Not sure if this is the right forum for this...

We're driving from GA(Atlanta) to Titusville(family there) and then to Disney. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions on little cities to stop/stay at on our way down. I know from looking at the map that there are a few touristy towns. We're hoping to stay one night in one of them on the way down and maybe one on the way back. So many to pick from so figured maybe someone would have a sugesstion. It will be two adults and a 4 yearold.

Yeah...we figure since we're driving we might as well make the most of it. Hubby has lots of vacation days we haven't used too.

I'd hit St. Augustine. Oldest city in the country, lots of historical stuff, some of it pretty fun for younger ones. The fort, for instance, appeals to a lot of younger ones because they can touch cannon and talk to re-enactors and pretend they are soldiers shooting down on those below. ;) When we were there one of the docents collected the younger ones and read to them and had some other kind of project going. There's a light house out on the island you can climb up into, which some kids would love and others would find terrifying.

Then there's the beach and a pier you can walk down and all, although if you're going to Titusville that probably doesn't hold as much appeal as it would for someone going straight to Orlando. ;)

We have memberships with the zoo, historical society, children's museum, science museum and gardens; if you've got one of those, check to see if there's anything reciprocal on your route. That's how we discovered a little museum in Georgia with a terrific rock collection (eldest loves the sparklies) - Tellus in Cartersville, so north of you, alas, but there are some on your route down we haven't checked out, in you're interested. The advantage is that many reciprocal sites are free, so if it doesn't pan out, all you've wasted is time. Not really a waste because the kids got to get out of the car and run around, is my theory. :upsidedow

:thumbsup2 St. Augustine.

You haven't lived until you've gotten chewed up by mosquitoes doing the late night ghost hunt at the lighthouse, and gotten the runs from drinking the water at the fountain of youth.

I love that place, and now that the Bridge of Lions is open again, can't wait to take a day trip.

We also really enjoyed St. Augustine! We had two days and it probably wasn't enough. Just know that the town closes up early.

Jekyll is located near Brunswick. You abd your kids would LOVE staying there! There is a super cool beach named Driftwood Beach...your kids can climb and explore the fallen trees. It is a sleepy beach town that isn't crowded and over priced like St. Augustine. You MUST stay at the Jekyll Club to experience the old charm of the island.

St. Simons Island is about 10 + minutes away...you can climb the lighthouse, shop the pier, eat the BEST and most famous BBQ at Southern Soul BBQ!

STAY IN GEORGIA!!!!!!!!!!!
