Geriatric mm warriors (12/30/09)

Kathy - As hard as it sounds, I think that jail would be the best place for him to be. At least he would detox and get a chance to be clean for a while. I wish my nephew would go to jail. It would give my sister a chance to breathe and not worry about the phone ringing with yet another emergency. I don't think she would agree with me though.

Where's Robin today? I hope her power isn't out again! :sad2:

I don't know if anyone remembers how disappointed I was that I didn't get that job in Danbury last November. Diane: The job sounds really promising! I really, really hope it works out this time for you - the person who was meant for the job! Let us know as soon as you find out any news.

Hi everyone. Reading up on posts. I'm still alive. :grouphug:

Ok, I've been on anti depressants and mood stabilizers for years. I don't think I ever mentioned that, but there really hasn't been a reason to. I went off of them thinking maybe it was Met B all along. I haven't been well, so if I've appeared erratic, that's the problem. I think the Met B is part of it, but I still need the medications. Obviously. I'm seeing the doctor Monday morning finally, and am hoping to force myself to keep talking to people. Love you guys (girls).

Ken is sitting on the mainland again unable to get out to their rig...high seas are keeping them from getting there...I think all these earthquakes must disturb the oceans...OMg, cant believe Chicago had one! LOL, we will be getting calls all week to add EQ coverage to people's homeowners policies!

Nell - we need your new address! What in the world happened with Buddy's eye? That sounds just awful, but Im so glad he seems to be ok. Praying for you to get yourself together and get back on plan...you have done SO WELL and are such an inspiration to us!

I hope Ken gets home soon. This has got to be so tough for you Pony!

Buddy probably got nipped by our bigger dog, not hard enough to bite the skin, but that is the most common reason for a toy dogs eye to pop out. Buddy is an instigator and tends to start arguments. The day we were moving we left them in a room together, and since Buddaka is normally very patient with him, we didn't think anything of it. The vet believes the stress of the move pushed them too far and also added the Buddy will probably stop trying to pick fights with his sister now. Thankfully, and quite a miracle the vet says, he appears to have kept his full vision. His eye appears normal now.

I've got my new address and phone number for everyone, I just have to get my mind organized long enough to email it. :rotfl: I'm on day three of step one again. Believe it or not with all this messing around I'm still under 300 pounds. Diane does know what she's doing about the body healing.

Jocelyn,
I'm the one with the chlorine allergy. The salt water treatment seemed to be okay with me but you do have to add some chlorine to it also. I'm hoping to try a pool that is treated by Ozone...this is a treatment by light that kills bacteria and anything else yucky. They use this method for treating and purifying some cities' water. It is much more cost effective than chemicals but a bigger investment initially. Have your friend google it. My BF's husband works for the biggest nationally known ozone company called Del Ozone. It's here in San Luis Obispo. I think their site tells how it works. Her husband told me at one time that it would cost about $500-600 to set it up for a residential pool. Good Luck!

Lisa, Since I already sent you a smiley party to kick off your birthday week here's just a little wish :bday: Hope the drive is wonderful! If you win the Lottery remember us and the need to get the Godiva Ride happening ... ...although right now, I don't think Robin's is a good place for it...maybe it will need to be some sort of Hawaiian boat ride. All the east coasters would be on that in a New York second. LOL

Robin, Kathy, Pam, Natalie, and Cindy...Hope you all keep warm and safe through this series of storms. Take care if you have to go out and be safe!

Nell, Yay for the move and boo for the yucky, hormonal emotions. I'm sure the stress of moving has contributed greatly to those feelings also...I know I read someplace that moving is right up there on the stress level with other major life changes like loss of job and divorce. Hang in there!

I'm not looking forward to teaching my daughter to drive a stick shift today. I have always delegated the driving lessons to my husband....it's one of the things he seems to like to do. I think I may have talked my DD25 into taking her out for the initial drive and then I will take over from there. I just don't think I'm up for those first teenage girl outbursts and "WHY do I have to learn to drive this **** car" routine.

