I am all tucked in at the Comfort Inn!
We had over two feet of snow. Our power went out last night at 8pm. I went to bed, hoping power would be on overnight. It wasn't. My son, Owen, started shoveling at 10 and wasn't done for hours. When I tried to back my car out it got stuck and I had to call
AAA. They didn't come until 6:20 pm. The snow on each side of my car reached the top (granted I have a small car, but still..) Meanwhile, I was calling every hotel in the area and they were all booked. Finally I tried this place which is across the Hudson from me and they had just had a cancellation from someone whose power came back on. Thank God! Soon as I got winched out my driveway I just kept going. When I got to this exit it was backed up onto the highway. All tractor trailers were blocking the way, I went around them in the left lane and made a right turn around them. I was a nervous wreck because it was dark and still snowing. By the time I got here I was going to pass out if they gave my room away - but luckily they didn't! I have the room for tonight and tomorrow. On the radio they say the power outages are the worst in Central Hudson's 100 year history! My landlord called and said he and his wife are going to discuss what break they are going to give tenants because of this. He's nice.
I'm starving! I can't wait for breakfast tomorrow. I had some pretzels earlier, but that's it for the day. Everything I had needed cooking and I have an electric stove so I couldn't do anything. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.
Prayers for Mike and his job!! Prayers for Laura and family - so sorry for your loss.
