Is it worth it to buy the AP to get a good rate at the DL hotels?

We are going end of July and would love to stay at GC but best rate I could find was AAA rate and that is still in the $300 range.

Does anyone have an idea how much cheaper the rate would be with an AP?

The AP rates at DLR are less frequent than at WDW. And in July (peak season), and during the 50th celebration year, I doubt if you can get any kind of significant discount. You should know, however, that the "offsite" hotels are raelly, really close to the DLR maingate. It is quite different thatn WDW in that respect. Many of the hotels on Harbour Blvd are just as close, or closer than the Disney owned hotels. And there is no Early entry or any other special perks for resort guests. Only the joy of staying in the middle of the magic. We stayed at the Howard Johnsons....it is a really nice hotel, has indoor corridors, beautiful grounds, and is an easy 8-10- minute walk. We got the entertainment rate of $48.00/ nite!!! of course, that was in the "off season". The year before we got an AP rate at Paradise Pier Hotel, and it was about the same distance at HoJo's, and no more magic than HoJo's, but we still paid more, even with the AP rate. Oh, and the staff at HoJo's was ALOT friendlier and ALOT more helpful. Good luck and have a fun trip! :wizard:

I don't think the AP would be worth your while. It seems like the AP rates are only available during the off season.

Yup the AP good rates are few and far between esp during peak season and I doubt youll see any discounts until Sep/Oct at the earliest if even then

Hi, I thought I would pass along my AP opinion. I definitly think it is worth getting a AP. I had a reservation for June for $248. per night. I called yesterday after calling everyday for special rates. Finally got a girl who knows her stuff, and found out that, because I have a AP, I will get the rate of $119. first night and $159. each night after. That is a difference of $396. :cheer2: So, yes, I think it is worth it for my family of 5. She also hinted that the same rates may come to us in July, and yes you do have to be a AP holder whaen you call to make or change your ressie. to that. You only need to have one person in your house to have that rate. Have a blast either way!! :earsgirl:

Thanks for the replies!

I'll have to look into this idea a bit more....I would love to stay at the GC.

Is that for the GC? I have wanted to stay there and thought it would be fun for my Annivesary in May. I would do it if I could get that rate.
