Get Ready for the U.S. Dollar to Drop

Yes, the coming weeks will be interesting to see... will both currencies fall?

We've been debating whether we should pay off our package now, or wait until after the election.

Hey everyone, just a reminder of the Dis boards guidelines on politics.

"Because of the large number of complaints of personal attacks related to these subjects and inability for many people to keep a civilized conversation when discussing these hot-button topics, politics and religion will no longer be appropriate topics on our forums. Political or religion based posts or threads will be removed, and repeated violations of this rule can result in an infraction. "

Thanks everyone!!

Hey guys, Im just trying to follow the rules. I don't want to close the whole thread, but if it becomes political then I will follow the guidelines. I understand whats happening is polarizing. However the boards have rules for a reason as I quoted directly from the guidelines link.

I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out how to post my advice without mentioning an outcome, I've failed...

How about:

Hey, just as a reminder, there is an election in the USA on November 8 and depending on the outcome the US/Canadian exchange rate might be favourable so keep a weather eye on the rates on November 9, 2016!

For those wishing to debate the DIS Guidelines, moderator actions (very appropriately applied in this thread), and what can/should be discussed in this thread - please refer to the DIS Guidelines:

9. MODERATORS
The DIS has a wonderful group of Moderators who have volunteered to assist our visitors and monitor the boards. Part of their responsibilities are ensuring that our guidelines are followed which may require that a thread is edited, deleted, closed or moved. If these decisions impact you, we ask that you respect them. Should you have any questions, please direct them to admin@wdwinfo.com. Any discussion about a Moderating decision that takes place on the boards could result in an infraction.

A number of posts have already been removed from this thread as contrary to the Guidelines. Those directly affected have been notified but those who have quoted or commented on removed posts have also had their post removed.

There is nothing political about this topic itself although some have attempted to take it in that direction. Feel free to participate in the discussion about how the exchange rate might change in the coming months.

If you have concerns about how the DIS is moderated or whether a thread should remain open, please send those concerns to admin@wdwinfo.com or use the 'Report' function available on every post so it maybe reviewed by moderators and WMs.

There is an election in the US of A on November 8th. Both Candidates aren't ideal for most American so the US dollar will likely take a plunge so get ready to exchange some for your next Disney vacation.

It's actually more likely that it is going to plunge our dollar along with it, so I wouldn't hold my breath for some magical rise in our dollar. The outcome of the election has the potential to spark a wide spread recession. I would definitely wait and see what happens before paying off trips etc...

But if you're going anyways, it's probably better to pay off your trip/buy money now.

Have yet to see any of the financial press suggest an increase of the loonie against the greenback, but many warn of conditions that can lead to a drop of the C$ against the US$. So yes, if playing it safe, probably better to pay off now.

This is sort of what I did as I faced similar concerns last year. Buy some US money now, hold onto it, and if our dollar goes down, then you can use that US money to pay your trip and you won't have lost anything. If our dollar goes up, you can pay it off with the better exchange rate, and with the money you purchased now... well that can be your tip/spending money when you get there?

Big trip planned for may 2017. Anxious to see how the markets respond now that the election is over.

I have two trips planned for 2017 and am a little nervous this morning, to say the least, on multiple fronts. It will be interesting to see what happens to the Canadian dollar, and how international travel to WDW will be affected.

We just cancelled our DCL cruise for 2018 & started the process of renting out the next 4 years of points, so other than dues we are done dollar-watching.

I have to admit that we are nervous now too but will wait to see what happens.

does not look that bad today. as with currency, you have to figure out what you are happy to spend and then either lock in the cost or run the risk that it could change.
