Genoa Illinois, PLEASE HELP......URGENT!

Thanks everyone! Just wanted to post that we made it there and back safely.

We did go up 24 to 57 and stopped overnight in Champaign.....about 3:00 AM EST. Then hit the road the next morning at 9:00 EST. About 14 miles from Champaign my transmission started acting up. Stopped a little mechanic that couldn't help us. Dad said we should go back to Champaign so we turned back. Went to the CAR-X CAR CARE CENTER and let me say Dave Peters and his staff are excellent, very friendly and so helpful. He wasn't sure he was going to be able to help us as it was Saturday and anyone that could work on the transmission wasn't open. Said they would look at it and see though. They determined that the chip or computer inside the trasmission was bad and wasn't reading if it was supposed to be in drive, reverse, park......it was just jumping all over the place. They were able to fix us and get us back on the road. They stayed over their closing time to get us taken care of. So if you are ever in that area and need a mechanic they were very helpful to us.

We then drove on to Delnor Community Hospital.......I think we went 74 from Champaign to Delnor.......miles and miles and miles of cornfields. Brought back flash backs from the Children of the Corn movie.:rotfl: Just joking......very beautiful country but I would be so lost in all those farms/corn fields without the GPS. (Dad came back home with us. His brother is home but on Hospice, heart related issues, family was told 3 months.....maybe more, maybe less.....no real way to know.

Dad's brother got to go home Saturday evening and so then we journeyed to their house in Genoa. Then Sunday morning after going by to visit with him a little while we hit the road back home. Now I should have just taken the map quest directions back down 74 to 57 to 24......but I thought well, we will just use the GPS.....that was stupid.....ended up going through Chicago (what a nightmare) into Indiana through Indianapolis. Finally got home about 11:30 PM EST last night. I don't think I have ever been more glad to be home. Today my shoulders ache and my neck is so tight..........if we go back I think I will fly or take the Amtrak out of Atlanta. All in all I think of the 56 hours we were gone.....about 70% of it was driving or waiting on the car repairs.

Thanks to all my wonderful DIS friends for your helpful information for my journey and your thougths and prayers!
