It's been a while since I posted, but I knew that if there was anywhere to get good ideas, it would be the Dis Boards!!! :thumbsup2

I have a workplace Christmas party to attend on Friday night, and we are supposed to bring a wrapped gift, no greater than $10.00. We have men and women, ages 21 to 65! I was thinking a gift card to Barnes & Nobles, but after reading the "Gift Card" thread, I'm not so sure. ;)

Any good ideas?

We had an office party like that one year and I bought Christmas dishes at Walgreens for $10.
This party was one whrere you could steal the gifts.
It was the most popular gift there.
So thats my suggestion is some holiday dishes.

I love the gift card idea. Go for it! :thumbsup2

I'd stay away from gifts that are too specific, a gift card is ideal.

Chocolate. You can never go wrong with chocolate.

Fleece blanket

Fudge covered apples

Singing holiday stuffed animal

Snow scraper and de-icer

Hot cocoa gift basket

Gift basket from local bakery

We are having a party on Sat with the same guidelines. We bought a $10 gc for the movie theatre and a $10 mug from Target that you plug into the car cig lighter and has 4 different temps (tepid, warm, hot) to keep your drink hot.

I love the fleece blanket--I got one for Christmas from a co-worker last year and I still use it at work all the time. (Our office is always cold.)

Another idea is a calendar.

I must have missed the gift card thread. Makes me wonder why it would have made you rethink your gift. I think gift cards are perfect for occasions like this.

We used to do the gift exchange where you could steal another person's gift at my old office. Bottles of wine were always the most popular items. Also, 10 scratch lottery tickets, gift cards, fun office items, like the Scooby Doo stapler I ended up with once. :thumbsup2

Stuff that never got stolen: Xmas decorations, candles and coffee. Not that there's anything wrong with them. :rotfl:

Thanks for all the replies! This was the first time I was able to get back to the boards, and came back to some good ideas!

I found out that this is a "Dirty Santa" gift exchange. LOL, a few years ago I won a "Bathroom Book" --- one that has lots of short stories *just* long enough to read in the potty -- at a Dirty Santa exchange. hehehe. . .maybe I'll recycle it. . . naw, I'd rather give the gift that everyone *wants*!

Thanks for the ideas!

Buy a large bag and fill it with 10 unique items from the dollar store.
Even a few gag items:)

I thought I'd follow up on the the gift situation! ;)

Well, I went to World Market and filled a gift bag with yummy chocolate. Then I got a coffee cup that I had from the Alabama Shakespeare Festival and filled it with packets of hot chocolate. So, basically, it was a gift of chocolate.

And, what did I get playing Dirty Santa? hehe. . .well, when my number came around, I stole a previous gift of a Santa in his low-rider, bumpin' hydraulics convertible car. . .it even played "Low Ry-der" ;)

I had to have it for my kiddos, who really loved it. And I didn't have to worry too much about having it stolen from me! :D

I have a Christmas Party to go to too and we have the same thing. We're doing a grab bag with a 10$ limit. There will be probably 1 guy there (possibly 2) and like 10 girls. I got a 10$ gift card to Sheetz, which is a very popular place in my town, you can't go there without seeing at least one person you know. I was a little mean when I was wrapping it last night, though. I wrapped the gift card like a zillion times with wrapping paper, just kept going around and around and around and it ended up being like 1/2 and inch thick. Then I put it in a box with a ton of candy (I had that left over from my actual Chrismtas gifts that I'm giving to my friends). I taped that box up real good and wrapped it. Then I put it in another box that was a little bigger. Then I filled the bigger box with styrofoam peanuts, taped it up really well and wrapped it. Whoever gets it is going to hate me, but they definitly earn the gift card. LOL.
