We have a couple of geese that stop by our pond occasionally. This year they decided to have a family at our pond. The two adult geese and their three babies are making a huge mess in my backyard. Are they going to leave once the goslings get older? (Please say yes, please say yes.)

:rotfl2:What kind of geese? White Embdens? Maybe Canadian or Mallards?
They may come back and nest next spring, are you feeding them?
These are pertinant questions. The gosslings will probably leave when they are old enough. Depends on the type, domestic or wild?

We've got some Canadian geese that have nested on our pond, and they honk all night long. It's not a normal honk, it's more of a Wendy-Whiner type honk.

It's driving me crazy. Not that it's a long road trip anyway. :rotfl:

They will not leave if they have a food source. Do not feed them.

even if you don't feed them they may have a natural food source if you live on/near a body of water. this is the case where my parents live (they don't feed them) and the geese are a permanant fixture.

You need a dog! Especially if your geese are the Canadian ones. They are very tenacious critters that eat grass. They'll settle near any place with big lawns.

They're scared of dogs, though, and will move out if you have a big one that likes to chase them.

I think they are Canadian. (looked them up on the net)

The neighbors feed them every day. I admit I have fed them a couple of times myself.

We have all 3 types here, 4 Embden, 20 or more Canadian and several Mallards, all but the Embdens have gosslings this year. They come and go, but we live on a lake. My neighbor feeds them, we have large yards so no one cares much about their"gifts" on the lawn. The Canadians migrate, there is a large brown and white one that stays year around, I think the Embdens will be here permanently. There were 5 Embdens but one fell on his head, and died. That was really weird.
