General chit chat thread.

It's a horrid wet day here today. I've also been doing housework this morning and now, once lunch is finished, we are going to sort out the kids schoolbags and pencil cases etc as they are back to school on Tuesday. better check them to make sure we have everything as I bought all the stuff weeks ago

Good luck Karen:thumbsup2

For those who asked here is the recipe for the Chocolate Banana Cake:

Its a low fat recipe but you don't have to use low fat stuff if you don't want to. Also the cake is moist enough without the icing if you don't want that either.

Ingredients to serve 8:

8oz (225g) Self Raising flour
3 tablespoons (45ml) fat reduced cocoa powder
4oz (115g) light muscovado sugar
2 table spoons of malt extract (we used black treacle)
2 table spoons of golden syrup
2 eggs
4 tablespoons skimmed milk
4 tablespoons sunflower oil
2 large ripe bananas

For the icing:
8oz icing sugar sieved
7 teaspoons fat reduced cocoa sieved
1-2 tables spoons warm water.

Cooking:

1. Pre heat oven to 160 degrees C/325 F or gas mark 3. Grease & line a deep round 8 inch (20cm) cake tin.

2. Sieve flour into mixing bowl with the cocoa, Stir in the sugar

3. Make a well in the centre & add the treacle, golden syrup, eggs, milk & oil. Mash the bananas thoroughly & stir into mixture till well combined.

4. Pour the mixture into the prepared tin & bake for 75 minutes or until the centre of the cake springs back when lightly pressed

5. Remove cake from the tin & leave to cool on a wire rack.

6. Reserve 2oz icing sugar & 1 teaspoon cocoa powder. Make a dark icing by beating the remaining sugar & cocoa podwer with enough of the warm water to make a thick icing. Pour over the cover & spread evenly.

Make a light icing by mixing the remaining sugar & cocoa powder with a few drops of water, drizzle the icing across the top of the cake.

great :thumbsup2 thanks Nikki

Me and Joh are waiting for everyone else to wake up so we can start getting ready to hit the shops ;)

:rotfl2::rotfl2: Keen then?

Hope you have a lovely shopping day girlies...:thumbsup2

We have no plans for the day, I wanted to go to Thorpe Park but Richard got in from work at 11.50 last night and didn't finish the system upgrade he was working on so he is busy dialed in upstairs - his bank will have no dealing on Monday if he doesn't do it - so no pressure then ;)
He's pretty fried so he'll probably be sleeping this afternoon so I might take the girls to visit their grandparents.
The sun is coming out through the clouds now:)
I'm cooking a Jamie oliver curry reciepe for dinner tonight:cool1:

Thorpe park tomorrow hopefully:thumbsup2

Have a lovey day everybody:)

Poor guy!!! Hope he gets to relax later... Have fun and enjoy Thorpe Park tomorrow... :goodvibes

My menfolk are about to leave for Birmingham and the joys of Villa Park. They're totally stressing me out as they're going by train and seem to be cutting it fine!!! Aaargh!!! Just go, FGS!!!!

we're off to starbucks, and then to tesco, what fun for today. I don't really like starbucks coffee that much, prefer cafe nero as it is stronger coffee.

I'm not a fan of Starbucks coffee tho' my preference is Costa Coffee... :coffee:

Yes!!! Beepin' nuisances!!! :rotfl::lmao::rotfl:

Costa Coffee is nice too, I used to love starbucks untill I got addicted to coffee,:lmao:

I'm waiting for my quote from Dreams unlimited for next year for the Polynesian though not sure what type of room/view to book. I would love a MK view however could get a garden view club level room for not that much more,:confused3 or I could get a normal garden view and save money for something else.:confused3

If you're considering it, the garden view club level is a good choice as you get to see Wishes in the concierge lounge anyway - if I remember rightly the music's piped in. Nothing beats sitting in a big squidgy sofa, nursing a glass of wine and enjoying the fireworks! We found the concierge lounge brilliant. We don't eat that much so were able to graze there if we didn't fancy a big meal in the evening... I loved the staff there too... I'm making myself wanna go back now!!! :goodvibes

Sounds very nice, I don't think we will be eating big meals every night so sounds ideal especially with DD. We are planning more resort time next year

Not a great result for the Villa Karen :rotfl2:

We had a great day in Leicester !! we were VERY worried that the sales would be over and we would struggle to buy anything, fears were totally unfounded and we managed to get what we wanted :cool1:

We also both brought new Terramundi pots ( saving spree ones ) and mine has its first new note ( a twenty) in it.

Enjoy your sat night all x
