:scared1: good luck with that Karen ! ive decided not to stress about going back to school till after the weekend ;)

Happy Tuesday Karen, it looks like you've got an exciting few weeks ahead of you :thumbsup2

So the countdown to craziness continues!!!

I have to confess, this morning I'm slightly daunted by the prospect of:
1) starting a major building project,
2) getting the baby back to school,
3) going on the Girly weekend,
4) departing for an extended 17 day DCL/WDW trip - ALL OVER THE NEXT TWO WEEKS!!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Oh well, what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger - allegedly... ;)

In an attempt to get a grip, last night I ordered a load of magnetic paper and have finally started designing a few door magnets - why oh why don't I just make generic ones that can be used from cruise to cruise??? :sad2:

Anyway, with the revised luggage guidelines in mind, I purchased three new cases. I have spent what seems like ages researching weight/size so glad to finally get that out of the way...

Now I'm turning my attention to planning for the builder's final pre-work visit tomorrow. I've persuaded Richard to take on the role of "difficult client" as he's not around very often so he's going to work from home in order to meet with the guy for the first time - and start making the demands I'm too cowardly to communicate! ;)

I'm off to the gym at 1.30pm and shopping afterwards...

Have a great day, everyone!!! :goodvibes

It will all work out in the end, I don't envy you except for your trips:rotfl2:

Well i'm still playing the waiting game with work who have yet to reply to my 2 emails querying a shift block I have. I doubt I will hear anything. Hoping tomorrow I can speak to the station secretary to see if she can chase my transfer up. I do know that if it doesn't go through soon I will probably end up quitting:headache:

Snap! This what we do:rotfl2: our builder is also coming tomorrow evening to sign the contract for our extension and we've already had a few rounds of "good cop, bad cop" with them. I'm worse than useless trying to communicate my demands:rolleyes:

I'm so looking forward to our european Center Parcs week on friday, Richard and I are in need of some R&R after all the grief with the extension planning and some very recent grief with his parents has given us the blues. I'm already planning my Spa treatments:goodvibes

I've just dropped the girls at tennis club so I'm going to start packing, I have euros to go and get and visit the Docs for R's prescription.

I need to put in a leave request soon as otherwise they will reject them due to not enough hours:headache:

Thanks for all your comments about my car. I called again this morning after I hadn't heard anything back yesterday, I was quite abrupt with the woman & told her to pass the message on that I wanted a call back today. Well it worked as he called within an hour but my phone went straight to answerphone. :confused3 :headache: Anyway in his message he gave me the name of the lady who deals with claims, she is off until tomorrow but he has requested for her will call me & send out a claim form then take it from there......what a hassle.

Today I have been feeling a bit under the weather so just pottering about doing laundry, doing some paperwork, preparing dinner & watching tv.

Hope you have a fab time next week Joanne. :)

Samuel returns on September 1st, how mad is that - tho' I've noticed some of the schools around here have gone back today??!!! Fortunately he's had his obligatory haircut and we just have to pick up an extra suit as he had most of his new stuff for work experience. Everything else is down to him... ;)

Happy Tuesday Karen, it looks like you've got an exciting few weeks ahead of you :thumbsup2
It's a real rollercoaster, Mandy!!! And I've just remembered I have to call the Passport Office first thing tomorrow morning to get an appointment for an express 1 day passport as mine expires in November!!! Talk about cutting it fine... :rolleyes1

Sorry to hear that!!! After all your hard work too - hope things work out...

:lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: We're signing our contract tomorrow too!!! TBH I've not had any difficulties so far - they've been most accommodating and did a really good job on Sophie's place so they know the kind of finish we're after. However, they do like ripping out and I originally agreed to that BUT I've now decided I'd prefer them to retain a few things - or rather Richard's decided he wants them to ;) and he's going to show his stubborn streak tomorrow...

Sounds like this situation could become a proper PITA, Claire!!! :faint: Fingers crossed it doesn't and your claim is processed asap, hun... xxx

Hope you feel better, hun...

Thanks.

