Genie+ - Why is it so limited

If these family's want to go they can get there own mde and manage there own family's. I understand that maybe you feel like you are the planner so you have to do it.. or they are older and don't have smart phones. But this is to much. 4 groups will never be hanging by the hip all trip nor wanting to do all the same rides. This is just a recipe for you burning out and hating your own vacation.

When we did multiple groups we only planned a few meals together and a shopping day. Other than that they wanted to do there own thing.

I get what you're saying but I planned our last trip for 3 households, back when there was FP+, and it was no problem. We have never been ones to be joined at the hip - but we did like to ride rides together for the most part. We'd plan our fastpasses, meet up for those, and then split in the afternoon for a bit and then reconnect at dinner. This is what I mean about Genie+ being more complicated in my circumstance, at least. And with Genie+, we either all need to buy it or none of us, if we want to be able to ride together. I THINK it also means if we want to ride together one person needs to make all the LL's for everyone. But then what happens if one person wants to stop off to do something else from the group? Is that going to throw their return times off from everyone else. Maybe it will be easier in practice, but in theory it just seems complicated.

I will say I am probably feeling more nervous and overwhelmed by Genie+ because I'm planning for a larger, multi-generational group. If it was just my nuclear family maybe it would be easier. But our group is comprised of 4 different households, so figuring out who is going to buy Genie+ and when, realizing that I am going to be the one with my face stuck in a phone all day (as opposed to planning ahead of time). We used to always take an afternoon break but Genie+ has changed our entire touring style.
We have 10 going with us and I'm the family planner. We've been going for years and rolled with the changes, from sb to paper fastpass to fastpass +. Genie + is tough. Planning in advance was a lot easier than planning on the fly with a large group. Historically we rope drop, head back to the resort for pool fun then head into another park for dinner and nighttime shows. I'm not sure Genie + is going to work for the way we like to Disney.

It won’t be as limited once they raise the price of G+. Demand will go down and there will be more ride times available. I see this coming in the next few months.

I don't see this happening until they get G+ working better. I think I read in the earnings report that about 1/2 of guests are purchasing G+/ILL. That leaves a lot that still aren't and I'm sure Disney wants as much of that revenue as possible, while still keeping the guests happy.

I wish we knew the general feedback that Disney is getting regarding G+ in the parks. My summary right now... it seems as though the value of G+ isn't all that great, but it's better than nothing.

The more you increase the price, fewer and fewer will buy it, but you are also then getting back closer and closer to everyone being standby, which is an even worse problem. I think Disney needs to open up more spots in the LL's so that G+ availability is better throughout the day and lasts for more of the day. Reports now are that folks are flying right through the LL's. I'm o.k. with having, say, up to a 10 minute wait in the LL if it means that I have more G+ availability throughout the day for more attractions. That will make it more attractive and worthwhile IMO.

I feel like it took them a while to work out the kinks of FP+. I did not enjoy my first FP+ trip for that reason (having to go to a kiosk if you were park hopping or something weird like that). I'm neutral on Genie+ for the moment, we'll see how it works when we use it in April.

Casual users didn't like FP because the good rides were gone at least a month out.

The more guests buy G+, the longer those lightning lanes will get. if enough guests buy it they will for sure raise the price.

Everyone being standby would actually be better. Standby lines get longer when they have to prioritize the guests in the lightning lane.

With the 2 hour window I dont think they have to tap in to get an new one it might just fall off. So if people dont wanna go they can just skip it? With that many folks I would legit jsut say no genie + maybe buy a few ILL. If the lines are super super long for the kids maybe just a more relaxed vacation. idk planning genie + days for jsut me and my husband are more than enouhg I cant imagine multiple groups trying to cordinate.. Man I miss Fp+. :(

Yes, this. Eliminates all the G+ technical issues too...

Well that would certainly solve the park crowding problem. Make the parks standby only and very few people will return for a repeat visit.

After last summer, when everything was standby only, we said we would not come back until a system like fast pass was in place. Even though G+ is subpar to FP+, I am willing to give it a try this summer. After that we will determine if we will be coming back.

But it also eliminates a lot of profits for Disney. No way will they drop this money-grab unless they compensate for it by raising ticket prices for all. Are you willing to pay more for your ticket and then do SB only all day? Because that would be the only way this makes sense financially for Disney. And to Disney, that is the only thing that matters.
