Get a 2nd MagicBand at check in?

Can my husband get a 2nd MagicBand when we check into our resort? I know it would be a grey one. His current MB is from a prior trip.

He will be upgrading his ticket to the new AP in Nov. so only he will have the free photo downloads.

I would like to have a 2nd one tied to his MDE so If we split up I can use the extra MB to scan the photos.

I knew I should have ordered him a new MB for this trip but he said don't bother. I want to just buy one when we get there, but he is very frugal and doesn't like that idea

.....or maybe... do they still issue the Photopass cards? Could we get one of those tied to his MDE?

You should get another MB if he is staying on site. They send them to you unless you opt out

Yes, he opted out..... When I customized new MB's for myself and DD he said he didn't' want a new one. He wanted to use the one he had from our last trip.

You might try contacting Disney before you go - they will have MB for arriving guests but not sure how many extra they will have on hand. Just tell them you changed your mind as he wants one . Or you could buy yourself one when you get there and they will activate it and attach it to his account.

I think as long as you are all friends and family on his MDE and have checked that you share photos with each other it won't matter which band is scanned. The only thing that matters is that when you go to download the photos he does it from his MDE.

I just called Disney and did what you suggested, said he changed his mind. They said there was still time to customize a new MB, but too late to ship to our home.
It will be shipped to our Resort and should be waiting for him when he gets there.

I believe if you search these forums there have been some reports of it working. I distinctly remember someone's son who had the new AP and they were able to download all the photos. I would just read the new AP threads to make sure because I was reading them fast.

FWIW they likely would have had extra grey bands. I once couldn't find mine at checkin and they had one to give me, easypeasy. So he could have planned to bring his old one, then have not been able to find it.

And I ended up finding mine, and used both the one I brought and the grey one I was given, interchangeably.