I have a feeling they are going to mess me about but I need to use my car for the airport run as all our luggage won't fit in Lee's so they have got to sort it quick or I will be getting it fixed & sending them the bill.

You are gonna need a holiday after you've sorted all that out! :scared1:

Do NOT tempt me, Mrs!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

My lady doglets are going to kennels on September 8th for an extended period of time - until all the dangerous work is done and the garden is made secure. SO I'm wondering if I can whisk DH away for a trip to Paris (thanks Bev for reminding me how much I love it there!) whilst they are still being looked after...???? :cloud9: :thumbsup2

TBH I would be getting it fixed myself, Claire - that airport run is too flippin' important... :sad2: Don't know whether I'd be encouraged or discouraged that they have a lady that deals with claims... On the one hand, at least they have a lady and claim forms!!! :yay: But on the other, just how many claim forms are there and is one lady enough???

GOOD LUCK!!! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Whilst I remember to those going away soon have a fantastic time.

Thanks Karen, you know how I feel which helps a lot, about Thailand. We are looking forward to our break in London/Paris, it will be nice to go away as a couple for a change.:) In Paris we will just concentrate on the main sights and fit any others in if we can.

Hope your car gets sorted out Claire.

Sorry to hear that!!! After all your hard work too - hope things work out...

Thanks, I am looking at the option of applying for the London Ambulance service for the Student Paramedic as that is what I want to be (if I stay in the service) & atm I can't go any further as my grade:rolleyes:

I hope you manage to get things sorted Nikki. :wizard:

Thanks, I know they are going to be difficult but its not my fault I wasn't on station at the start of the new annual leave period. Its bad enough i'm where I am but to deny me leave will really set me off.

Hope you feel better soon:hug:

When we used to leave in the afternoon our jet lag used to be very much worse, we were all up and about during the night. The evening flights are a lot easier to get over, I think. We had a few nights of being up till 2 ish which was equivalent to our normal Florida bedtime when you take in the time difference. Just takes your body a while to get back in to sync.

Thanks Karen and ItsASmallWorld for your advice. Looks like we will be doing this route - Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Champ, Place de la Concorde, Jardin, Louvre, Notre Dame and Sacre Coeur. Is that okay? Doable in 7 hours or less? Just looking at them, not bothered about going in them on this visit.

We obviously have to make sure we are back at the latest at 5.45 to catch train back to London and intend making the Sacre Coeur the last stop. We plan to go to the tube station closest to it, walk up, see it then catch the tube back to Gare du Nord. However, I don't know how long it would take to walk from the tube to Sacre Coeur, anyone got any rough ideas? Also is it a vast distance from Sacre Coeur or is it walkable to Gare du Nord? Thanks for any help.

Hope every one has a good day. Hope your car was sorted out Claire.

I am busy preparing for trip, also helping eldest son as he is off to Hong Kong and Thailand tomorrow. Absolutely dreading the thought of him and his girlfriend wandering around Thailand, just praying he comes home safe on 12th September. Hong Kong I feel okay about as he will be staying with his girlfriend's parents. Also helping the youngest son as he is off tomorrow to the Leeds Festival, so hoping everything goes okay for him because for once we will be away together for the first time in 21 years which I am hugely looking forward to but will be a little bit strange without the lads but then they wouldn't be at home anyway.

The nearest metro station to Sacre Coeur is Anvers and then you need to walk up a hill (lined with cheap tourist shops) and then you are at the bottom of the scare coeur. You then walk up the steps to the top or there is a funicular lift which uses one metro ticket. It doesnt take that long to walk to it but is nice to explore the area behind it - Montmatre where all the artists are.

Dont do what we did once and try and find a different metro station instead of going back to Anvers - they look close on the map but arent and are difficult to find. Go back to Anvers and get the metro from there to Gare du Nord

Not guilty!

I was referring to you needing the cruise/wdw not another holiday!!!! But Paris sounds good. ;)

Good Morning everyone

Ugghh ! It's yucky here, thanks to the remnants of Hurricane Bill

I was hoping to go shopping with Becky this morning to Leicester, but I don't know whether the rain will put her off

What are your plans ? Have a good day whatever you're up to :)
