I am feeling much better thanks Natalie. Just have a swollen gland still which hurts but everything else is ok.


We are having a huge thunder storm at the minute......the dogs don't seem bothered by it thankfully.

I am so sad watching Fern's last day - I wish she wasn't leaving.

This part of the country seems to be lucky so far although a tourist died of it in Inverness Hospital a couple of days ago. She did have health issues though.

It is like waiting for a timb bomb to go off!!!!!

Once you have had it - can you not get it again?

I was asked this earlier this week, I don't know if anyone actually knows yet. I think you can unless you have the vaccination which is on the way

Kyra's school has confirmed outbreaks of swine flu, also one of the schools near us one of the children died from it so im unstandably worried. Do i keep Kyra in school for the last 3 days or just keep her home and become hermits?

I have just had a look at the story. The child who died hasn't been confirmed as having swine flu just that they went to hospital with lots of complications

DD19 has gone to London today with her friend and they are going to do some of the museums, i tried to get her to call it off but she wouldn't.

It was my last morning at work today. Feel a bit sad now. I have applied for so many jobs and not a thing back from any of them. What a joke.

My DD school has two confirmed cases and loads of healthy children were kept off who didn't have flu just in case. The advice is to send the children to school as it is likely they could be cases confirmed at schools each week during the autum and winter term and so you could end up keeping the children off for the rest of the year.
It doesn't seem to be spreading at my DD school though as these cases were two weeks ago and no more since.

I know what you mean, when I finished uni I wrote to hundreds of places & only got a couple of replies. I just think its rude. I do appreciate they are busy etc but a standard reply would have suited me at least it would have been an acknowlegement. Fingers crossed something will come up

It is terrible that most companies don't bother replying. I used to be in HR & made sure I sent a letter for every applicant. I hope something comes up for you soon.

Try not to worry hun. My nephew had it last weekend & 3 others in his class, they are all fine now. A lot of children will get it & unless there are other health issues such as asthma etc then I don't think it's much to worry about.

Oh I am getting SO paranoid of this flu!!
I really need to get it in the next 9 weeks! As if I don;t I think it;s pretty guranteed I'll get it on holiday.

Here's hoping I get it at bluewater tomorrow!

You are as bad as me but my senario is that it spreads so much between now and holiday time that all the planes are grounded and they wont let us out of the country

I'm guessing in that scenario we can reschdule though - for after the vaccine!

thats very sad i think its important not to panic though, a lot of people who just have a bad cold are going round saying they have swine flu in our area ! its not helpful and just adds to the general panic.

Yeah, I had that cold last week. Was wondering if it was swine for a day or two, but it certainly was jsut a cold and not flu as I didn't have a fever.

Oh I totally agree....it is being blown out of all proportion, newspapers aren't helping when printing stories like 65,000 will die of it.

Next thing you know the government will be putting taxes up because of it.
