Get something off your chest here!!!

And thanks, also, for getting my sense of humor. I was beginning to think some thought I might be serious with some of my fun posts. :)

I get and appreciate your sense of humor, but I do admit I've drawn a blank at a few of the references you've made over the past few weeks. Oh, well, I suppose I can't "get" everything.

That is interesting because here in NJ they are called circles. We have had them since we had roads. The current thing is tearing everything up and getting rid of them. The thought is that out of state drivers can never figure out what to do with them and they end up being dangerous. The mess they replace them with is always ugly.

Heck, even half of Jersey drivers don't know what to do with circles!!!

The circle nearest to me, Red Lion Circle (Routes 70 & 206) still works well. No need to replace that one. I'm glad they replaced the Somers Point circle leading to the bridge into OC. (By the way, Circle Liquor Store needs to change its name. ;)). "Fixing" the circle near the Atlantic City airport was a prime example of "It ain't broke, so let's mess it up."

But, yeah, in general, most Jersey traffic circles are anachronisms. There are probably fewer than half the amount there were 20 years ago.

I could write a book in this thread. My first one is...

I work for an eye doctor office. This week is the last week before school starts, WE had so many people called and said school starts this week WE HAVE to been seen. My front office assistants would tell people we are booked Until the week of August 10th would you like to make an appointment. They would respond with NO we are still coming in this week even if i just show up and wait. In fact I even had a mother drop her 12 year old daughter off and left her to sit and wait until I could see her.

I don't understand why people can't take no I am sorry for an answer. I am not trying to be mean but i don't understand what is so special about coming to where I work, in fact there is another eye doctor right across the street from us.

The 2nd part of this is also 90% of our patients are AT LEAST 10 mins late. After 15 mins we tell them that we will see them but they will be considered a walk in. Then they get all upset because they have to wait ( my appointments are booked at 30 min time slots). In fact I even have patients that are 1 hour late and the front office tells them no the need to reschedule and they refuse so they will sit and wait until they are the very last people to be seen or if we have a no show.

wow i feel better just for saying this out

I am not trying to judge because I am not much better but why does it come to such a shock to parents that school is coming I know break is ending when my anxiety starts to rise above normal range

I'm frustrated that I can't find a job in my field of admin assistant/receptionist anymore. In 2007, I had to leave a job I loved and had been at for just about 7 1/2 years (I was 2 days away from it) b/c the corporate side of the company was closing our location. I did find another job pretty quick, but only had that one for a 1 1/2 before they had to downsize and lay off 8 of us. So in June of 2009 I became a SAHM to our then 7 year old DS. I've had a few temp jobs in 2013 but still needed to be home for DS for another year. I've been a SAHM mom again since then.

Fast forward to spring of this year. DH had two car accidents within two months and totaled both cars. The first one was not his fault, but the second one was. So now he has a fairly new car that has an almost $500 payment per month on top of a 40% increase in our insurance come January if they don't drop us first. By fairly new I mean that it's a 2015 model, but was bought from Enterprise Car Sales (which is part of Enterprise Rent-a-Car). So now I have to get back into the work force so that we have another income coming in to help us.

Here's the problem. My field definition has changed since I was in it last. Now, companies have consolidated responsibilities and have merged them with the administrative assistant. For example: contract proposals and a buyer for purchasing have, in some cases, gone under the umbrella of the admin assistant (from what I've recently seen on at least two companies hiring). In the company I worked in for 7 1/2 years, those were two different departments. Companies now are looking for, and in some cases, requiring a BS degree. This is a field that never required a degree before and now all of a sudden does. It's very frustrating. I have over 10 years experience and b/c I don't have a BS degree and the fact that I've been out of the work force for so long, no one wants to even touch me. On top of that, even the temp agencies do not have anything for me either!

Same here! I've got a legal secretarial degree, and many years of experience; but, most Admin Assistant jobs also want you to be the bookkeeper! I've done it before, but I'm NOT certified in any way, and am really not comfortable dealing with tax filings, etc.

I've been looking for a new job for almost 3 months; and, even after filling out almost 30 applications, I haven't gotten a single phone call or interview!

I live in NJ, and I'll take a circle over a jug handle any day!!

My gripe is drivers who, as soon as the light turns green, make a left in front of the oncoming traffic, even though there is no turn arrow.

And this morning, my son, who has his learner's permit, had to dodge not one, but TWO cars coming at us in our own lane. They were trying to pass traffic but didn't complete their pass before their passing area was over. Scary stuff, but to his credit, my son handled it beautifully. I'm just grateful there was a wide shoulder for him to go into.

I also hate that I live in an expensive shore town and contribute fairly regularly to the income of many local businesses. In spite of this they offer no free or discounted beach badges for locals. You also can not purchase any sort of pass to allow you to use a metered parking spot in front or near your home. In the summer the summer cops seem to delight in ticketing and don't check your tags and say, hey they live here, let me wait a few minutes.
Tiggeroo -where do you live? My son lives in CT and some beaches are for residents only-there are nice Public beaches , but others seem sort of 'snooty" ;)

Ocean city, NJ. If you go 6 miles down there is a strip of state park that is free but it is not guarded and water can be rough. For me that is fine, but I can't walk there so I don't go. Not good for kids though.

Mothers....PLEASE stop taking your young ones with you to the hair salon. The majority of women in there appreciate the "me" time away from kids and every day stresses. No one wants to watch your angels tear up the place, running, touching and being yelled at. How is that even enjoyable for you? I had my hair done last week and had to endure this and just got my nails done tonight and had it happen again. If you can't find a sitter, cancel your appointment...please????

What if the kids are getting their hair done not much better I know but they have to get their hair cut too

I wouldn't pay for a child's haircut in the place I go to. It's a higher end salon but if that is the case (I haven't seen that) then at least the kids are there for a reason and are occupied, not bored and running around annoying people.

Tell me about it I can't speak for the kid but I remember going to the hair cuttery and he had to get his hair cut and you would think his mom was killing him I wanted to run out the door it was so bad but I was in the middle of my blow dry

I think the season tag for Ocean City was $20 before Memorial Day, $30 after. Which IMO is a very good price. The season badges for beaches in Monmouth County are like $75 or so. Ironically, it seems the more you pay, the worse the beach is.

Eh, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see kids running around in a Hair Cuttery. That doesn't usually happen in nicer salons.

OK since you're asking...I was out at our local shopping centre yesterday afternoon. Someone has bashed into my car causing a lot of damage. They haven't left any details so now I'll have to pay the £200 excess on my car insurance to get my car repaired.

I went on a site for work it said it will be up and running today it is 148 and the site is not up and I need the info off of it
