any tips??

Hi! Congrats on planning your wedding! I don't know how much of help I can be...but here is my best...

1) You said you want about 50 people, so that would be a custom wedding. There are set minimum prices for that, so check with Disney weddings to see how much it will cost.

2) I live in NJ and it was not hard to plan @ all! My EM was great. You should have no problem planning.

3) For an intimate my guests did not get room/park discounts...check it out for customs though...

Good Luck!

Custom Weddings do get rooms blocked at a discount price, similar to how a convention is booked. Not sure on the rates though, it has been a while for us.

I planned our wedding from Phoenix, with only one visit, a year prior, where we toured locations. We never did a meeting with our EM, never did a food or cake tasting, and it was a perfect wedding.

I believe the current minimum expenditures are about $7500 for week days, $10,000 for weekends, but they may be higher now, or as you do your booking 8 months prior to your wedding date. What we found was had we gotten married at home we would have spent that much or more, with all the extra have to invite people from our jobs and church. We had an event that was very special for 30 of us, all family, and it was wonderful. I'm sure you see lots of the special things that can be planned as you read the threads. There is an Unofficial Guide web site that has many couples wedding stories, including our own, but I don't have the site address here.

For my intimate coming up in December, we do have discounted park hoppers for guests of the wedding. They are only good for up to 10 days after the wedding, however, and they are offered in 2, 3, 4 and 5-day incriments (they come with extras, such as admission to PI and/or DQ).
No discounts for rooms though. But if there are AP holders in your wedding, they can book up to three rooms on their AP if there is a discount, and must be present at check-in. I am doing this for my future in-laws since we are all arriving on the same day.

We got some good room discounts, up to 40% off rack rate, for our custom wedding with 40 guests.

The guests also got the offer of cheap park tickets but these were only good for a few days and not for life like the normal Disney Hoppers.

Disney weddings are not hard to plan from a long distnace - I live in the UK and had no problem at all planning with Disney.

The minimums are still $7,500 (weekday) and $10,000 (weekend) not including tax and this will include anything that Disney provide for you on the day.
