Genie+ Actually Sells Out for the First Time!

Agreed. If anything, it seems like the rate of people renewing is extremely high these days, as folks don't want to lose access to their APs. This time of the year can often be crazy, with the convergence of President's Day, Valentine's Day, Mardi Gras (some years), and Daytona all around the same time. And yea, people sick of cold weather, too!

Totally agree! Presidents Day, Mardi Gras, Daytona & most of the northeast on school break plus travel in general seems to be high on people’s list. Not surprised the parks are packed. January & February were getting more crowded for years before Covid.

And people still have APs with closure extensions? Almost 3 years later?

I was tracking wait times around noon today (2/20) and the lines weren't terrible for the average rides (still crazy long for the super popular rides). Still Genie+ return times. When did it sell out?
Sometime between noon and 2pm. I was looking all morning until about noon. Went off to do a few things, looked again just before 2pm and it was gone. So as stated above, this isn’t going to be a “must buy right at 7 or 8am” thing.

My guess is that they got complaints yesterday that required a refund and Disney figured out how many they sold before guests complained. Magic they have their max number. I looked at what was available after they stopped selling and they still had a few good rides with availability close to close.
I don't think it's a matter of "how many" sold but more so your second point. If you're just buying Genie+ for the first time at 1pm on a holiday weekend you're going to get VERY little use out of it and I'd expect people buying and then seeing that nearly every popular ride was done for the day would just lead to headaches.

It’s wild that it didn’t sell out over Christmas an NYE! Do we think they have now set a limit?? I did complain once and ask for a refund once while there over NYE because we could hardly get any rides and it was such a waste. I can imagine that happens to a lot of people.
I suspect they may have learned a lesson over the Xmas season which after taking a closer look led them to decide to stop sales when a certain amount of the daily LL capacity has been allocated. Just a guess on my part but I'd bet they had tons of complaints at guest services from people who bought later in the day just to find they could use LL on no more than 1-2 rides and not at all on the top 4-5 rides in the park. Just not worth it to continue to sell at that point.
