Geen Yight - She's Out of Sight: A Trip of Leaps and Bounds

Yay!!!!!!!!! for your trip being so close! :cool1: I saw Jill posted the countdown on fb and thought I better get over here and get caught up. Loving all the shopping and parade pics! Great DISmeet pics, too! My bff was in Atlanta that same weekend visiting her sister...don't think I didn't consider jumping in her car so I could make the meet. ;) However, I'm glad I stayed in town that weekend - it was my birthday weekend so we had some bday celebrations, and then, sadly, my grandmother passed away. I'm always going to miss her but I'm content and at peace with the fact that she had a very nice, very long life (95 years old), the love of a great family (3 kids, 5 grandkids, 11 great-grandkids, and 2 great-great-grandkids, and another on the way), and a very peaceful passing.

Now, did I see you write something about a coconut cake?? With Eagle brand? And Coco Lopez??!!!! :faint: First of all, I didn't even know they had Coco Lopez anywhere else! We are big-time Coco fans! We've never been able to find it in Orlando and we usually take at least a dozen cans when we go up. We love having pina coladas or we just make up drinks with it...on our last trip we came up with a nutella, banana, coco lopez milkshake - DELISH! Well, secondly...would you possibly still have that coconut cake recipe and be willing to share? :flower3:

Have a safe drive to your girlies and enjoy your time with them, and your visit from Anita and her boys! :goodvibes

That's what they did at Old Key West. Our room was really far from the Hospitality House, but right next to a pool that had a little snack bar you could get a refill from. It was perfect!

Very nice. It's a reasonable idea for any resort that is so large and spread out.

Must congratulate you on the teens!!!

I'm still craving fudge now. I even made a cake over the weekend and have been eating the leftovers. Nope, not good enough. I'm going to have to get some fudge soon. Even if it's not Disney fudge (gasp!).

We stayed at CBR before our first Disney Cruise in January 2009 - that was the trip that I planned on the DIS with my snowbird buddies. We loved it!!! Even though my MIL complained that everything was so far.
Didn't bother me at all. I enjoyed walking around that resort!! The food court was great too - lots of options for everyone. I have heard horrible things about Shutters, the TS restaurant there though. Never tried it.
The kids loved the pools!

In our mall that got flooded, there was a place called Rocky Mountain Fudge Factory. They had so many yummy things. We would sometimes go in for a treat, and it felt a little like being in the Confectionary at Disney World. :earsboy: :earsgirl:

I heard the DIS podcast about a bad experience at Shutters, but I'd still like to try it myself one of these days. We want to try all the restaurants at some point. I figure I'll make it to most of them, but I doubt I'll ever to get to Victoria & Albert's. That's way out of my league. ;)

Yay for the teens and the countdown calendar is so cute!! I have always said I wanted to do one but I always forget!

I bet you and Hollie could have a blast together creating a countdown calendar. Most little girls love to use colored paper, scissors, glue, and stickers. She could make quite a masterpiece, I bet!

CBR is where we stayed on our first trip! I really don't remember anything of it (just POR, back when it was Dixie Landings) but I love seeing pictures from there.

Have a great time in Alabama with your girls!

Maybe you could find a picture of a young Meg at CBR? I know we'd love to see it!

Did your dad have his 'special' glasses way back then?

I am going to AL about mid-morning. I am looking forward to seeing Brooklynn's swimming lesson this afternoon.

It was so good to get on here and see your name again!

I am glad you have the attitude you do about your grandmother. I know she delighted in having her family around her.

The cake is simple. Poke fairly good-sized holes in a yellow cake, then pour the Coco over it, and then the Eagle Brand. Top with Cool Whip and coconut. Let it sit for a day and soak in good before you serve it. It is good stuff!

I will be thinking of Anita and the guys as they have the long drive ahead of them today. I think we'll be eating at Red Robin, since that's Brooklynn's go-to eatery. :cutie:

Those were our treasures from the newest packet of little figures.

We had had a fun trip, but Mickey's bosses were now telling us we had to go home and let someone else come and have some fun.

IMG_1670.jpg

We spent the morning gathering up our things from all about the room. I took Bella out for a walk while Jill got Brooklynn moving and she and Kay did the double checking of all the nooks and crannies.

From Classic Hall.

These might be the suitcases Wigd needs from this trip to bring back her many treasures. I will not be surprised if this is being pulled behind their car when we see them tonight.

Here they come!

IMG_1675.jpg

Brooklynn was still not fully awake, as you can see. ;)
Bella pops up with a smile, and Brooklynn thinks about waking up for an hour or so and smiles a bit later. They have very different styles of 'morningness'.

We were storing our things at Luggage Services at Pop and then heading off to Epcot for Opening Day of the Flower and Garden Festival.

We grabbed some breakfast,

and then got to the bus stop.

IMG_1681.jpg

The girls enjoyed a rousing game of 'wozie' while we waited for the bus.

Next time - our half-day at Epcot.

Bella looks like she's getting ready to build something totally awesome with those!

Boo, last day!! That always stinks, doesn't it? I hate packing up at the end of the trip and trying to fit everything BACK into the suitcases .

She would have enjoyed staying there for a while, I know. She probably would have built a big climbing wall.

Last days are no good. I like first days so much better! :thumbsup2

Happy news on the old Disney movie front: I went out and got yesterday's mail a minute ago, and my movies were in there. :cool1: I have Summer Magic on right now, and I am going to take it to AL to see if Brooklynn will be interested in watching it, too.

Piece of trivia on this movie - the young son, Peter, was played by Beaver Cleaver's little brother.

