Get 4th PF+ by texting

I'm guessing you would text what FP+ you want for your 4th to the concierge, and they would set it up for you online at their desk, therefore allowing to skip the kiosks and basically do it from your phone.

Very interesting idea - will be intriguing to see this play out if they move forward with it.

This has been a "test" at GF and CR for awhile, not sure if/when they are expanding it, but I love it!! You can text all sorts of requests/questions, including FP+ requests, and they will text you the answer, or let you know what rides are available. Personally I try to keep my requests general, which reduces the back and forth. For example, I would say "I'm looking for a FP+ near Fantasyland. Is Peter Pan, Haunted Mansion, or Little Mermaid available?" And they would text back something like "Peter Pan at 6 or Haunted Mansion at 5:30?" I would choose Haunted Mansion, and then they would put it on our magicbands.

It also comes in handy for other questions, like confirming park hours, ADR times, etc.

Awesome. We will be at GF next week, but not CL. Is this service available to us too?

As far as I know it's only available for club level guests... it's basically communicating with the IPO, which I don't believe is available to non CL guests? That said, the two times I've used it I was staying CL and it was part of their welcome schpiel, so I have no first hand experience to know if it would be included in the non CL info.

We'll be back at the GF two weeks from today... say hi to it next week for me! :)

Interesting.

Looks like the differentiation of the onsite guest experience in the parks begins...

I wonder if tiers are coming.

CL has always had added benefits for I site guests vs normal onsite guests. This is just an added thing. Concierge has always done the extra gets for CL guests.

I've never stayed CL at Disney. Before this, what did they do or give out extra in terms of the parks themselves?

I know they could help with dining reservations and things like that.

There were posts a few months back that some people were able to get their 4th fastpass at guest services at their resort. So if they were taking an afternoon break, they could stop by the desk to get it booked for later.

We were able to get the concierge to make our 4th FP+ reservation while we went back to take a break it was great! This was on our Nov trip.

How is this beneficial for fp+?
Seems to me by the time you go back and forth in that exchange you could look it up yourself and book it:confused3

This happened to us, too, last week ( Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015). We went back to BLT for a swim (rented points, so definitely not CL). The kiosks at the park were so busy. So, I asked at the lobby if there was a way to book a FP through MDE (I even had my iPad with me). The CM I talked to told me to see the concierge. I was pleasantly surprised that he could make our 4th FP+ reservation from the hotel.

Are they worried that they will have to invest in a WiFi upgrade around the parks to allow you to book further FastPasses? How is the 3G and 4G coverage around WDW? Can it handle 130,000 people trying to connect?

They already incur that possibility by encouraging guests to use the MDE app in the parks for a host of other reasons.

I suppose with the kiosks they have a more rate-limited client-server environment. WDW would make a fascinating lab environment for networking and client-server app development. Maybe they haven't perfected the scaling requirements to allow unlimited wireless access to the FP+ reservation system.

It's beneficial if you're not in the park where you can want the fourth FastPass.

I'm sort of confused too. So you can't book a fourth fastpass from your phone if you're not in one of the parks? We went last summer and definitely utilized the new fp system in just about every way. But maybe I just didn't notice we were always in a park when we booked more after our third one was used.
