General Star Wars Discussion

What a coup for Burger King back in the day. I swear that's probably why we started going there and would go back there 1:1 with McDonalds after those glasses came out.

Can't wait for these to drop.

For me the story arc from Andor 1 through Rogue 1 is right up there near OG trilogy.

I think the direct connection to the OG at the end of R1 helps elevate it for me, but this show has been very very well done.

I was reading up a bit on Tony Gilroy's reshoots for Rogue One. I guess I'll spoiler in case someone hasn't seen Rogue One or forgot what happens in it and is planning to watch it again after Andor is over. To that note, I bought Rogue One on 4K blu-ray.

Originally, Cassian and Jyn were going to have a romantic storyline in the original Edwards script. Gilroy rightly ditched that which good because of what the show has done with Bix. K2SO was the only one who died in the original movie. Gilroy changed the ending to make them all die because to him this movie was about the sacrifices some have to make for the Rebellion to live on. It's also good because it would've caused a "where are they during the OT" questions like people have for Ahsoka. Vader was down on Scariff killing rebel soldiers to keep the Rebels from getting the message out but that was wisely changed to the awesome hallway scene. I believe Gilroy also changed Jyn story from being recruited to find her dad to making her reluctant. Then he flipped the Rebellion leadership to being reluctant to go to Scariff because they were afraid of the cost. I also think the Vader on Mustafar scene was a Gilroy add since he's mentioned he wrote for Vader before when discussing why no Vader in Andor. The tie fighter shot from the trailer where it pops up when Jyn's on the platform was never meant to be in the movie. It was just a trailer fakeout.

Kinda rough day today between forgetting my work badge at home, having to go back, this awful new training we're getting, traffic, etc, etc. but doesn't matter. ANDOR is on tonight!! I'm so excited I"m about to burst. DS got me an awesome new Andor tshirt for Mother's Day, which I wore to work. Been wearing an Andor shirt the last few Tuesdays. Have another one for tomorrow.
Also part of Mother's Day; new Black series from DD, and kids agreed to watch something with me, my choice. Had originally considered Rogue One, but will wait until after tonight. I did rewatch the beginning tho, I'd kinda forgotten where Cassian, Jyn, etc are.
But we all watched the Rebels Secret Cargo episode with Mon Mothma. yeah, they kinda messed with canon....don't love that, but I also love, love what they did in Andor...so it's cool. Then watched the Saw Guerrera episode from season 4. that was really good. I'd totally forgotten it was about discovering the empire shuttling kyber crystals. He definitely displays his defiance of Mon Mothma, about not sitting waiting for orders, etc. but I forgot how much the Ghost crew kinda feel that way, just not to Saw's extreme, but still lots of guerilla attacks. Then I had to watch Jedi Night, and World Between Worlds, and the finale......just because.
Back to Andor!! one more hour. Will miss it. So extraordinary!

It was fantastic. This broke the mold for storytelling in the modern Star Wars era.

Gilroy was right about K2. It was totally worth waiting for because he is way too large for some of the stories they did. He was used perfectly. Hope everyone noticed when they blow up the Imperials, that's on Naboo. I couldn't place what Luthen was in his past when he found Kleya. Was he a separatist or an imperial shock trooper? The uniforms weren't clear. Kleya is the MVP of this show. Just a certified bad-A. Dedra getting put on Narkina is great but think about it. If she survives till the Emperor is killed, she's probably freed with everyone else. So she might make it out of all this. The Bix reveal, I knew that was coming but at least a part of Cassian lives on. Seriously, this was masterful. We're watching Rogue One tomorrow night. I can't wait till the weekend.

Well that was better than I was anticipating.

Everyone unaffiliated with Rogue One got a fitting conclusion. Luthen had been in the fight so long it was time for his light to pass to the future of the rebellion. Kleya surviving to see the fruits of their labor after taking her first action for the rebellion. Vel being a validation for Cassian/Kleya as the other remaining survivor of Aldhani. Dedra getting Narkina feels so much more satisfying than being placed on Scariff or the Death Star.

Wilmon getting a future with the Rebellion post Luthen/Saw would be good for his growth in the same vain as Cassian’s.

Knew Bix was coming, just a matter of where she settled with their child. Mina Rau makes sense in memory of Brasso.
