Wow that is awesome!

Yeah thanks! This is my one year anniversary with No Buy! It has got me out of cc debt so I could afford to go to Disney and pay off the trip before going on it! I carry no cc debt month to month now and it feels great! Wanna start saving for our first house as soon as I can! I have quite a bit in our 401k, but really don't wanna borrow against it for our 1st house.

I forgot how busy October is until I do the budget! We will go out of town for my dad's birthday, and then there's halloween and my birthday at the end of the month. We still need flu shots and I believe I have a check up sometime this month. I don't list the monthly bills as most of them come out on autodraft.

Groceries/Household/Dog~ $650
Gas~ $160
Dad's birthday weekend away~ $300
Halloween~ $100
DH's pocket money~ $80
Clothing~ $100
Medical~ $80

I know I'm missing something! Heaven knows something will pop up at school, but I don't know what since we've already had picture day.:confused3

Despite having to quit September with several unplanned expenses-new water softener for starters :scared1: -I'm back. This month, I am going to only track $0 days-including groceries, gas, discretionary, and gifts. I know myself (I could do 18 or so) and DH (who likes to shop every day), so my goal is 12/31 No Buy days.

First timer here, so be gentle. ;) I'm just trying to get back on track after the usual $$$$ September full of activity fees, school pictures, and other back-to-school expenses (including a band instrument this year ).

My goals for the month - eating out no more than once a week, only Halloween-related discretionary purchases. 15 no-buy days, and a gas expense under $50 for myself which translates into roughly 15 no-drive days.

Hi all!

Thanks for this thread, this will be my first commitment to no buy days.

For October I am going to commit to 10 no buy days. I'm trying to learn how to be a responsible adult!;)

Yay, it's October:yay:! For a short month, Sept. seemed very long! Just re-worked the budget, extra expenses for the month will be school pictures, Halloween (need to order some things for ds8's class party), baby gift for new nephew, b-day gift for nephew, weekend camping & weekend to Vala's Pumpkin Patch in Omaha. Also will probaby start holiday shopping, and the 2 of the kids need winter coats, snowpants, gloves & hats. Wow, that is a lot of extra:scared1:! Going to try my very, very best to stay within the budget we have planned, though, so we can pay dh's pickup off next month:banana:!

I'm going to shoot for 10 no-buys, and check-in mid month & at the end of the month to report if I've stayed within my self-imposed envelope budget:). Happy fall, everyone:goodvibes!

I'm back... this is going to be a tough month. DD is visiting, and I always spend more when the kids are around. I've got tickets to a hockey game and a Rays playoff game, so there is parking and food that I can hopefully keep under control. I'm going for an easy 8 no spend days.

My New Years Resolution was to do this for a year with a goal of 15 no spends a month, so I will try again for 15.

October 1- Not a good start. $55 DD15's yearbook, $18 DD15's PSAT, $4.50 2 kids wanted to buy lunch (we don't do this but once a month maybe twice for DD15) $14.50 school photos for DD8. Really messed up my back today (this is an ongoing and expensive problem) so I absolutely couldn't cook, plus I was supposed to get groceries and that was out. I barely made it to get the kids dinner, so a pizza at the drive thru $8 (DH isn't home or he'd have handled dinner.) However I subbed yesterday and today so I made some money (preschool, so just about $50 for the 2 days) and will be face painting at a festival tomorrow and will get $1 a kid, so that is good (hope it's busy!) And finally, the best news of the day...over the weekend I checked out state's unclaimed property and DH had one thing. It didn't say what it was but I filled out the form to get it and we got it today. It was a check for $338.88!!! DH and I are going to dinner and a movie tomorrow and putting the rest away.

Um..I spent a lot today!
I spent 35.61 at the grocer. They had tuna steaks, cod and sausage marked down or I would have done much better (I know this isn't a lot to some but our freezer and pantry are stuffed and we didn't need anything except milk and fruit but i can't pass up mark downs...its a disease..).

I also bought gas for $32something, I'll have to wait for the charge to come through.

At Target I got 2 pairs of shoes for DD, candy, oatmeal, diet coke, tp and a little petshop toy for DDs stocking. I also gave DD all the toy money, I am going to let her buy her own trinkets for now on. Maybe she'll have better impluse control than her mama. So that was all $80.46.
