy or Dopey...you got this! :cheer2:

The cake was a great idea! (Especially as an alternative to the dessert part idea!)

Yes I love my shoes. I kind of have a shoe obsession so it was just added to my 30 other pair. That's part of the reason I want to do the challenges so I can show it off with merchandise. The only problem is convincing my mom to let me do it.

I set my fitbit and phone alarm to wake me up at 2:45 am. I believe this is the earliest I have ever woken up but it really wasn't a problem as the adrenaline was already starting to kick in. I got the runners box or whatever from the POR food court the night before so I would have something to eat in the morning. I thought the box was a great idea and I really liked it even tho I didn't eat all of it. It came with a water, banana, bagel, cheese spread, peanut butter, and a natural granola bar. I ate the bagel plain only half of it tho and the granola bar as well as drank the water. I was up and out the door at 3:20 while everyone else was sound asleep. Got to the pick up and was on the first on the bus. It filled up very quickly. I will say this is one thing RunDisney does right is transportation, the buses were all lined up and ready to go at 3:30 and not just one or two but like four. We got to Epcot in no time and I really wasn't prepared for how cold it was. I saw a bunch of people heading to a tent so I just followed suit. It was completely empty and everyone was just finding a spot and sitting down or standing to get out of the cold. I sat in there for 30 to 45 minutes and then had to go to the bathroom so i did that and took a picture in front of the marathon weekend photo op.

Soon enough it was 5 AM and time to head to corrals. I was in Corral E second last. On the way there I noticed this Dopey runner.

Its hard enough to run all four in shorts and a t shirt but she was doing it in full firefighters gear! That is something you can only admire I hope she did well.

Then it was start time. First off the Wheel chair racers, Corral A, B, C, D, and finally E at about 6:10.

Here we GO!!! out of the Epcot parking lot and on to the road. Overhead on the bridge was Anna and Elsa with a little snow shower coming down on us. Only Disney can make it snow in Florida.

Then Mile one was here in no time.

Mile marker two was a bathroom stop for me and the worst mile marker picture i got.

I loved this screen playing old cartoons.

So sweet of you to get her that cake! I was so bummed by the lack of 10k merch at the expo- I wanted to get a special shirt but it looked like they didn't make anything for the smaller races.

I loved the snow during Anna and Elsa and while I'm frozened out it was one of my favorite parts. Glad you had a great start and didn't freeze too much in the morning. I saw the fire fighter girl at all the races and seriously think she is the MOST bad A$$ out of all of the runners.

Mile 3 and I was doing great. I saw a blade runner and a deaf runner around here as well more people to admire.

Soon after Mile 3 we were entering backstage at Epcot. This is the point that made it all worth it running through a Disney park. There really is nothing like it.

Stilt Walkers right inside the backstage entrance.

We ran under Test Track and then right into World Showcase.

The music was playing and the torches were lit. If I felt like this running through Epcot I could only imagine running through MK for the half or Full.

Mushu had a small line and I had never met him before so why not.

This would turn out to be my only character stop as I felt the other lines were too long.

Then Mile 4 was next! Only 2.2 to go!

The genie was meeting in WS showcase as well.

Soon it was back out of Epcot and onto the Boardwalk. Football Mickey was meeting but that was the longest line of all so no go.

Mile 5 out by the Yacht and Beach Club resorts.

Back into Epcot. This was the back of Soarin' where a rumored third theater is supposed to go, and it sure looks like at least something is happening.

This car was also backstage

Everyone was taking Selfies with Nemo, Dory and Marlin.

Chip and Dale were meeting in sorts gear outside of inventions but again I didn't stop. That is one I probably could have but didn't

Spaceship Earth looks stunning in the early morning

Mile 6! Only .2 to go and it was over.

These show prop things were just before the finish

The Finish was right ahead! I did it! For not being a runner I thought I did really well. So well that I could've ran another 6.2.

I got my medal, snack box, a powered, water and headed out to pictures outside the finish. I stood in line for Minnie since it was her race and it didn't move for the 20 minutes I was in it so I left and went to Daisy which was much shorter and took 20-30 minutes maybe.

My time was 1:13:(i don't remember how many seconds) 11:51 pace which I thought was good for me. I trained at about 10:00 pace but The stopping for photos made the increased time which I expected.

