Geriatric mm warriors (12/30/09)

Morning Gals (and Tom, I KNOW you're out there)

Trying to talk myself out of going to work today, but I know we are in for more snow Friday, so I suppose I better get myself together and slide on in to the office....even mama got her little car out and went to work, so I guess theres not too much excuse for me...we got another inch of snow last night, so its actually better than driving on the ice. Its just kind of slushy out there now. The bad news is that last nights news is now showing the friday storm to be dropping between 15 and 24 inches!! :scared1::scared1::scared1:

Diane - I wish my gym's TV's would play with sound, but there are so many of them that you have to bring some sort of ear thingies to hear the sound, and I dont have any! So I either read my book, or watch a movie with no sound, which just ticks me off...especially since there is rarely anyone there when I go, so I wish I could find the darn remote that would give me some audio!!

Kathy - so glad you are finally feeling better! You can read it in your voice! Sorry Carrie is getting it though, I guess its almost inevitable to spread it around the house.

Lisa - glad you are given the go ahead to begin some walking...tell Bonnie to give you a little time and you will be back on dog walk duty!

A close friend of mine back home has a celebrity son, sort of! He is the executive producer for CSI...I noticed the other day that Peter has pictures posted on his FB page of him on the set there at Christmas! He always calls us to be sure we are watching for him during the awards shows!

When I told the ponies about my plans to do some trapping for Filet Mignon they got a bit panicked! LOL, I assured them I would eat the darn brussels sprouts before I would go for Pony meat!!

Robin - I am sure there would be some bad karma coming your way if you tried to get some filet mignon from your ponies! Drive safely to work. They sell the head phones that you need for the gym at any drugstore (Walmart, Walgreens, Riteaid, etc.) or stores like Target, Best Buy, etc. They aren't expensive - $5 to $10 (although I am sure that you can buy much more expensive ones). All this talk of the gym. Hmmmmm. It is only 5:50 a.m. here and someone has time to get herself to the gym......

I have to complain a little too. I took grilled chicken and asparagus to work yesterday. It was in a tupperware container and would have been my lunch for two days if one of the guys in the building hadn't spilled it reaching for his lunch which was behind mine. Arrrrgggghhhhh. The refrigerator isn't even crowded! I was stuck with string cheese and almonds.....

Kathy: Glad it doesn't seem to be an infection. This has been a bad cold season, hasn't it? I hope Carrie gets over it quickly, too.

Robin: What a great tip from Diane about the earbuds for $1! I'm looking forward to getting my DVR up to speed with current shows upstairs so I can get back to my treadmill. Really miss it! I'm glad the weather is giving you a break, but sorry you have to go to work;) Tell the Pony's you'll stick to oatmeal! I guess you'll try to get to the store before Friday's storm?? Yikes! That's a big one comin'! It seems to be an extreme weather year.

Kate: I vote the guy at work buys your replacement lunch! Good thing you had your snacks with you! I'm making another Chinese chicken salad. Seem to be kind of hooked on them lately.

J-P called last night and had a wonderful day snowboarding. Tonight they are going to a concert with another famous snowboarder that now has a band. Travis is going to take him snowmobiling in the back country. I'm nervous again about avalanches!!! It's hard being a Mom! I think I'll just pray and keep my mouth shut.:rolleyes1

OMG Lisa! Now I'm going to be paranoid about passing gas in meditation! :lmao: The thought never even occurred to me. I'm going to have to make sure I sit next to the men that go. They would definitely get blamed! :lmao:

I'm glad that J.P. is in such a beautiful place. I hope he has a ball!

Kate, I'm so sorry about your niece. I'm not really sure what to say about it since the situation is so awful. I'm glad you have support and a wonderful husband to help you through the feelings that come up.

Thanks for the advice on documenting everything when we move out. I have come to realize that my landlord is a little bit too much in love with the dollar, which can corrupt the best of us. And also Lisa, the newspaper idea is great. Date stamps can be changed around, but it's hard to argue with a newspaper date.

Pony, if your weather keeps up see if they carry studded tires that far south. They were a life saver in Maine. Please be careful! Hey, remember the string beans in Sauce with Italian Sausage! Frozen works great, and it's my favorite. Hopefully they have green beans left. I wonder how that would come out with other veggies? Also, faux mashed potatoes comes out fine with frozen cauliflower. I'm not sure if I ever told everyone that I tried it.

Diane, or everyone, don't the speaker buds hurt your ears? I must have little holes in my ears. I get really sore with them. I had to go and buy the old fashioned kind like a headband with two foam speakers. Luckily I found a really nice headset made for phone work, but it works great for music too. They are slightly noise canceling. It was only five dollars at big lots. If I really wanted to I could use it for talking on the phone too!

Kathy, I'm glad your feeling so much better than you were, but sorry that Carrie is sick.

Maybe we should make one of those "facebook causes" about stopping dogs from having to carry their poop under the nose. I would never even think of doing that. Who came up with that idea anyway?

Pony, your cracking me up thinking of steak and pizza baits! :rotfl: That would take some serious consideration to see what would attract those things.

Laura, I seriously have been forgetting my water. Thank you for popping in with the reminder. Going to get some now.

