none, nope, nil ,zilch. The only thing I saw was the usual advertisement in our Sunday paper. It was just explaining how a family of 4 can travel to visit Disney for $1500........

Thank you for the info, and for taking the time to post it. I wonder, at any given time, just how many rooms are on hold or set aside. Must be hard to run that type of a business. I think this explains why I was able to get my neighbors rooms for April 16-23 (using their postcard rate), which is our Spring Break. I wonder if some of the "held" rooms are now being released.

I had a similar thought. I can't help thinking that even though a room isn't available at a discount rate today, that doesn't mean it won't be later. If rooms become available (whether because of cancellations or rooms that were being held by Disney and other companies) at a late date, I bet they'll be discounted immediately - better Disney sells them at a discount than lets them sit empty, right? So I will call and check every day or two, until the day we leave, to see if something is available.

CarolA, you have told me what I needed to know. I think I am officially giving up on codes for May. I'm going to stop torturing myself (& DH with all the talk about them). I'm going to pay rack rate somewhere and have a wonderful, fabulous, magical time!

That is the spirit...yes it would be nice to stay at a deluxe if you usually stay moderate (or mod if usually value) but with the codes you will only save a few bucks on a week trip (under $200).

NOW I KNOW THAT IS a LOT OF $$$ but there are other ways to save...(we were in the same predicament and said forget we are going to AKL and payng rack w/ myw...we just need to save a little more!!!!) Have a great time!

WAIT! I am by no means a code expert. (Being a DVC member I tend to follow this occassionally!) I was just posting what I read.... I am not attempting to forecast LOL! (If I could predict codes I could also predict winning lottery ticket numbers and then codes would not be important)

Carol, I'm not arguing about who knows more. I am very curious, however, how anyone knows either way, beyond guessing, since I've been told Disney doesn't release that info. Do I think they are doing better (just a guess) than they have after 9/11? I sure do, but have I personally had any problem getting rooms in 7 visits in the past year? No, and to my eye, the resorts haven't seemed very crowded when I'm there. I've made my PS's once I'm there, instead of in advance with no porblems (including winter break week) I've walked on most everything, going to the parks on non holiday or weekends. I don't "do" the deluxes, so maybe that is where the crowds are. I have no doubt that the past 8 weeks have been record bookings with the new packages....or at least since 9/11. Is this record bookings for always..even before when Disney didn't have to offer any codes at all? I don't know. I'm just always curious as to where people get their info. No law against that.

I don't know the Mouseplant source, but over the years I have realized they have VERY good souces (seem to have lots of CM details) I would expect that if they were having record bookings they might have announced it to the CMs at the booking center? You know most call centers have goals/objectives and the employees know how they are doing against them. I would assume CRO works the same way???

I'm going to guess that something was released only because last week there were no POR Standard AP rooms May 27-30 (my dates) and this morning there was. Which I was able to book. I cancelled a WL Woods View AP for the same time period. I didn't want to spend the extra money for WL this time since I have to buy my AP renewals this trip. I wonder where my cancelled room goes? CM's tell me back to the rack rate pool. But where did my POR AP Standard room come from this morning? Good questions, way too many answers. I just hope my waitlist comes through for DVC so I don't have to move from BCV half way through my trip. These days weren't available when I booked BCV and I had to find elsewhere to stay. My own fault since I kept changing my mind and got caught up in the AP frenzy!

Don't worry.....I'm not considering you my new travel advisor (although I'm sure you'd be qualified ). I'm just saying that I've decided to stop obsessing. Don't get me wrong....if a code becomes available I will certainly try to take advantage, but I'm not going to rest the success of my trip on it.

I wonder if Disney uses something like the airlines do for yield management. There are x amount of seats on the planes and the airlines are suppose to have computer models that release seats at the various rates based on past history, current bookings and other considerations.

If they do, the rooms in any status could change constantly just like seats on the planes.

Large websites such as travelocity and expedia block out rooms from Disney, but your local travel agent, or even many web-based Disney specialist agencies, mostly sell directly from Disney inventory.

Many agencies will, however, put a room on hold when you submit a request for a quote, so that if you decide to take that quote, the room is available for you. If you don't take it, it goes back into the pool after 14 days.

Just thought of other rooms that are held - rooms are held for the Disney Cruise Line Land and Sea vacations too.