Am taking my friend out for lunch today. She's the one with the autistic son. He is now exhibiting some psychotic behavior with audio hallucinations.Needless to say, this is all rather overwhelming and depressing news for her.Along with spending each weekend building their house and being so exhausted from that, this is one more thing for her to carry. Her name is Holly and she could use all the prayers for strength and guidance you guys could send.

Thanks :):)

Step 1

Feast upon the Words of Christ

Carol, Holly and her son have a prayer coming their way right now.

Well, nothing here for us either...sun is shining, wind is gone, and still the kids are not in school! ????? they say they are afraid of the ice...COWARDS! It is still very icy on top of the snow, but the roads are clear and dry...if Chris (godson) does not go back to school soon, he is going to implode or be put to work as slave labor by his parents and myself! He is so bored, he even WANTS to go back now!

We arent due for warmer weather for another week or so, chances are the icy snow will not melt much until then, but its time to get back to work and get on with things...

Lisa and Melanie - hope you enjoyed your birthdays

Carol - prayers for your friend Holly and the inner strength she will need to get through all of this in her life

Diane - Ali called me yesterday all ticked off as the news reports of Blizzards and Horrors had produced nothing in Hartford, Ct either...she got up way early to allow herself an extra 30 minutes to drive to the hospital for work, at 6am and there was NOTHING! She got out at 3 and it was flurrying, but they got less than an inch! She can still see her grass...Gov Rell had declared state of emergency and closed down half the state the night before, EVERY state school, government office, etc...for less than an inch! I think they need to get their Dopler Radar checked at the National Weather Service!

Kathy - sounds like you got the worst of it...hope you are plowed out and this sunshine makes it up your way!

Anyone know someone who is using an online dating site? A good friend of mine just signed up a few months ago for one, and has been conversing with a gentleman there for the past several weeks...was all excited to meet someone who was Christian, widowed, and had started to profess feelings for her, etc...he then said he had to make a trip to some Nigerian country as his construction company was building a hospital there for orphans, and when he returned, he would come to meet her. Two days after his supposed arrival there, he messaged her asking her to send him $5500, as he was unable to access his credit cards there and needed the cash to pay hotels and expenses until the job was done and he would then be back to meet her and pay her back...OMG!!! She told him no and he got all angry and abusive and she called a lawyer friend of ours who directed her to a dozen websites warning of Nigerian online dating scams! Turns out they are posting profiles all over the american dating sites, targeting the christian ones, and almost all have the same story he was giving her! Even the popular sites like e-harmony, Match.com, etc are loaded with these scammers! Just wanted to let you know if anyoneyou know is using one tell them to be VERY VERY CAREFUL and not give out any info like last name, address or any financial information! If the person asks for money, report them to the site and RUN!!!

This same thing is happening to my friend's sister, but the woman is so lonely she is sending the guy money. She won't listen to anyone. It's frustrating, and it makes me angry that the dating sites that people are paying for aren't screening people better. There are some pretty vulnerable people out there.

