I know any trip to Disney is magical, but I am nervous that our 6/26-7/1 will be so hot and crowded the kids won't have as much fun as past trips. I was really hoping to make this one special, as we will be celebrating DS's 6th b-day!

Any tips/ideas on how to deal with heat/crowds? What do you think makes summer trips special!

Thanks for any advice!!

Well one good thing about going at that time is that the parks are opened late. So you can go to a park early in the AM and leave it by noon, go back to the hotel to swim, nap or maybe hit a waterpark for a couple of hours (if you have UPH) and reenergize and get back to the parks at night when its cooler. Going during off season you don't get a chance to see the parks late at night and some of the rides are a totally different experience at night, namely the outdoor rides like Splash Mountain, BTMRR, Astro Orbiter, the site of the park is beautiful from up there. One time we were on BTMRR while the fireworks were on and it was the most beautiful site, I was in such awe I forgot I had my camera. Can't wait to do it again. HTH

We were at WDW this year from 6/24-6/29 (after a 4-day cruise on the Disney Wonder) and we'll be going again next year 6/24-7/3 and are very much looking forward to it. It's very hot and crowded, but as the previous poster said the parks are open late and you can definitely take advantage of the afternoon breaks in the pool.

My recommendation is to make as many PSs as you can right at the 90 day mark. There's nothing like touring the MK from 9:00 to 12:00 noon and then when it's getting really hot and crowded, you grab some FPs to Splash Mountain, then go enjoy a leisurely lunch at the Liberty Tree Tavern in the blissful air conditioning, then ride Splash Mountain and exit back to your hotel for an afternoon swim. Of course this is only one possible scenario, but you get the drift. As much as your budget allows, build your park itineraries around sit-down restaurants which you've reserved at the 90 day mark. It makes a world of difference.

I agree with the previous posters::yes:: . We also take it slow and easy for the June trip because that heat can make some people cranky:duck: . We found that the neck wraps and misty fans were very helpful with the heat also.
