Get up early or stay up late?

Out of the four of us going to Disney, only two of us are morning people. Whenever I have gone to Disney in the past with my family, we were at the park by 9:00 at the latest and unless we watched Fantasic or Illuminations, we were out of the parks by about 7:30.

There will be two 18 year olds and two 17 year olds. I am the only one who has been to Disney before so I am pretty much in charge of the planning and I want to make everyone happy. I also don't want them compaining about being tired and having to get up at 7:30 on their vacation.

Do you suggest getting up early and going back to the hotel earlier or sleeping in and staying at the parks until they close?

Please see my reply that I accidently left as a new thread under "Good Question!"

I am such a klutz.

I am NOT a morning person ... except at Disney. By hitting the park early you beat the crowds and can get so much more done.

Plus we tend to go during the value period when the parks close early.

First talk to the night owls and see how they feel about getting up early.

If they can't stand the thought, the early birds could hit the parks early and meet the night owls later on.

Personally, I prefer to stay up late and sleep in just a little bit. I enjoy the parks more at night than during the day.

You didn't say how long you were going to be at WDW. If it's longer than 5 days, you should have plenty of time to see all that you want to see and still be able to relax in the AM.

Have fun and just go with the flow.

I still believe the EARLY BIRD GETS THE WORM at WDW. You can get so much more touring done and see so much more in the morning no matter what time of year you go...just my two cents...:)

I feel just the oppsite. Sometimes we can do the whole park in teh last two hours it's open. Case in point, The week after Christmas when the MK was open until midnight, from 9-12 the park was dead! Between the kiddies being tired and the parades starting we had most of the rides to ourselves. This hold true almost every time we go. We like to sleep in, hang out at the pool. When the pool gets crowded usually around 3ish we head to the parks! It will start emptying out after dinner time. Granted when the park is only open until 7:00 it may not be the best plan. But I get up early most of the year, I won't do it on vacation.

The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese!! :teeth:

Why not compromise? Get up a little bit later and go to bed a little bit earlier??

LOL I like that!:hyper:

I say get up early, and stay late... Heck, your not at wdw every day...make the most of it!

If I remember correctly from another post I answered when I should have been doing work (:p), if I had to go in July, I'd get up early, get to the park at opening, leave noon-1pm, go back to the resort nap/relax/sun, then go back to the parks about 6:00 pm until late. Nothing like avoiding the heat of the middle of the day.

Of course, being onsite is almost a requirement.

I vote for going to the park early, coming back to the hotel for lunch and a rest, and then back to the park to close it down.:earseek:

Get up early AND stay up late. In fact, don't sleep. It'll elongate your vacation. :teeth:

Just kidding. If only it were possible hehe. I always *say* I'm going to get up early, and then sleep til 10. I think lines are much better early in the morning OR late at night, so you win either way.

I usually tapers off my mornings...first day we'll get up about 7:30. Next morning a little later etc. We do tend to stay at the parks late though so it gets harder and harder to get up in the morning. (And I'm not a morning person to begin with)

Play it by ear...if the first day you find it's difficult to get your crew up and ready then consider a later wake up time the following day.

Tip: If you DO get up later, try visiting a NON-Early Entry park as those should be less crowded.

My boyfriend hates getting up mornings, but understands that on a short trip to WDW you have to get there early and is willing to get up.

Besides it is a lot different getting up at 8 am to go to Disneyworld than it is to go to work or school.

Sleep later stay parks late.

I go in the summer. I get up around 11:00a.m. head to the parks. Then around 4.00p.m. for a nap. back to the parks at 7:00p.m. to close. Then I go to Pleasure Island to party.

Can 17 year olds get into PI after 10? :scratchin

No offense, but I can't imagine spending the $$ for a park hopper pass to sleep through much of the park day.

what's the difference if you get up late and stay late or get up early and leave earlier? You still get your money's worth. A vacation is what you want it to be.

I like to be lazy on vacation and not rush to do anything. When I on vacation I like to relax and take my time to get to the parks. Yes I may not see everything the parks but I don't be stress out trying to see everything in a day's time for that park. I don't like to act like military and do the parks commando style. Plus I am not the big into rides like to watch alot of shows.

I like a RELAXING vacation not have to rush to do anything. To each to there own.

I like this idea of going to the parks late. I'm always up first thing, showered, dressed and ready to go and waiting for my husband to roll out of bed. I'm always in a hurry to get to the parks but then when its 4:00 or 5:00 I'm pooped from all the walking around all day. Maybe I should slow my pace and go a little bit later in the morning and then by the time the day cools off, the parks will be a little on the empty side. Hmm, I think I'll give it a try in May! I'll :o a little later so I can be :) at the park in the evening.