Hi everyone. Not much going on here. A little story about my day for you all. It was good LOL.
I decided to stop at the health food store to pick up some vitamins and such that Dr. T says about for CFS. I was looking for a certain product, and they didn't have it. The sales lady looked it up online to see what all was in it. As we were standing there talking about it, a guy came walking in, just making himself at home. He didn't really pay us any attention. As we talked, the lady said, "Hey, there's the guy we need to talk to." So he walked over to us and asked what he could do. Here, he is an NC and CEM. I told him about Dr. T and his book and how I have read it, and CFS. We then got to talking about that and he said about all the different things that contribute to CFS. I told him I have had a bad time with allergies and yeast infections. He told me to put down my keys, and hold out my hands. When I did so, he gently pinched the skin between my thumb and first finger. He asked if it hurt, which it did, pretty much so. He then did it to my left hand, and it hurt also, but not as much. He went behind the counter, got a bottle, and handed it to me. As I held the bottle in my left hand, his again pinched the skin on the right hand. It didn't hurt at all!! I couldn't believe it. Just to be sure, he had me put the bottle down, and pinched the skin again. It hurt! He then told me to take a multi-probiotic and a pill called CandiBactin-BR (this is what I was holding). He then walked outside to go to his office next door. I kept thanking him. I believe I'm going to make an appointment with him. I already took my first dose of probiotics. I am so excited!!
On another note, Michael is now with us again. The lady he was staying with threw him out because he was drinking the Robitussin yet again. :confused3
His PO called Mike and told him if we don't give him a place to live, he will go to jail. Mike said this is the last time. Just really disgusted with this whole thing. I went waaaayyy off plan now. I don't want him living here and have to go through that hell again. I know it sounds selfish, but I just don't want it. Alyssa didn't want him to come back. So, once again, I have left it up to God. I know he will take care of it one way or another. To be honest, in my deepest heart of hearts, I think he'll either run away or end up in jail again.
Sorry for the soap box guys. This just gets really old, and I don't want to vent on Mike as I feel he has enough on his mind without me going into a song and dance. He knows how I feel, and I just left it at that. :confused3
Off to eat some supper. Not sure what I'll be doing plan wise right now. Major stress right now. I am staying off the sugar for certain. The guy I talked to said NO SUGAR (no honey, vinegar, alcohol, or junk food). I did buy some s/f candy. If I decide to binge, at least I'll have my s/f turtles.
I'll try to check in before bed. Love you guys!!!

Kathy, I'm so glad that man took the time to help you. It shows the difference between someone that works to help people from their heart and happens to make a living at it compared to someone trying to make a buck. I think it would be good to make an appointment with him and have him follow you. Especially if the probiotics work. Let me know if you want a link to a yogurt maker to check it out or if you want to to tell you how to buy kefir grains and make kefir. If you haven't tried it, it's a very sour tasting drink made from milk (not soured milk, like yogurt.)

I'm so sorry that Michael is relapsing and causing such heartache in your family. Prayer coming your way also.

My prayer was that the person who got it receives another offer, takes it and leaves the job - so I could have it. Well.......the job is open again. The head of HR at the time said I was the second choice and if another position came open she would contact me. I contacted her today to see if I could apply again and that I was still available. She said sure and thanked me for contacting her. If I don't get it this time it was truly not meant to be. (But I really want it. :scared: )
I hope the job is available for you.

We love you too! Set your alarm or a timer and check in with us every few hours.

Whew! Im here! OMG, work was absolutely MANIC today, guess people are getting their tax returns and can finally afford their insurance again, or getting their licenses suspended and deciding they better pony up! LOL

ITs midnite and I have to get to sleep...13 hour Saturday coming up tomorrow, followed by another 6 hours OT on Sunday!:scared1: We are THAT busy...we almost NEVER work on Sunday...but what the heck, I can use the money!

Diane - thanks for that website info, cant wait to check out some possible new recipes...I get so darned bored with the same old same old...Praying you get that darn job too!

Kathy - sorry to say but I agree with Diane, and with you that young master Mike belongs in jail...responsiblity will never come if Mike keeps on taking him back into the house, and I certainly dont blame you at ALL for all the extra precautions you are taking...wise move by a SMART WOMAN! I did the whole candida thing about 8 years ago...it is completely amazing though the things that yeast is in! Canned foods, and a whole host of other things you are probably eating and just have no idea they are full of yeast, so research it all and good luck with it...its a difficult diet to stick with but did help me out tremendously at the time...I have thought about going back to it myself on several occasions...I think the only cheese I could eat was cream cheese, every other cheese had yeast in it.

Carol - LOL, that Lobster definitely could be the subject of a "Marley and ME" type of book! When we win the lottery and I have time to start writing, we will collaborate on it! Im thinking when Kathy and I head that way to get out of our crazy weather we will have to leave all shoes behind and come in our socks! hmmm, is he a sock thief too?

Lisa - LOL, getting the vision of that "Lobster-Proof" safe!

Nell - so good to see you, and for Petes sake get back on the meds...we miss you so much here and all your great insights and comments and knowledge about "stuff" I never even thought of! Leave the farming to Marti and get yourself back here more often!

Hi Kate! Thanks for all your help...wink wink...you are the Cats Meow!!

Jocelyn - have that book on order and cant wait to find out more...thanks for the links!

