General chit chat thread.

Morning ,
Heavy rain fall expected here today , it's very dark this morning so i don't think it's going to be long before the heavens open.
Hairdresser coming this morning to give me a trim . Not going anywhere today so might scan some photo's & do a little scrapbooking.
Hi Jill! Hope you're keeping well and enjoy the scrapbooking...

Aaaagh I think I have swine flu (or some other flu). Came home from work yesterday going dizzy, hot and achy and I just seem to have got worse. DF phoned the hotline for me this morning and they think its swine flu and have prescribed tamiflu (I have asthma). So DISing in bed for me - my brain seems to still work but I can't seem to do anything...
Sorry to hear this, Gemma! I had swine flu when we were away on hols and it wasn't fun but fortunately it didn't last very long... Hope you feel better asap... :grouphug:

...Hopefully he will be allowed home today.

No sunshine for me today ~ it's pouring with rain.

I just remembered I've got Tesco's shopping being delivered this morning. My heads all over the place at the minute with the lack of sleep.
Fingers crossed for your Dad, Claire...

And I hope that rain clears...

Ive got a busy day today, ive got 8 kids but they are all in and out all day so its going to be difficult to get out to do much !

On the plus side my kids slept out last night and i dont expect them back for a few hours yet ;)
Sounds hectic, Nat!!! Did you enjoy the film???

Today I'm on 'stand-by' to pick up my almost-80-year-old MIL from Eastbourne where she's been hospitalised whilst on a coach trip. :headache: She only left Birmingham on Monday. Seems she didn't feel well prior to the trip but opted not to tell anyone and travel anyway - "I've paid therefore I'm going"... So, after terrifying her equally aged travelling companion, she was hospitalised on Tuesday with a temperature of 41 degrees FGS  and has been there ever since. She's being discharged later today and plans to travel back with her coach party tomorrow because - wait for it - she likes the driver!!! :faint: My DH is tearing his hair out as he wants to go and collect her but has a million things on at work so I've offered. BUT my car's a 2 seater with bucket seats so maybe not the best thing... Ah well, we'll have to wait and see...

Meanwhile, I shall be continuing to add to/refine the schedule of works provided by my builder... :goodvibes

I didn't get the job, all 3 posts were filled by internal/council candidates (including one who is stepping down from a higher paid role) so I probably never stood a chance to begin with :headache: I was told at lunchtime so it was tough getting through the rest of the day, glad I was on an early and finished at 3! I was told why I didn't get it but I honestly think I could have been the best person they interviewed and still wouldn't have...
I have been offered to continue my placement there til December, possibly Easter, which i've agreed to and will probably be more happy about once I feel less bitter :sad1:
That's my pity party out of the way now, as you were! ;) :upsidedow It's times like this i'm soo glad I have a holiday to look forward to :)

Sorry to hear you didn't get the job:hug:

I took the girls to the cinema this morning, we watched G Force :) and then headed over to McDonalds before going to visit Dh in hospital, then home to wash the car and cook tea, before going back to the hospital.
Claire I hope your dad is starting to improve?

Hope your DH is feeling better:hug:

No plans today other than go pick up my mum & then visit my dad this afternoon.

Hope the sun comes out today.

Hope your dad is still imporving Claire:goodvibes

I've got a project due in for work tomorrow so its not the best timing

Hope you feel better soon:hug:

Hope your MIL is feeling better, sounds like she had an infection. Bless her about wanting to continue the holiday:rotfl2:

Sounds hectic, Nat!!! Did you enjoy the film???

it is hectic, they are a good bunch of kids tho !

yes i did enjoy the film, i found myself wondering how much the plot deviated from the original, they relied heavily on the use of the internet to move the story along and that obviously wasnt a factor in the original film.

Hope your MIL is feeling better, sounds like she had an infection. Bless her about wanting to continue the holiday:rotfl2:
I don't think anyone is 'blessing' her TBH. ;) My SIL is frantic up in Birmingham - she didn't have a clue until the hospital contacted her and told her off for letting MIL travel in the first place...

OMG, ladies!!! 5am!!! :faint: If I wake up then (it's when DH gets up for work) I slap on the eyemask and FORCE myself back to the land of Nod!!! :lmao::rotfl::lmao:

I did try to go back to sleep but I didn't manage it and was worried that I'd wake hubby up as he still has half hour before his alarm went off.

Blimey, I hope it didn't ruin your holiday too much.

Still waitng to hear what the doctor says this morning...he is convinced he will be coming home, I hope he can as he hates being in hospital.

The rain has stopped but its very grey & miserable out.

I hope your MIL is feeling better today hun. They can be so funny & stubborn at that age they are worse than kids ;)...my grandparents all were, bless them.

Actually I was probably in the best place as I could just give in and rest without feeling I should be doing stuff. I was completely out of it for two days and then spent another three days recovering...

Poor man - I really hope he gets to come home as it sounds like being in hospital is stressful for him...

IKWYM, my lovely grandparents were too but TBH the 'other' Mrs Taylor is different - she's a cold, mean-spirited individual who takes the concept of selfishness to a whole new level. I know I sound like a cynical witch but believe me, it's based on 30+ years of knowing her and observing her in action... The sad thing is my SIL will be dealing the after effects of this situation for ages... :sad2:

I suppose it was a good thing it happened there then as at least you could relax as you didn't have a park to tour like next month. ;)

:banana::banana: My mum just called to say he can come home now and then someone just needs to pop to the hospital tonight to pick up all his prescriptions. My sister is going to get him as she is only 5 mins away & it will be an hour & a half round trip for me.

As I now have an unexpected free afternoon I am going to relax & maybe have an afternoon nap - I feel so tired today!

Lots of sympathy for your SIL.

Dh is still in, the Dr did mention about the possibilty of him being allowed home today if his blood's were better, but unfortunately he never came back to discuss them :rolleyes1 But I don't really think he look's well enough :confused3

Morning Guys

Sorry I didn't keep up with this thread yesterday, but I had a bit of a scare last night (just what I need 24 hours before my hols !!). I had an awful headache, I couldn't look at my laptop screen, as it was too bright, and I felt sick

Convinced I was coming down with swine-flu, I had an early night, and thank goodness I feel a lot better this morning - phew !!!

I've got a busy day today. I've got to finish off the packing, do on-line check-in and get my nails done this morning .. then hopefully we'll be on our way to Manchester airport around tea-time

Have a nice day everyone :thumbsup2

Good Morning everyone :goodvibes

Im back at work today after my DLP trip

Mandy I hope you are OK and enjoy your holiday
