I have a sprint htc evo, which i've had since it was newly released. It's on its way out and I don't have insurance. I can't decide if I should get the iphone 4s now or wait for the iphone 5. Any opinions?

Without knowing what the iPhone 5 will offer, that is a very difficult question to answer. I was going to wait to get the iPhone 4 until the specs on the iPhone 4S/iPhone 5 (the version wasn't released yet) came out, but got tired of waiting and got the iPhone 4. When the 4S came out, I was glad I had gone ahead with what I had because I felt it didn't offer a whole lot more. That may be the case with the 5 as well. Who knows?

I'm going to wait for the iphone 5. I'm hoping it will be out at least by Christmas! I also have a sprint EVO. What keeps me from getting the 4s is the screen size. I just can't go back to a smaller screen. The rumor is that the iphone 5 will/should have a larger screen but it's still a rumor.

I would wait for the iPhone 5 to come out. That's what I've been doing. I have the 3GS at the moment and I know that the 3GS is pretty different to the 4 and 4S. Hopefully this will be the same with the iPhone 5.

I would wait for the 5 to be released and then decide if it's worth going for that one or get a 4 or 4s at a discount. I read possible release dates of June or October. There are some images online - the 5 looks pretty sharp (if it's anywhere close to accurate).

I was struggling with that same issue.....
Upgraded to the 4s last week. My old 3gs was getting extremly slow. I now have a fast, new phone and a great iPod touch (my old phone).

Good luck with your decision.

I'm holding out as long as I can in hope to get the 5. My current iPhone is a couple years old and starting to be sluggish so I hope it holds out.

The biggest thing I am waiting for is the next Iphone to work with 4G LTE data speeds. As of now the regular 4 or the 4S only work with 3G speeds. If data speed is not important to you, then I agree with what others have said about getting the 4S at a discount when the next generation is released.

I went from the EVO (purchased when it first came out Aug 10) to the 4s back in November. I'm sooo happy with it, it's a lot easier to text on and iOS is a lot more intuitive operating system. I also like that it's a little smaller and lighter than the EVO. Truthfully, idk if I'd want a bigger phone anymore.

I second this. I just got my Iphone 4s about a month ago, upgrading from the EVO shift. Was scared I would miss the slide out keyboard, but I don't. I love that it's smaller & lighter. And the battery life on the Iphone is SOOOOOOOOO much better than the EVO. That was my biggest gripe about that phone.

Oh, forgot to mention. I'm with Sprint too and I walked out the door with my new phone and a case for around $145. I was due for an upgrade and they had some deal going on and I traded in my EVO and got $85 for it. I couldn't pass it up. They swapped all my contacts from phone to phone and I was good to go. Only thing you need to do is take all your pics off the phone or you might lose them (that's what I was told to do anyway). They did give me the little chip out of the EVO. I'm guessing that holds personal info? It was easy and I've been happy with the phone & the Sprint service.

I am having the same problem with my EVO. I have a family member that works for Mac so I call him and asked what he thought. He told me to wait and even if I liked the iPhone 4s then it will be cheaper.

I'm waiting too..
I still have my 3Gs and it's painfully slow.. :rolleyes1
I'm hoping for June but guessing October... either way, it shouldn't be more than 6 months

Not true. I have a 4s since last year. Never paid any attention. It was showing 3G service. Well I got around to updating operating system to 5.1. All of a sudden the phone is showing it is on 4g.

Upgrade the operating system to 5.1.

Wait for the 5, then you can decide whether or not to just wait for the 6

I purchased my 4S in late January of this year.

I could never go back to an Android or Blackberry. The iOS is so easy to use and it's great being able to carry one device for everything.

The thing about Apple is that updated products are constantly being worked on and/or released, so you can bet that your new iPhone/iPad/MacBook/etc. will be considered "outdated" in a few months, or even weeks or days.

That said, I've never had a problem with any of my Apple products. I'm currently using a three year old MacBook and a two year old iPod Classic, and both of them are running as good as if they were brand new.

Needless to say, I'd upgrade to the 4S now.