Love you guys, off to bed, hope to check in tomorrow if Im not off the deep end halfway through the morning! :grouphug:

Diane, I have to agree with you 100%. The last time he was in jail for 4 months, and when he got out, he picked up right where he left off. Didn't even miss a day. If he ends up going back to jail, it would be for a least a minimum of a year and not sure of the max. It could be up to 3-4 years. It's hard to tell. They have given him more than his fair share of chances to get his crap together. He is soooo intelligent, but no common sense what so ever. :confused3 My brother is the same way, but thank the Good Lord he has enough common sense to marry someone who kept him on the straight and narrow. Michael's new doctor has diagnosed him with ADD, and yesterday Mike went to pick him up, and spoke with the doctor a few minutes. Just from talking those few minutes, he (I think it's a man) told Mike that he (my Mike LOL) is a classic case of ADD. I told Mike I've been telling him that for 9 years and I don't need a medical degree LOL. The only thing about ADD is there is really nothing you can do about it from what I am understanding. You learn to cope and deal with it and learn ins and outs of how to function normally.
I will be praying for you about this job. You sound just like my sister LOL. She works in the school system out in CO and has worked her way up to regional registerer (don't know the "technical" name of it). But when that position came available, she wanted it so bad she could taste it. Now she's ready to move on to bigger things. She is such a perfectionist. She is everything I'm not LOL. Love her to death. So, I will be praying a little harder for you with this job. Let us know as soon as you find out!!

Nell, sorry you're feeling so crappy  I pray that you get to the doctor Monday and he gets it straightened out for you. I'll say a prayer that this doctor will give the medications to get you out of the glum. Sending you some love. :flower3:

I saw on FB about the eye popping out. I am so glad he's ok. I would have flipped to say the least!! Tyson is sending a few sloppy kisses and a boxer wiggle to Buddaka. Tyson also said to let them know if there are any more fights, he'll have to come down there and kick some doggie butt!! He just knows there isn't any snow down there LOL

I am so glad your scale is still showing your progress. You have worked so hard to get this far!! I am so proud of you, as I know everyone else here is also. I can only imagine how difficult the move was (glad your settled in somewhat now) and to be able to jump right back in is great. If I remember right, you were going to start as soon as you got moved. Remember we are all right here behind you gently pushing you toward your goal. Love you Nell!! It could be all that exercise from your farm helping too!:lmao: Countrylife keeps me busy to say the least!!

Nell, I would appreciate the link if you don't mind. What is kefir? I have never heard of it before. I think I may go off plan and do a Candida detox with the juicer. It will require a ton of veges though. Not sure if they would all be legal in step 1 or not. I have an excellent juicer book I bought that has all kinds of recipes in it for various diseases and such. I will google kefir until you post again ;)

Sorry about all the previous posts being made that way. If I do a notepad type of thing, I get totally lost in what the heck I'm writing, reading.

Not much going on here this morning. Just enjoying the quiet before everyone else gets up. Mike will be in bed for a while. He couldn't sleep and went to bed around 3 or 4 this morning.
Nell, did you ever get your insomnia figured out? Mike has tried various natural sleep things, but just doesn't seem to work. If you have any ideas, I'd appreciate the help. He doesn't nap during the day as I have been giving him a few things to do plus shoveling, so he's doing well that way. He has always been the type of person who only needs about 5 or 6 hours of sleep max. At times he would sleep as little as 4 hours and be good all day. He has such a high metabolism. Wish he'd trade for a few weeks. Just long enough to get some of this fat worked off!!
Today we are going over to the Y to see about joining. Our one friend said if your on state assistance, then it's free. At this point, that is Michael. So we are going to take him with us and see about signing him up. I think it would do him good. He would be surrounded by positive people and it would give him something to do. Just send a little prayer my way (I know you all have already, thanks) that this may help a bit. He just needs something to occupy his mind other than his problems and the computer.
I think I've taken up enough of your time guys. I'll catch up with you all later.

