General Star Wars Discussion

So when this absolutely bombs, is it ok if I come back and say I told you so? Because it will bomb for sure. It will have a niche following of the same people that love several of the other Disneyfied Star Wars shows, but will not attract a significant portion of the casual fans or really even make any money for Disney+.

The next Star Wars content that will make any money will be the Mando movie which is reported to feature the real master Jedi Luke and not the grumpy old bum from TLJ.

On the contrary, most people in this thread write nuanced comments about recent Star Wars movies and TV shows. They don't have a predictable knee-jerk reaction one way or another.
most people on a Disney fan discussion site are actually into Disney products.. go figure huh? However some certain folks are only into outrage or rage baiting... they are not interested in genuine discussion. They like to post over the top (often only partially true) hyperbole statements that are designed to elicit a reaction, which is why you cannot take them seriously as they are not genuine. They are basically a bot without their own ideas ... which is why they always refer to what some reviewers said... or what a poll said. They cannot decide if they like something by themselves.... it is almost like they need to be told to like it or need the validation to feel safe to like something.

Some people on a Disney fan sight are willing to use objective information to consider that Disney is no longer the entertainment juggernaut they once were. Some of those same people happen to be long time investors who would love nothing more than for Disney to get their act together so the stock can climb out or the gutter. Others would rather be sunshine pumpers, which is their right also.

You ever been to a sports fan base board? Do those fans love it and pump sunshine when the team stinks?

And likely bombs, have you seen the comments on the trailers? Such is the state of today’s “Star Wars”. Harvey Weinstein’s personal assistant (Leslie Headland) may not have been a great choice as a show runner after all, who could have seen that coming?
Based on her resume, which includes EP'ing a well regarded Netflix series, along with over a decade of work in TV and film, she seems like a pretty reasonable pick to direct this series. You have a weird selective habit when it comes to caring about this stuff.

It may or may not bomb, however the reason for that will be key. You will assume it's only becuase of reasons that reinforce your perspective, when in reality it will liukely be numerous factors that contribute to how successful a show is or is not.

I do not care if they are a juggernaut. My enjoyment of a show or franchise is not affected by how many other people like it. I will not change my opinion merely because some online fan or self proclaimed expert disagrees with me. If I like it, I like it. If I don't like something, I don't like it and I move on. Do you really base your TV and Movie viewing only on what other people tell you?

"Hey honey, I thought I really enjoyed that show, but then I read a reviewer that told me I shouldn't... so now I hate it"

the post with just her picture without context or caption is a nice touch....

Although not sure what I am supposed to 'see' here.... but I am assuming it is negative

Wait, they were free? Man, I really wish one was near me now!
Put up a free hotdog stand on any busy street and see how many people line up. Now put a $6 hotdog stand up in the same area. Which one determines the paying customers true demand for hot dogs?

Yeah, I get it, they were free and they sold out. Still, I would have gone if they had one in my town, and I would've paid to do so!

This is exactly what happened with the prequles/Episode I. Everybody I knew had enjoyed it. Then, somehow, they were all making fun of it with the same exact talking points. 🙄
Same thing happened with TLJ too once the cry baby grifters started pumping out rage bait videos.

Just watched Rogue 1 with one of my sons. Such a good movie.
Now he's motivated to continue the saga with A New Hope :)
I for one am looking forward to "The Acolyte". I've really enjoyed the spin-off series on D+.

I'm in the process of working my way through "The Clone Wars" as well. So much to watch, so little time :)
IMO, Rogue 1 was the only good Star Wars movie that Disney made. It's a shame they didn't make more like that. Rogue 1 feels authentic.
