Hey everyone! If having our house broken into almost 2 weeks ago wasn't bad enough, I fell the next day injuring my left knee! My family doctor will review my MRI results this Tuesday. Has anyone had knee surgery? How long was your recup. time? Does this ruin our chances of going to WDW June 18? I already have to ride a scooter due to back issues (I had back surgery 1 1/2 years ago) I'm hoping I can ride that and be okay. I know I won't be able to ride most rides and I don't think I'll be able to get in water. Please let me know your experiences and if you think we still have a chance of going!:wizard: Our kids don't know yet so if we aren't able to go it won't be such a letdown:guilty: if we aren't able to go.
Thanks!

Wow...what a string of bad luck! I'm sorry all that's happening. It seems those torn meniscuses (menisci???) are all the rage lately. My brother, niece, mom and friend all have done it in the past six months!!! They're just not making meniscus like they used to!! :lmao:

My brother and niece both had surgery and are doing great. They did some rehab, had to take it easy, and are back on their feet. Good luck! Take heart that it's NOTHING like it used to be - with reconstruction, ten-day hospital stay, etc. It's arthroscopic (which still should not be taken lightly, but is less invasive) so makes it a lot better for you. Good luck!

I had the same injury after a fall just last year. Luckily, I just had to do 5 weeks of physical therapy and am fine now.:goodvibes

I had mine repaired a few years ago. Recovery time was a little over a month. I did have to do physical therapy for a while too. If you get the surgery done before your trip, you may still be in therapy by the time for your trip rolls around.

The pain during recover was minimal. They had me walking on it the same day I had my surgery done. My main problem was my leg getting stiff easily. So you should feel fine enough to go to Disney using a scooter, if your doctor gives you the ok.

Good luck with your surgery.:flower3:

Hopefully I won't need surgery, but I'm glad to hear you did so well after yours! If I do I hope we can keep our trip on schedule!!! Thanks again!:yay:

Good news!!!!! I won't have to have surgery after all! My knee is badly sprained, but nothing is torn!!!! We won't have to cancel our trip after all!
Have a great night!:cool1:

Oh Goodness, so sorry to hear about your string of hard luck!! :grouphug::grouphug:
I hope you feel better and heal really quickly!!!!!! Good Luck!! Again, so sorry!!:grouphug:

I had a new ACL put in and both of my meniscus fixed as best as possible after someone hit my knee head-on in a work-sponsored volleyball game. For me, recovery was long--at least 4-6 months--and it still hurts sometimes even now 18 months later. I probably have MCL issues now as well, but don't want to go through more surgery/therapy at this moment.

My kids were 1 and 2 at the time. Needless to say--not fun! But I did go to Disney about a month before my operation and wore a knee brace the whole time for support. So a knee brace may help if you're still having issues before your trip.

Best of luck to you and your knee!
