George Zimmerman Trial Part 2

That's what I don't get, people who actually believe GZ's entire story, think his actions were entirely reasonable, thinks he's a great guy they'd love to have patrolling thier neighborhood, etc,

Funny thing is; I do want to believe his story, i try to put myself in his shoes, I want to believe he was attacked and used necessary deadly force only to protect himself.

But, sometimes it just sounds like he was an overzealous wanna-be cop.

The problem I see For the defense is the jury. I think women will be more likely to think he should've stayed in the car.

On this thread, most women seem to be on TM side, and most men seem to be on Zimmerman's side. Not all, but most. I wonder if the jury feels the same
God save us all if he's acquitted.

I posted some thing similar on the other thread. I feel that Zimmerman is a danger to society

He can't remember 3 steets on his own neighborhood, he doesn't know his own street name, he took law classes, but it was long ago and he forgot, he was scared and that may have affected his reasoning. Etc.

Oh, how I'd love to have a guy like that on my neighborhood watch!

Sounds like most people have made up their minds already.

::yes:: I agree. The thing is, there are few on this thread who hadn't already made up their mind before the trial began. For me personally, I didn't read too much on the case so I'm just going off of what has been presented since the trial started. Based off of that, I would not be able to convict him of murder 2 at all and would really struggle with manslaughter. To me, I think what many people who believe Z is guitly need to be worried about is the fact that only the prosecution has had their side presented. At this point, we should all be thinking that he is definitely guilty. Then the defense will go and present their side and we weigh the two before coming up with our verdict. As of right now, I do not see the prosecution as far ahead. In fact, I don't see them ahead at all. Best case scenario, they are at a dead-lock. Truthfully, I think GZ will not get convicted. He may not be found not guilty, but I will be very surprised if you get all 6 jurors to agree to guilty of manslaughter, much less murder 2 - especially after the defense presents their case.

I think that I posted in the beginning of the first thread that at first, I did think Zimmerman was a racist who went hunting for an African American kid because that's what I was reading and seeing on tv. Then I started looking further and reading more and I changed my opinion. Like the fact that Trayvon spent 90% of his time as he was growing up with his father. Tracy Martin who was with him most of the time for 14 years said that the screaming voice was not his son's voice. There's a lot of information out there that has not made it here.

Emotions are running high with this case, and so many (including me) have very strong opinions. The only conclusions that matter now are the 6 jurors. The evidence has been presented by the state, and now the defense will present their case, and finally we will have the rebuttal by the state.

I believe there was enough evidence presented by the state to make its case, and the defense has made some good points too. This is why juries decide cases. They will analyze and discuss all of the evidence and then render a verdict.

Why on Earth would that be relevant? There's zero evidence, zero, that TM did anything wrong that night before GZ saw him. There's plenty of evidence, such as the video at the store, and the phone records, that TM was doing a very normal teenage thing, walking slowly, enjoying some freedom, while having a phone conversation he'd rather keep quiet. 17 year old boys like privacy. They get embarrassed when their family members or almost family members overhear them, even if the conversation is totally mundane.

Speculating that TM was doing anything other than that is ridiculous, irrelevant, and pretty close to character assassination.

Thank you.

I will give you an example of the rulings that Judge Nelson has made. I think they are biased:

The prosecution objected the day after the lead detective had answered a question and said that he believed George Zimmerman's story was truthful. She allowed the prosecution to object and strike the question and answer in front of the jury. What Judge allows a party to object the day after?

The allowance of the George Zimmerman's school records. Her reason, "Well, it's the prosecution's theory. They should be allowed to prove their theory." She would not allow Trayvon Martin's records in. Doesn't the Defense have a right to present a theory? And besides if Zimmerman was such a law wizard, didn't he know enough to keep his mouth shut when he was read his Miranda Rights?

The medical examiner changed his opinion that the level of THC in Trayvon Martin's blood could influence his behavior. She still would not consider it as evidence or even a hearing. She said she ruled on it, and it's a closed matter.

Don West had asked to approach her for a question. Denied. Again, saying it's important. Denied. It's on this youtube at 27:00

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSr6EJswS_g

She didn't allow the deposition of Benjamin Crump, the Martin's attorney. She said that the Defense had plenty of time to arrange the deposition. O'Mara replied that they have been busy with the case and Crump has not presented any times for the deposition. She lost the appeal.

The Defense asked for a continuance before the trial began saying that they needed more time to get ready. Denied. Other high profile cases have been delayed many times, e.g. Jodi Arias trial.

Regarding the bolded part, this was decided in limine so O'Mara should never have asked the question. O'Mara knew this. Other issues were addressed in limine too, and both sides had the opportunity to state their reasons for wanting certain information either admitted or denied.

I don't think it is a fair comparison to the Arias trial. For starters, the Arias trial was a murder 1 charge with the possibility of the DP. Also, Arias tried to represent herself then changed to having a lawyer. There are so many other issues with the Arias trial, but I'm not going to dwell on them.

DT always try to delay trials, it is part of their strategy.

This thread appears a bit shaky at the moment. Will it be shut down, before court resumes Monday morning? :rolleyes2

In that case he may go the way of kasey Anthony and he might have to hide for the rest of his life
Either way his true colors are out there

I honestly don't see him getting away. Truthfully, I think he will have to leave Florida and change his name to even have a chance at living something that resembles a normal life. My gosh, the New Black Panther Party has supposedly put out a hit on him. People across America have commented on what they intend to do to him if they ever come across him. His life will never be the same whether found guilty or not.

Casey Anthony had plenty of people out there on the Internet wanting to kill her also. She is in hiding. Feel sorry for her, too?

She has had multiple threats on her life and nothing has happened. Same with GZ, if he is aquitted. I do not feel sorry for her. She is not living the beautiful life either, and neither will GZ. I don't think to many people would want him on another NW.

And GZ didn't recognize his own voice. I have two teenagers and I haven't heard either one of them scream in years. I certainly have never heard either screaming the primal scream of someone who knows they are about to die.

I can honestly say, I don't know if I could recognize my own teenagers' death screams if I heard them.

How often do you think a teenage boy screamed for his life around his dad?

Is that all the secret information you have that we are so uninformed about?

I'm not sure what the "too" part is about as I never mentioned I felt sorry for GZ. I never said I didn't, either.

Can you say more about this? I'm not sure it changes my mind, but it goes against something I've been assuming which is that Trayvon's mom had at least joint custody since the divorce.

90% of Trayvon's time would mean that he lived with dad full time up until at least 15, or later if he had visitation with mom.

I'm asking because if mom didn't have visitation until recently, then that does indeed change my opinion of her testimony. Did the defense bring this up when questioning her?

Sure, it was an interview with Alicia Stanley, Trayvon's stepmother, with Anderson Cooper. She believes Trayvon would not have approached Zimmerman. Alicia gave me more of an insight into TM's background. She touched my heart.

No, the defense did not bring this up. I think they were very careful in how they handled TM's mother.

This is definitely not a DIS friendly thread. I stopped posting and have only read it because of the bullying and ridicule from the Trayvon Martin supporters. Call it sarcasm but it is still mean-spirited. My advice to those posters who don't agree with them is to just stop posting and read it for the amusement of their attempted logic. That is quite entertaining on a rainy day.

You can not have a logical discussion with illogical people.

Just wait for their caustic responses.

Please go to law school. Please take evidence and moot court and trial techniques. Please sit through six or seven trials in which you are not emotionalky vested.

And then maybe you will understand what a load of BS you're trying to sell here.
