General chit chat thread.

I'm so excited i managed to wallpaper half my lounge today. My dad should be coming round to hang the fancy wallpaper at the weekend.

I now have to pain the lining paper and im not sure what colour to go for. I will be having a brown theme going on in there.

I didn't get the job, all 3 posts were filled by internal/council candidates (including one who is stepping down from a higher paid role) so I probably never stood a chance to begin with :headache: I was told at lunchtime so it was tough getting through the rest of the day, glad I was on an early and finished at 3! I was told why I didn't get it but I honestly think I could have been the best person they interviewed and still wouldn't have...
I have been offered to continue my placement there til December, possibly Easter, which i've agreed to and will probably be more happy about once I feel less bitter :sad1:
That's my pity party out of the way now, as you were! ;) :upsidedow It's times like this i'm soo glad I have a holiday to look forward to :)

 So sorry to hear that you didn't get the job Lizzy

Well done Emma, I'm impressed :thumbsup2

Give our best wishes to your dad Claire

Thanks Nat. He was very tired today & felt light headed, he had a nap while we were there & felt a little better after. He is still hoping to come home tomorrow but I don't think he'll be able to as he has just under 20 hours of meds left on the drip...but he is praying! ;)

I'm resigned to the stress, Claire - it's a huge job and I know it's going to be tough as I reckon they'll be around for 6 months!!! :headache: :faint:  Over the weekend Richard has got to empty the garage and sheds that they'll be demolishing to build the extension. He's negotiated a fee with youngest DS for additional help and I'll be overseeing of course, but moving stuff out of the spooky spider-infested glory hole is definitely not a job for someone with my skillset... ;) :rolleyes1

You wouldn't catch me anywhere near the spider infested shed! :scared1: :sad2:

I think we had the builders/kitchen & bathroom fitters in for around 8 months in total....drove me crazy!

So sorry to hear that. I am sure something better will come along for you. :wizard:

Thanks for the well wishes guys, I don't have tons of other people I can (or want...) to tell so i'm very glad of this thread. Sorry for doing a bit of a 'hit and run' on it... Been so focused on my own stuff I haven't thought to acknowledge anyone else's :grouphug: I'm happy to know I have work sorted at the same place (despite how I feel at the moment I do really enjoy working there) til December and I know they've taken on supply staff full-time in the past (not through normal recruitment, but 'bought' them from the agency) so that's a possibility. I do OK financially through the agency, I just feel like the eternal temp sometimes!

I took the girls to the cinema this morning, we watched G Force :) and then headed over to McDonalds before going to visit Dh in hospital, then home to wash the car and cook tea, before going back to the hospital.
Claire I hope your dad is starting to improve?

Thanks Karen. I hope your hubby gets better soon too. :wizard:

Morning all. Well I was awake at 5am this morning again, I can't sleep lately. :sad2:

No plans today other than go pick up my mum & then visit my dad this afternoon.

Hope the sun comes out today.

Morning all - I'm not sleeping well either Claire, always awake by 5am.

It's a beautiful morning here though so worth it today :)

Morning ,
Heavy rain fall expected here today , it's very dark this morning so i don't think it's going to be long before the heavens open.
Hairdresser coming this morning to give me a trim . Not going anywhere today so might scan some photo's & do a little scrapbooking.

Aaaagh I think I have swine flu (or some other flu). Came home from work yesterday going dizzy, hot and achy and I just seem to have got worse. DF phoned the hotline for me this morning and they think its swine flu and have prescribed tamiflu (I have asthma). So DISing in bed for me - my brain seems to still work but I can't seem to do anything?

I've got a project due in for work tomorrow so its not the best timing