Nell: You probably have nothing to fear in meditation. It's a lot worse once you've had kids and you reach a certain age. My sister makes me laugh when she says a duck is following her. She's little and in shape, so there's no mercy with this syndrome, lol!

Kathy: Why have you always been on Step 1? You'd love Step 2 and have some of the freedoms you miss. How 'bout you do Step 1 with vigor for 10 days and move on up with me and Nell and whoever else is on Step 2? We'll help you! You are so good at making commitments to Mike, the kids and your work. Make one to yourself for 10 days to stick to it and let's get you some breathing room. I apologize in advance if you have a health concern that has made Diane tell you to stay on Step 1 like Robin does.

Kathy - that is great! Good work! What is a sauna suit?

Here is a picture of one. You wear long pants and long sleeved shirt under it, then a sweat suit on top of it. You really sweat in it!! It is in 2 pieces, top and bottoms. We got ours at Marshall's. The ankles, wrists and neck are all elastic so there is no where for cool air to come in to cool you off and so you don't drip sweat everywhere.

Lisa, I have been on step 1 so long because when I started it, Tris's wedding was the following weekend. So, there was 3 cheats that week. Add 10 days. Then Mike's niece got married the following weekend, 2 more days of huge cheats. I decided to add at least 5 more. That took me into October. Did really well until Thanksgiving. I would have went to step 2 the Monday of Thanksgiving. Afraid I would screw up, I decided to wait until after Thanksgiving to do step 2. Enter the pumpkin pie, pumpkin rolls, cookies, ya know, the holidays. I then binged somewhat and by then it was the first week of December. Diane said to add was it 20 days? That put me right up to Christmas. We all know how the holidays were. So, I resigned myself to step 1 for a while until I get a hold on this. Sorry so long, and please don't apologize for not knowing. I just never said anything about how long I actually was doing step 1. Good thing is I'm still in my smaller pants but not gaining, not losing. Would love to lose a bit more (at least 10#) before trying step 2.

Just stopped in real quick before having to go to work. We went and worked out first. I'm tired, but I know if I do my office tonight, I'll be happy. I don't know if I'll do all 3 or not tonight. If not, I will try to get up early in the morning and do the smaller ones.
I'll catch up later everyone!!:grouphug:

Holy, cr**, Kathy! I'd die of claustrophobia in one of those suits. More power to you!:scared1:

:lmao:
They really aren't that bad. You can't tell you have it on to be honest. Just really sweaty. My under layer is soaking wet when I take them off. It does help you sweat all the nasty stuff out of your body. We are going to pick up a pair of them for Alyssa too.
Mike got a rip in his in the butt, and we duct taped it together. It matches perfectly. Then I did mine the exact same way last night. So Mike taped mine today. Mine I think was from the stationary bike. But they are actually pretty durable.

OIC, it all adds up. If it gives you hope, I lost more on Step 2 than on Step 1. Still slow, but making progress. Even without being able to really move, I've lost 'space' since the last time I did a clothes-trying-on marathon like I did today. I needed to see if I had a reason to stay positive. It's been hard being down physically. So, if I read you right, you need to do 20 days more of Step 1 with no more than 2 cheats per week, right? You can do it! Why don't you pick a date and email me when you are ready. I'll be your accountability buddy.

HA, HA, I'll have to tell Tom. He duct tapes everything. Puts a big roll in our suitcase when we travel in case anything breaks.:lmao:

Jocelyn: Are you still planning on being in San Andreas at the end of the month? I hope so! If so, what do you think a good day to meet for lunch would be? Let's think about where we should meet, if it works out.

Kate: You still in??

Mike wants you to tell Tom that he also has used it for rope. He rips off 3 large pieces, braids it together and he has strong rope. It really is the go to for everything. I actually carry some in my car at all times. You never know what you may need it for. One time at Lowes Mike got a rip in the back end of his pants. I duct taped it shut. He also used it for a belt once when his broke. I could go on and on.....:lmao:
We can be such PA rednecks. Where's Jeff Foxworthy when you need him? LOL

Thank you Lisa. I will be doing that for sure. I remember you saying about losing more on step 2. I'm just afraid I goof it up or something I guess. But I know we can't really "goof" it up. Just get back on the wagon. I think we are reading it right LOL. I need to pull my book out and double check it as well as double check the blog. If it is indeed that way, that would put me at the 22nd. So, I think I will go for the 28th to make it a nice round even month. March 1 will be my step 2 day. This way I can read up on it, shop and prepare mentally. Oh my, now I'm feeling nervous about it LOL. It's a good nervous. Like excitement.

Ok, I am getting my shower and heading to bed. Had a long day today and an other tomorrow.

Kathy: You'll be fine! You're going to like the variety on Step 2 when you get there. We just had turkey taco meat burritos on lc tortillas with 1/4 cup black beans added. Very filling!

One more hour out west until we see Diane's brother on Mercy! I'm taping it too.:happytv: Hey, if you miss it, you can probably pick it up on hulu.com:surfweb:

Oh, Kathy! You do know you are a redneck when you make a belt out of duct tape! I can't wait to tell Tom!:lmao: I hope Mike didn't tuck his shirt in, LOL!:rotfl:

Nell: Arthur Ray was arrested on 3 counts of manslaughter for those deaths in Sedona at the sweat lodge. $5 million bail.
