Hello friends: I just got back from the first doctor's appointment since my surgery on 2/14. I didn't see the doctor, but a nurse practicioner. She said I'm healing well and look good, but I can't go back to work until I'm off of the pain meds.

Evidently, working while taking narcotics is generally frowned upon. Sheesh, who knew??? Like I'd be the first employee taking narcotics on the state payroll. I'm going to see if I can wean off the Percocet this week, switch to Tylenol, and go back to work next week.

Here's the x-ray before they did surgery.

Here's the x-ray they took today showing the rod they inserted into the tibia. You can see the break in the fibula too, but they don't do anything for that - just let it heal on its own.

DW's been doing a heroic job taking care of me and the family. She's running everyone everywhere since I can't drive. I'm very, very thankful. OK, I think that's about it. Talk to you all later.

Wow Dave! I'm glad you are healing well. Rods and screws stink big time. Each passing day is a day closer to recovery. Keep your chin up.

Wishing you a speedy recovery! Unfortunately I know all to well what you are going through, I've got more screws and plates in me than I care to count. The good thing is that bones do mend in time and you will get back to normal, just follow the Doctor's orders.

Got a new interview today - 2 for the price of one actually Glad I wasn't taking my heavy narcotics today, and was trying just Tylenol instead. Keep your eyes peeled to the blog.
