General chit chat thread.

Glad its just a cold Libby, hope you get over it quickly. I would avoid the cinema though, if you are run down you are probably more like to catch swine flu from a public place, plus you will prob scare the person next to you :lmao:

Problem solved - DD is now going with her friend instead of with me. I'd love to see the film but I'm sure it will still be on somewhere when we get back from WDW. We might even see it over there although DS is planning to see G-force.

Well im back from swimming, ive got a nice cuppa and im just chilling for a bit before starting the dinner

We went to Nandos for lunch and also had a cheese cake at cafe nero which was yummy. Just been playing shops with DD she is now quietly drawing.

Trying to keep busy over the holidays with days out as we are not going on holiday. On Wednesday we went to gullivers world and knowsley safari park which was fun though Gulliver's world was very run down, wished I had spent the extra to go to Alton towers. Tomorrow we are going to Delamere Forest.
I'm planning on taking DD to some of the free museums in Manchester on Monday for a day out, hopefully they will have some activities on as its the holidays. Going to get the train to Chester over the holidays too and do a boat ride and a walk around the walls.

I'm feeling old - I remember when museums didn't open on a Monday.
I also remember half-day closing - when I mentioned this to a student teacher she'd never heard of this. LOL!!

Sunday's were soooooooo boring back then ::yes::

I thought Gullivers World was very run down last time we went as well.

Have you taken her to Dunham Massey or any of the other NT places near Manchester? They are favourites of mine

John Lewis in Oxford Street used to be shut on a Monday and on a Saturday afternoon even as recently as the 1980s. (Not that some of you will think the 1980s as recent!!!)

I don't drive so limited to public transport during the week so trying to look at places we can get to on bus or train which don't take to long. Though we can go Dunhmam Massey and some other parks at a week end when DBF is not working. We go to Tattan Park a lot so will be nice to go to some different places.

DD likes the look of the Manchester Museum and the whitworth gallery is doing art activities during august and will probably go to the science and industry, all are free which is good.

I can remember when I was a child all the shops in our village closed on a Wednesday afternoon and all day Sunday. I can also remember how excited everyone was when a One Stop was built in the village, it was the first convenience store and it was open Sundays! Wow we didn't have much to look forward to back then! :rotfl2:

Well my 2 DD's have finished for their summer hols today and the bickering has begun ;) or should I say it just continues :rolleyes1

with all the talk on Swine flu, I went to Morrison's today and coughed and saw a guy nudge his wife and comment "there you go, it's here", I was so shocked, ok yes I had a cold last week and did feel off for a day, but it wasn't flu, what with my heart problems at the moment this is the last thing I want or need!!, but I found it really hard not to cough again whilst in there......:rotfl2:

Our nearest John Lewis used to be closed on Mondays until about 7 years ago!

Anyone been farming world?

We were meant to be going Drusilla's next week but we may leave that for Kyra's Birthday.

Morning everyone

I can't believe I'm up early again ;)

Last night it was Western Night at the Lakeside Bowling (where Kerry works), and you could play the roulette wheel for drinks. We won 2 bacardi & cokes, a pint of lager, 2 blue WKD's and a Smirnoff Ice (not all for me may I add :rotfl2:) for just a fiver - what a great night we had ::yes::

What are you up to today ?

We haven't got any plans, but thankfully the sun is out, so maybe if we're lucky we'll get to sit out in the garden

Have a lovely day everyone :thumbsup2

The sun is shining here!

I'm still feeling grotty with my cold - it's day 3 so things should improve soon.

Getting my pre-holiday haircut this morning and then off to Kingston to get some last minute bits and pieces (including a new i-pod for DS - DH wants to ask advice at Apple shop first, but I think I'm going to have to pay out - I was only trying to be a good mother by washing DS jeans!)

Morning all :goodvibes

the sun is here, so we are going to do some shopping this morning

Good Morning

The sun is shining here as well

I want to try and get things sorted today for our next DLP trip (we leave on Thursday)
