I am amazed that there are a large number of people walking around Disneyland and DCA with phones stuck in their ears holding conversations with the outside world. It is the happiest place on earth! One would think these folks could stay off the phone for a few hours.:earseek:

Unless I was expecting an important call, I wouldn't even take a phone with me to DL. The way I look on it is that I am there to escape the intrusions of the outside world as much as possible. Plus it's just one more thing to have to carry. For those that do, I don't mind as long as they turn them off on rides, and during shows, so that I don't have to take their call with them.

A lot of folks use their Cell phones instead of those corba, disney, walkie takies, to keep in touch with loved ones so they can meet up after seperating. And to keep in touch with teens.

Also with a cell phone you don't have to listen to other peoples nonsense,or foul lanuage[our Dd 10 years old got quite a unwanted lesson in perverted lanuage at WDW]over the walkie talkies!!

I am sorry, but if these folks are just using the cells to keep up with their families within the parks why are the calls so prolonged?

We paid for the premium seating one time at the Electric Parade and we have a boorish egotisical individual talking louly on his cell competing with the parade music. A member of his family tried to get him to stop...finally a CM did ask him to take the call elsewhere, but by then the parade was over.

I have seen parents on cells with kids tugging at their shirtails begging for attention. Hello, this is a vacation, right?

If most were "I will meet you at Goofy's Kitchen at 1230, is that ok...bye" I don't think there would be any outrage.

(sorry for the rant)

Simple in park communication is one thing. The trend is otherwise. The large number of folks we saw, heard, on a recent visit were conducting business or just chatting with others at home, outside the park. We heard no conversations that even remotly dealt with Disneyland.

I use my cell phone at DLR. Sometimes it's a 'personal' call and sometimes it's a 'Where are you, where should we meet' type call. I'm not on the phone when we're on a ride or anything, but if I'm just watching my kids play I see nothing wrong with calling up my husband to see how his day is going or excepting a call (we use our cell phones as our primary line, so I get lots of calls on it).

Welcome to So. California, where 8 years olds have their own cell phone. I was at an Angels game and the college kids in front of me were all on their cells either talking or playing video games.....go figure.

Guilty as charged! I use my cellphone about three hours a day for business. I do use a wireless headset though, so it at least looks as if I'm enjoying myself and paying attention! (or it may look like I'm talking to myself!)

I use a stroll through Disney to get a little fresh air and a change of scenery. It's hard to get stressed out at Disney!

Well...............I take daycare children down there with me two or three times a year and I need to keep in touch with their parents. I wait for them to call me if they need to, so I think sometimes it's OK to be on the phone.

If someone is raising their voice talking on the phone (can you here me now......)drowning out others conversations - the behavior is rude and boorish. I have experienced it frequently.

Some jerk was in the WWTBAM line and the CMs were asking trivia questions and the CM was having to compete against a person on a cell. It was distracting and totaly interfered with our enjoyment.

I see nothing wrong with a "normal" conversation in a "reasonable" venue on a cell phone. As long as your kids are not neglected and you use so common courtesy.

Frequently, I think, people are so attached to their cells that they don't realize how disruptive their behavior is.

This didn't happen at Disney but I think most of us can relate... I was at the movies a couple of days ago and was in line to get a coke. The guy two spots in front of me was on a cell, not being loud, no problem. When it came his turn to order, the girl behind the counter started to ask him what he wanted and he actually held up his hand in a "hold on a minute" gesture. The girl looked at him as if he had lost his mind and simply went to the next customer in line. That got Mr. Cell Phone's attention. He went ballistic and told the girl and the other customer that he was next. The girl informed him that she attempted to take his order and he wouldn't get off the phone. She then went back to the other customer and the Cell guy stomped off muttering. That was the last I saw of him. I just couldn't believe that he would try to hold up a line of people (it was busy that day) so he could finish his call. If it was that important he shouldn't have got in line, or left the line to finish it.

The counter girl should have said at that point "can you hear me now?"
