General Star Wars Discussion

Andor is not kiddie Star Wars, there is plenty of content for all... the Young Jedi... Skeleton Crew... let us have some dark adult Andor

I thought the assault scene was intense but it did not go to far. you cannot be ok with person after person getting shot, from the very first episode we have watched people over and over getting killed. We have watched scores of people at this point get killed in various ways... murdered shot in the face........ blown up.... that is ok, but at gunpoint Bix said he tried to rape me... and THAT is too much?

Rape is a reality of war, I thought it was well done and I was glad she beat the heck out of him. Poor Brasso :(
on a different note....

the fancy TIE stealing reminded me of Ezra doing something very similar

This is going to be a intense season. Loved it.

So, I have said that they didn't go too far, just right up to the line. A little "dark and gritty" is okay in Star Wars, however most of the violence in Star Wars is pretty "cartoony" - it's what Stan Lee used to call "Action" when super-heroes were criticized as being too violent. It's sort of a fine distinction, but it's one that I am sensitive to. It's all about tone and context. I get what they are trying to do - and you're right, it's a reality of war - but "reality" has very little to do with Star Wars.

The fact is, the one thing you can do to a kid's franchise is try to make it more adult - it backfires every time. Star Wars has always had a few layers though - I mean, Empire was criticized for being too dark back when it came out, and Jedi corrected for that. So, certainly there is room for this, but I still don't encourage them to go further. This can be the "Temple of Doom" of Star Wars - the most mildly inappropriate and best one! 😁 I'm fine with that.

I am way too old to be watching Young Jedi Adventures, but I find it oddly fascinating. It doesn't get much attention, which is actually kind of a good thing based on who/what some of the characters are.

I agree with you. I think the Star Wars universe is big enough to include silly fun adventure stories more appropriate for little kids/kids but also more mature stories better suited to teens/adults.

Except that doesn't seem to be the case here. Critics loved it as did many Star Wars fans.