So I headed for the bus and and got back to POR just as everyone was getting ready for our day ahead of us. It was a fantastic race and I would most definitely do it again. I am hooked, I really can't wait to do it again. My goal is to run Goofy and Dopey in the near future. I just need to convince my mom to let me go again.

Yes the mercy was disappointing but I was just motivated more to run the other races by that.

We get a good amount of snow in wisconsin but it was still cool having Anna and Elsa make it snow over us while running a race.

She definitely was the most bad A$$.

Leave it to Disney to have everything covered, even your meal for that morning!

I really enjoyed reading about the race and seeing the backstage pictures. I know I would have an awful time deciding between stopping for the characters and getting a good time. Mushu is one I really want to meet!

Congratulations on your 10K finish!! Love that picture with you and Daisy. And I think that's an excellent pace for a Disney race with some photo stops. Well-done on your first Disney race.

Just be careful now. You're hooked. :)

Yes marathon weekend is very well run. Yes there are quite a bit of characters out especially ones I want to meet but it was a great time no doubt.

Thanks! I really am hooked its a problem I can't wait to do another one.

Woohoo, you did it! Congrats!! :yay:

I had to laugh a little bit...you and I got a lot of the same pictures during the race! We know what we like. :rotfl2:

Great pictures with Mushu and Daisy! I agree with you, the character lines were long that day! I wish they'd had a few more out on the 10K course, but the ones they had were good ones.

Great race report! :)

Great minds think alike I guess.

Congrats on finishing the 10k! For one meet & greet you got a good one.

That is one of the best/tastiest looking Disney cakes I've seen. How nice of you to surprise your grandma.

You got some great pics of the animals from the safari. It's proof that you don't have to do it early in the morning to see the animals.

It was a great cake. This Mickey face was white chocolate.

I agree I don't understand the oh I have to go to the safari in the morning statement.

I loved reading you TR on your first race! How exciting and congrats! :cheer2: I must say, all of you runners have inspired me and I have started my own version of training! Maybe one day soon, I'll run a runDisney race...:cool1:

That's how I started I found a few Trip reports and got hooked and said I need to try that.
I would definitely recommend a Disney race no doubt it was an amazing time.

After my exciting morning we headed to Epcot for the day. We got there at about 9:40. The first thing we went for was Starbucks it was cold.

That was my first Disney Starbucks and it wasn't any different than a regular one but I loved the cup.

We stopped in the land for some food. I wasn't really hungry so I didn't get anything but everyone else did. I wanted to ride Soarin and it was at 30 when we walked in but went up to 60 when we were done eating. So much for that.

Off to Living with the land. This is a must do for me I love all the plants and stuff. I mean its especially interesting coming from a huge farming state in Wisconsin.

These have to be my favorite plant in the ride.

Up next we headed nest door to The Seas with Nemo and Friends

Everyone was taking Selfies with Nemo, Dory and Marlin.

]

Omg I'm dying! Of all the people to get shamelessly taking a selfie you got ME!!! I felt like an idiot trying to selfie everything since I was running alone and I was too shy to ask anyone to take my photo! You blew right on past me and did a great job!

I totally agree that I could have done another 6.2 bc it was such an easy fun race !

After the Seas we had a SSE FP+. We headed over and the wind picked up it was really quite cold outside.

My favorite manakin in here.

After a fun ride on SSE I said lets go to Club Cool and try some sodas. I also had to make sure everyone tried the Beverly! Before that we did buy sweatshirts because of how cold it was. Seriously Elsa I didn't come to Florida for cold.

Someone had told me Figment and Dr. Nigel Channing were holding an open house. We had to go of course especially if you have an imagination.

Our second FP+ was for Test Track. One of my favorites. My uncle is a big Chevy guy so I knew he would like this one.

Someone's Excited!

Here are the vehicles we designed.

The second car won. And if you notice in our ride photo my grandma was again going for a death grip I won't look whats going on pose.

Lets just say my grandma didn't like me so much after this ride. We also took some photos with the chevy cars. My uncle owns a Corvette so he had to check out the new 2015 which he likes a lot.

Off to World Showcase! First Canada.
My favorite types of soap.

The UK.

Up next: Its a German Biergarten

Thats so funny! out of all the people you were in one of my photos! I wanted a picture of the statues but everyone was taking selfies.