Here's the most comprehensive website about Kefir in the world. :) http://users.chariot.net.au/~dna/kefirpage.html

Ummm... ok, for some reason the yogurt maker that I bought for twenty bucks two years ago is now two hundred dollars on Amazon? Here's a link to what it is, but please don't buy it for that much money. It's just a insulated plastic bucket that heats to 110 degrees Fahrenheit. If you decided to get one we could look around for something that doesn't cost as much as a car payment! My gosh! Here's the way too expensive yogurt maker link anyway http://www.amazon.com/Salton-YM9-1-...2?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1266073362&sr=1-2

It's day number four and I woke up hungry. Marti has been waking me up to a cooked breakfast every other day, but since I'm the first one up I'll probably have to pull out a pan, lol. You know what I was craving at 1am? Deviled eggs. How weird is that? I don't suppose it would be too difficult to make some just to keep in the fridge. I've got a lot of homework to do though. I'm not going to think about it, just do some of it. It's easier that way.

Kathy, I hope your day today is a little easier. I hope everyone's day is good in fact. Pony, I hope that work is brisk enough not to be boring, but not so busy your pulling your hair out. Kate, thank you for being so kind. I'll talk to everyone soon.

Kathy,

I was wondering about the ADD issue with Michael. So many of the people suffering with it make really bad choices like he has. They tend to "self medicate" with whatever they can...booze, drugs, caffeine, nicotine, food, or sex. I've been dealing with this for 31 years with my husband and it is so frustrating. What I'm learning lately is that they need to get medicated with the proper ADD medication first...this helps their minds slow down and work regularly so that then they can change their behavior ( if they want to ). Here's a website I found a few weeks ago that has been very helpful for me. It has to do with dealing with ADD in a marriage, but the issues are still the same. I hope you find something there that helps you and your family.

http://www.adhdmarriage.com/

Nell, Good to see you! Sorry that you have been in a funk and hope that things get straightened out at your doctor's appointment. I know this is weird, but could ADD be an issue with you too? My husband had difficulty with depression and his mood and it comes from the ADD. It goes very highly undiagnosed in women because we don't exhibit the hyperactivity as much. Just thought I'd ask and hope you're okay with that. I don't want to hurt your feelings.

Diane, Here's a good luck:shamrock: Hope you get the job!

Robin, Have fun working today!Yes, Lisa's suggestion of a story about Lobster would be good but rather repetitious.......pick up shoe when someone comes home...take shoe to greet them at the door...try to get by them as they open the door...run as fast as you can through the door and onto your path down the hillside...do not pay ANY attention to the ridiculous humans that are yelling at you to "come home", "drop that shoe" or try to con you with saying "cookies" or "go for a ride".........drop shoe whenever and wherever the heck you feel like it. The type of shoe ( or possibly stuffed animal if no shoes are available) is the only thing that changes. Some of the words that are yelled at him as he goes bounding off would not be appropriate for a kids book.LOL

Well, hope everyone has a great weekend. My husband and son-in-law have a 3 day weekend due to Presidents Day so we are hoping to get a new arbor put up for our gigantic climbing rose bush. It fell down in one of our recent storms and has been laying down all over the yard. We laugh about this rose taking over the whole house as it's stem is really as thick as a tree trunk and it just keeps growing and growing. We'll end up covered like the castle in Sleeping Beauty.

Hi Carol! I think being covered by a giant rose bush sounds lovely! Most people have trouble keeping their roses healthy. It's a good idea to get it off the ground though so it doesn't get damp.

My problem isn't ADD as far as I know. It stems from childhood trauma and being highly sensitive. Each thing separately can cause people challenges, the two together cause a ricochet effect. It's always good to keep an open mind about these things though. I'm am so happy for you that things are moving in the direction of help for your husband. As long as you both keep working on it, it will continue to get better. I know that despite the frustration, you truly love him. It's such a blessing that he's willing to get medical help.

Carol - you crack me up! I think we could actually take that repetition and make a great book out of it! LOL, something along the lines of Dr Seuss comes to mind...you know Green Eggs and Ham?

" I do not want to drop the shoe, I really want it, yes I do, please dont chase me, with my shoe, I will take another too! " :lmao:
