Get in Shape & Lose Weight for August 2014 Group

So question for everyone: Do you plan on modifying your workout or adding activities to your workout plan once the weather gets better and Spring/Summer sets in? If so, what?

IF SPRING EVER ARRIVES . . . . . I will start walking on the outdoor track at the middle school. But once it gets too hot, I'll move back indoors and walk on the treadmill again. We live on a main road, with no sidewalks, so it's hard to just walk outside for me. In order to walk the dog, I have to drive about 2 miles to get to a stretch of road with a sidewalk, so I don't do that too often. When the weather is consistently warmer, I will start walking the dog again, though, because he needs the exercise, too.

Day 2 of no caffeine or fizzy drinks as my Scotland friends call it. I never knew how much water I could consume . Living on excedrin due to the headaches.

I was going to run 3 miles today. It snowed!!!!!! Temps are going to be warmer tomorrow and this weekend. I can't wait to hit the road.

Next week I start my 10 day detox for the blood sugar diet. I sure hopes this works.

I'm late to the party but I'm in! I've already lost 90+ lbs but the scale got stuck! So I'm looking to drop a size by August.

My plans:

Run/Walk - 10K steps per day which I'll use my FitBit to keep track
Gym - weight training and extra cardio at least 3x/wk (one day all arms, one day legs, one day total body)
Home - bodyweight boot camp (iPad) and/or DVD's 2-3x/wk
Bike - just for fun
Eating - I eat about 50-75% clean and I will get back to 90-95% clean

Looking forward to seeing what others are up to!

.

Yes I certainly plan to! I prefer being outside to being in the Gym.

Is anyone else here planning to still have children? We'd like to have one more next year and the thought of all this work now and then starting it all over again. Oy!! Have to focus on one day at a time I guess!!!

No more babies for me. :goodvibes

Think of it this way.....when you are in good physical shape before you get pregnant, you increase the chances of having a healthy pregnancy and hopefully the weight will come off easier after the baby is born too. :)

Had my youngest over 10 years ago, so no, but can empathize with how you're feeling. But going into it as healthy as possible is a good thing. And you'll need to be exercising in a year, in 2 years, in 10 years anyway... Yep, take it one day at a time..

I have two teenagers, one girl and one boy, so no more babies for me! My DH wanted another one for the longest time, but I was extremely happy with two and thrilled to be blessed with one of each, so we never crossed that bridge.

I got ya by a year.. I'm 46. Just curious, am I the oldest one here?

I am 47 and my wife, who also posts using this account, is 48. But, for us, age is just a number. Your real age has little to do with that number. It is more about who you are, how you think and what you do. :goodvibes

Nope! I'm 48. One of my motivators now for losing weight and getting fit is my rapidly-approaching-half-century status.

It really does get harder every year to lose weight, so "if not now, when?"

And on that note - off to the gym!
:thumbsup2

I'm 30 and our son is only 3.5, but no, we're done at one child. I think that being fit and in a good healthy eating/exercise routine well before getting pregnant will help you keep up those habits during pregnancy and afterwards as well. That's not to say you won't gain more than you like, but it won't be like "starting over". You'll already have those healthy habits to fall back on.

So just wanted to check in, diet & fitness-wise.

I have been doing fairly well sticking to my paleo diet. I don't know what happened yesterday though. I was literally in the process of chopping veggies for a salad for lunch, went to put some in the fridge, saw the container of DS' leftover mac & cheese and decided I NEEDED to have some right at that moment. In the middle of making my salad. So weird. I did eat some, and I did stop because leftover, reheated mac & cheese? Not that yummy. Haha

I'm proud of myself for stopping after a few bites. And those few bites aren't going to hurt me. I'm just wondering what came over me? I wasn't feeling deprived (or so I thought?). I wasn't craving anything other than all the avocado I was cutting up for my salad. Than BAM - FEED ME MAC AND CHEESE.

Last night I was supposed to do a Zumba with weights class with my workout buddy, but she couldn't make it. Instead of just staying home, I went and did some back & shoulders, and some arms on the weight machines. I was proud of myself for that as well, because usually I will take any excuse to skip the gym, especially at 8 pm when I just want to wind down for the day.

Lots of positive things so far this week! I know this isn't the official check in day, but I can easily drown myself in negativity and felt like I should be pre-emptively positive. :cheer2:

Awesome job! I've had little bites of things along the way and know how you feel- that is major for me because I do not really do portion control of anything in the past!!'

I just turned 33.
