General chit chat thread.

Evenin' all!!! :goodvibes
I'm in my Christmas Eeyore PJs and lovely comfy Hollywood Hotel robe as our FND plans have been postponed. The lighting circuit has tripped and I can't re-set it so would've probably ended up going out to dinner looking like this!!!

OK that's better than I usual manage but even so... ;)

Anyway, the fabulous Richard has come home early, we're enjoying a cheeky Kir Royale and I found the wind-up torches I'd bought everyone in the family for Christmas so all is good... :thumbsup2
Have fun everyone!!! xxx

Good Morning everyone

This thread had slipped onto page 2 - we cant have that. Its not as though we've run out of things to chat about - or have we? :rotfl:

Happy Sunday everyone, what are you up to today ?

I'm hoping to see 2012 at lunchtime, then tonight we've got some family coming round for Sunday dinner

Have a great day everyone :thumbsup2

Not much going on here today....I am going to do some ironing & cook roast lamb whilst hubby is doing a few chores like fixing our cloakroom sink which has a leak.

Morning all - no major plans for me today - hopefully going to get through a good amount of my present wrapping for the year, but don't think there's much else apart from that :goodvibes

We've had a terrible night with the girls, both up throughout the night with sore thoats etc. So I have a headache and we're all just bumbling around the house quietly, IYKWIM. We finished most of our christmas shopping yesterday and I wrapped all the kids presents in the afternoon:santa: but it didn't cheer me up, I must admit I've been a bit down in the dumps all weekend over a few things concerning eldest DD and school, she had a major homework meltdown on friday night and hinted that some classmates have commented on her work (some of you may know she is suspected Dyslexic) and to top it all yet again she has no real part to play on the Christmas play at school, I know she struggles to carry out instuctions, but it's meant to be a play with infants in it for goodness sake, I suspect the head wants it to be as near as perfect on the day  I don't want her to be put under pressure but I don't think they realise how hard she (we) are working at the moment and a one line part would be such a confidence boost to a child that really lacks in that dept.
Well, there you go, that off my chest to my DIS friends, I just can't get it out of my mind. I hate to think of her going to school and struggling, it doesn't come easy to her and we are doing everything we can, DH wants to get a private tutor, I'm not so sure at the age as I don't want her education led from two sides and causing her more confusion.........my heads all messed up with what to do for the best :sad2::sad2:

I have got any advice Joanne but I have got some big hugs for you.

Joanne, I know what you are going through. I had a constant worry with my DD at school. She was slower than others with most subjects and needed some extra support. When we moved here to Muscat she was moving from the Scottish curriculum to the English one so they assessed her and turned out she had a form of dyslexia. Homework was always a battle as she seemed to forget what she had been asked to do.

Anyway sorry for waffling but just wanted let you know you are not alone in this.

On a lighter note I went for a facial today and am now cooking chicken in a cider sauce for later. Even have enough left to have a glass of too:)

:hug: Oh Joanne, I wish I had some words of wisdom for you, but I hope lots of hugs will do :hug: Thinking of you both hun :hug:

 i hate the christmas plays at school Joanne, it winds me up that the golden children always get the best parts

Hope the girls are better soon xx

I'm still bitter (40+ years later!!) that the local policeman's daughter always got to play Angel Gabriel just because she had blonde curly hair.

:lmao: Me and Joh were just talking about this very subject yesterday, I know the staff want the play to be good but us mums just want to see the kids on stage !!

The juniors at DD school is not doing a play this year, just a concert which I am happy with. Though last year in the infants they gave every child a part, the younger classes did a dance while everyone in the last year of the infants got a speaking park even if it was just a line. The 5 seconds pause that DD did before saying her line must of been the longest in my life!!:rotfl:

Good morning. It's was so dark this morning - I usually wake up before the alarm goes off but not today. Despite having slept soundly I'm in total zombie mode and feel as though I haven't been to bed at all!

I'm having my second mug of tea now - I hope it helps to wake me up.

I feel very similar...

Maybe it's a super secret to turn us all into zombies - something to do with christmas shopping or disney holidays maybe :lmao:
