They no longer allow you to purchase ahead of time.
Undercover Tourist is selling tickets with them added still for a few more days.
They no longer allow you to purchase ahead of time.
If you want to add Genie+ to your hoppers, do it before June 8th (yes, you can still add it until then).I have oncoming trip two times during the summer and was afraid if they will raise prices for genie plus. Would you suggest for me to start thinking of buying genie plus ahead of time now? We only got 4 day park hopper tickets as annual passes are not back and I dont think they'll ever come back. Any tips?
Just making the most of my time with my kids one is in middle school and one is in high school. Sad how Disney is literally taking advantage of the fact that you cannot put a price on family time and they are!
Agree. Was at poly yesterday, around the pool, several people complaining about that genie. I hate the darn thing. But I don't like taking my phone. I need hands free for kiddos. I do like magic bands, ( most of the time), They need to perfect those things and drop the genie plus nonsense and go back to the bands IMHO.Option 2 is very interesting.
I think the move is to actually decrease the number of purchases, because satisfaction levels are not good. I haven't read any confirmation of this, but the fact they've not said people are happy with the system in investors call is meaningful. Also the new alert they've added pre-purchase ("this service actually sucks and you will get fewer rides than you think you would") shows they've had a lot of complaints.
The new rule will make people actually think daily if they want to buy it or not and many may decide to just pick some days during a lengthy stay.
But then the problem of keeping revenues intact comes and they are probably looking into surge pricing. Giving on site guests the option to pre-purchase at the minimum price would be a nice perk.
So you are ok with buying a park pass, only to have to pay more for a ride once you are in, and then even more on some rides?Option 2 is very interesting.

I think paid FPs are a disgrace. Disney was the only company that had a line skipping service included with the price of the ticket and I think it was one of the things that made the experience superior to other theme parks. But let's be real, a free service is not coming back now that management had a taste of the extra revenues. So better to have a service that works for everyone (both people who don't buy it who shouldn't be too penalized, and people who buy it who shouldn't have a more stressful day rather than an easier day) rather the mess that it currently is.So you are ok with buying a park pass, only to have to pay more for a ride once you are in, and then even more on some rides?
Also, I'm confused. Is genie plus a DVC perk, or is it only you can pay for it earlier? IN which case I'm paying monthly dues, park ticket and genie plus for what? I mean, how is that a perk? We get to spend more money on rides earlier? This is not a perk folks, this is a money grab.
Also I've been to the parks recently and judging by length of standby lines, LOUD complaining and kids crying to go back to pool, my guess is Genie is an epic fail. Am I wrong in this assumption?
I believe there is a couple other parks that have a better fast pass system, but rather than argue, and give info that will pack the other places, ( LOL), you are right, the only thing that will influence the money grabbers that run Disney, is to hit them in their pocketbook. stop buying stuff at the Parks, return food that isn't good, etc. and for heavens sake stop paying to go on rides that should be included in price of ticket.I think paid FPs are a disgrace. If, as DVC member, we can have an advantage, like buying it in advance for the minimum possible price, while they reduce the overall amount of G+ sold per day per park (via surge pricing), it wouldn't be a bad perk. That's what I was saying in my previous post.
I like this idea. Personally I have the idea of making genie + a free perk for direct Dvc and 15 dollars guaranteed advance purchase for nondirect dvc would drive sales up and help with resales too. But the amount of “day of genie “+ needs to be limitedWith the new Genie+ changes just announced I wonder if this will affect DVC? I have a few theories, hear me out:
1. Genie+ will be offered as a perk to Deluxe and DVC guests as an ability to pre-purchases ahead of "day of" or given as part of a stay like Universal does. The "subject to availability" point leads me to believe there will be some sort of priority given in booking genie+.
2. This opens the door for a surge pricing model for day of sales - based on any number of factors like ticket sales and park attendance. If they allow Deluxe/DVC to purchase ahead of time, I think they leave the $15 in tact for them but apply the surge pricing to the day of guests that purchase.
3. Genie+ could be offered as an exclusive DVC perk in order to drive sales to DVC.
Thoughts?
Personally, I don't see many DVC perks will come back until those of us that bought years ago, sell back . Why, Because Disney can make a TON more money off those resales. WE paid about 10K for 250 points a year plus from 1996 until 2001 we got free parkhoppers every time we stayed! Going in off season we had 3 -4 5 night stays a year! If we sold now we would triple our money back. However, using our points around the world, on properties Disney has put it's seal on has been great! Vacation's we could never have afforded without DVC!I like this idea. agree, it was very affordable back in the 90s to go to Disney even fairly last minute. Now need to plan and plan and plan to the point where I am not looking forward to taking my grandchildren. Check on the Disney World app under Tickets and Passes. Can someone help - I bought tickets (with Genie plus) through Undercover Tourist. Yesterday, I logged in and linked things to MDE and even made my first two park reservations (which I know requires tickets).
I was going first going to ask how I can confirm that genie+ was on the tickets I purchased through UC (yes, I added and paid for that option) but when I logged into MDE just now, the "Park Tickets" icon is the only icon in the My Plans section that isn't shaded in. My family and friends, resort, park reservations and dining are all filled in.
Thanks for anyone who can answer any of this.
Tried that. They don't show up there either but it is letting me make park pass reservations for my other days. I tried to re-link the UT tickets from the startyourdisneyexperience.com site again but it says they are already linked. Disney's IT is just awful.Check on the Disney World app under Tickets and Passes.
I think you have hit the nail of the head. My biggest objection to Genie+ relates to the additional hassle and stress this paid for service creates. It was bad enough having to be ready at 7am to get your LL pass, but having to buy your Genie+ pass everyday is just ridiculous. I am based overseas and like many other guest from overseas we tend to spend a bit longer in the parks. Usually for us it’s around 3 weeks. The thought of having to do this everyday of our vacation is just a nightmare. We won’t do it.I think paid FPs are a disgrace. If more people would notice how it can ruin a vacation and opt to not buy it atleast everyday. Disney might change it. I'm going for 7 days we are planning on using it for 2 days and only at Hollywood Studios.I think you have hit the nail of the head. If their are no changes which will allow the advance purchase of Genie+ it will change our Disney vacation plans. We will still visit DVC, but will spend less time at Disney parks and will visit other tourist attractions. It has put us off buying anymore DVC points. I wouldn’t buy DVC now. We are also more likely just to rent out our points each year. Holidays are supposed to be relaxing, Genie+ doesn’t do this for us in the current format.
