Get me excited for the Boardwalk

I haven't been at the Boardwalk but I went to the Poly with 4 kids of similar age and we looooved the pool and particularly the water play area, was just perfect it has lots to do and the size of the slides were perfect for the little ones.

Oh yea. I know. We stayed at the Poly in April and absolutely loved it. It’s definitely pushing our budget though because it’s almost 1k more than BWI

It doesn’t work for everyone but you might look into renting DVC points. That is an option at Poly, RIV, Beach Club and Boardwalk. You are planning far enough ahead for next summer to still have pretty good DVC rental availability

I liked the boardwalk when I stayed there a few years ago. Thought the pool and slide were great. We have a trip booked there at the end of the year with our baby. I was on the fence about staying or switching to a magic kingdom resort. But we decided we are going to stay. I like being able to walk to two parks and there’s a kids playground there too.

We had a great experience at Boardwalk Inn last December. The resort theming is charming, and the location is fantastic for walking or boating to two parks. Sometimes we even took the Skyliner to/from Hollywood Studios for the fun ride!

I liked the quiet Belle Vue Lounge area for doing some work in the mornings, and DD liked the fancy lemonade drinks from the bar in the lounge. :) Cast Members around the resort were great, and we enjoyed the evening entertainment on the Boardwalk. DD loved the musician and the a capella group that were sining Christmas songs.

We had a nice main floor room overlooking the ramp to the buses, which suited us just fine. Not too far from the lobby! Some might find that area a little busy, but it was nice for people watching.

We enjoyed the pool, hot tub, and waterslide during our stay, and DD did the Mickey tie dye by the pool one afternoon. The BWI pool is really great for the kids activities and pool games because it's not too big.

We didn't mind the quick service issue, which I think is not that much of an issue because Boarwalk Bakery (now Boardwalk Deli) is adjacent. We had sandwiches there on our arrival day and they were very good. Husband likes to walk a bit in the mornings, so he would take the 2 minute outdoor walk to fill our mugs. But we LOVED the proximity to BC and YC for dining - we ate at both Cape May Cafe and Beaches & Cream.

Are the rooms the most modern? No - they need an theming update. But our room was very comfortable and didn't need any maintenance. The mini fridge kept our breakfast and snack items nice and cold, and we liked the bathroom layout.

In short, I think the Boardwalk is worth a try!

Thanks so much for this insightful review! I think we will for sure keep our reservations at this point. I’m excited!

The one challenge that we've encountered with the BW is when it's raining out and it's time for a meal. There isn't a "quick serve" option that is inside.
We like to walk over to YC/BC or Swan/Dophin for quick breakfasts. They have pretty decent options.

Another thing to keep in mind is that there is a Speedway convenience store that is a quick walk from the BW. You can walk over there and grab some beverages or snacks. They also have pretty decent donuts in the morning..

Having stayed at ASM, Coronado, Swan, OKW, SSR, BLT, AKL Kidani and Jambo, and Poly… Boardwalk is by far our favorite! It’s perfect. Upscale yet functional. Tons of evening entertainment. Walking distance to Epcot and HS. The pool has a great slide, bar, plenty of chairs, and a couple of restroom options. Buses to the other parks or Springs usually isnt too crowded.

I'm headed there in Nov. and really looking foward to it. Stayed at BC last time right before Covid and loved that resport as well, but really enjoyed my last stay at BW. Overall, I prefer WL and AK for theming but can't beat the location at BW/BC. I dig the whole Boardwalk bustle, though I'll miss the creepy clown pool slide. What's the construction scene like these days? I heard it wasn't too bad, but curious to know what to expect from people who have seen it first hand.

The only thing I’ll mention about the playground is it doesn’t open until the pool does. That was hard for our ds to see it in the early morning and not be able to use it

Thanks for that information. If we aren’t going to the parks, my daughter isn’t waking up early 😂. We are lucky that she likes to sleep in.

Lol that’s lucky. Mine sometimes sleeps in at home but not usually at Disney. We stayed at boardwalk this time last year and I believe the playground didn’t open until 10 am and he was up at like 6 😩

It’s lucky and it’s not lol. We did a 10 day stay back in April, so I wasn’t stressing about rope dropping but we literally rope dropped nothing because she didn’t want to wake up. The only day she gave us no problem waking up was when we had to wake up at 3 am for our flight to Disney. Otherwise everything was “too early”.

Haha making rope drop is hard even for us but it’s always so worth it

There's actually a lot of QS at Boardwalk. I don't understand why people say there isn't.
Pool bar has food for lunch/dinner
Bellevue Lounge has breakfast
Pizza window
2 take out windows on Boardwalk, one is more snacky depending on what you are wanting
Bakery has food, both breakfast and lunch/dinner choices.
Abracadabra bar has food, may not really be QS but it is small plates
It's really no different than any other resort
That was one of my worries because everyone says no QS. So much good everywhere lol.
Yacht and beach are available for the week we wanted to go but my husband really wasn’t a huge fan of stormalong bay.

I think I’m going to just stick with BWI. As long as the slide is still open, and it’s not like a construction zone, that’s fine.
I just checked out today. At Universal now. I love YC and didn't think I was going to like it. I think it is my new go to for an Epcot area hotel. I do love YC (not beach) but we loved the vibe at the BWI. The lobby and Bellevue lounge were so peaceful and relaxing. My older son prefers stormalong bay for the lazy river. We ate at some stands, the pool and Boardwalk deli. We almost did take out at ale and compass but I got tired of walking. We walked once from HS to bc years ago and I swore never again🤣 we go in summer when it's a million degrees. I could barely handle the heat without adding an extra walk. Oh, the street performers are fun too.

I just checked out. Construction wasn't bad. Everything is pretty much covered and we would occasionally see a construction worker on the boardwalk. It didn't impact our stay at all.

It's not the heat. It is the Humidity that makes the real feel temperature well above 100 degrees many days in the summer months even if it only 88 degrees.

That's why we actually enjoy the afternoon Thunderstorms as long as they are between 3-4:30 PM.