Yeah, I lead an ultra exciting life. :upsidedow

Boo for the last day. :( At least your next trip is very, very close. I always love how you manage to time your TRs to end just as your next trip is beginning. :goodvibes

Now, I want to watch Summer Magic again! Have you ever seen The Happiest Millionaire with Fred MacMurray? It was made by Disney in 1967 and is so cute! I loved that movie when I was younger and watched it over and over again.

I hate to see the trip end. I found myself saying, "Oh no!" when I saw the suitcase picture with the note of doom on it. I literally said it out loud as if it was happening to you just now! That's a rotten feeling for sure, but at least you always know that you are coming back soon. That must help a lot. Can't wait for F&G pics... never can get enough of those.

You've probably already mentioned this (so forgive me :flower3: ) but are you flying on this next trip or driving?

Happy travels today to AL! It will be a fun day for everyone!

Oh...I'm so jealous of Red Robin.....great choice Brooklynn! :thumbsup2

I would love to be there tonight to hear all about Wig'd's trip.
She must have lots of pics from 3 weeks and many shopping bags too! :)

:grouphug: for the last day of your TR.
I don't think anyone likes to pack up and leave thier Disney home away from home.

This day was bitter sweet for me too since it was suppose to be my arrival day and we were going to meet. :sad2:

We now have NYE so I'm okay with that. :yay:

Mmmmn, that coconut cake recipe sounds delicious! ;)

Boo to the ME folder! :(

But on the bright side, now just a few weeks from going again!!! :) :) Yea!!!

I always dread the last day.:sad2:

Safe travels to AL today. I hope you have a great visit with your girls.

Stupid ME folder telling you it's time to go home - I don't like that thing at all. And they try to make it all cheery with a smiling Mickey on the front of it, I just wanna do this :sad1: when I see it!

I am going to AL about mid-morning. I am looking forward to seeing Brooklynn's swimming lesson this afternoon.

Oh, definitely! I'll see if I can find the album & take some pictures of the pictures (I'm not entirely sure how to work the scanner that is part of my printer but I guess that's why I have a decent camera, right?)

No "special" glasses back then! & I'm not sure if I mentioned, but the glasses were lost or broken or both when he was off-roading with his Jeep friends a while ago. :( I think he had to check something under his Jeep & was on his back on the ground, & the glasses fell out of his pocket. I can't remember exactly why he had them with him to go off-roading. I think he wanted to show them off.

Boo to having to go home! Don't you just wish you could stay there all the time and do nothing but visit the parks!!

Luckily, you will be back there before you know it! :)

Booo to your last day.....but happy you had a later flight so that you can enjoy another day. I am a big fan of later flying days. :thumbsup2
Love all of the touches around Pop...such a fun and colorful place :)
I have different types of morningness too....when I am in Disney I pop up with a smile every day...when I am home, not so much ;)

Enjoy Red Robin tonight....great burgers and fried zucchini. Let us know if Anita and Marc really do have the Pop luggage hooked up to their car.

We never like to see this little gem hanging on our doors, do we?:sad2::sad2:

I hope that you have a wonderful time seeing your girls this weekend! Have a safe trip!

I love The Happiest Millionaire. I actually bought it a few years ago.

MeMom, have fun in Alabama with Jill, the girls, Anita and family.

So sad to see this trip end :( But just think in no time it will be time to start a whole new TR!!! 21 days here!!! Getting super excited!!! Have a fabulous trip to AL!!!!

Marc rolled his eyes when I showed him the POP luggage photo!!!
I know he was wishing for one this morning as he loaded the car. With all our junk on the curb at BLT we got looks and comments!
Not one picture was taken, he was in no mood for my humor.....LoL!!!

How exciting that you get to see your girls and Disney travelers today!

I am not normally a breakfast lover but I do love Pop Century breakfast. Are you all staying at Pop this trip? I forgot. Sorry to hear that some of your group will not be able to go. Who do you have to leave behind?

It keeps me going to stretch one trip out long enough to be ready to go on the next one. When we're nearing the end, and I am recalling the sadness of leaving, it is overpowered by the happiness of going again. :thumbsup2

Yep, that one is on my list, too. There are many, but I'll have to get 1-2 at a time for my collection. I was singing right along to the summer Magic songs this morning.

We should be okay for the rest of 2011, but when we get to the long dry spell from New Year's to summer, we may be in trouble. ;)

We are driving this time. We're hoping to leave in the very early hours of Friday morning.

Happy travels today to AL! It will be a fun day for everyone!

I hope they are up for Red Robin. I suppose that could change, but the girls do eat well there. I hope the weary travelers can stay awake long enough to eat.

New Year's Eve will be a party night, indeed!

Boo to the ME folder!

But on the bright side, now just a few weeks from going again!!! Yea!!!

Yep! :dance3:

I'll let you know if they are hauling those big suitcases. :thumbsup2

I always dread the last day.

Safe travels to AL today. I hope you have a great visit with your girls.

I always look away when I see other people rolling their luggage toward their cars or to the front lobby. I don't want to see their sadness.

I am at Jill's house now. I'm sitting here with Ben-dog all sprawled out on the couch beside me. :goodvibes

Stupid ME folder telling you it's time to go home - I don't like that thing at all. And they try to make it all cheery with a smiling Mickey on the front of it, I just wanna do this :sad1: when I see it!

They keep trying to keep us happy with the Magical Express movie, too. I like that they transition us out in a happy way - with the offer to come back real soon!

Oh, definitely! I'll see if I can find the album & take some pictures of the pictures (I'm not entirely sure how to work the scanner that is part of my printer but I guess that's why I have a decent camera, right?)

Ooooh nooo! Not the glasses!

We'll look forward to the pictures. :)

Boo to having to go home! Don't you just wish you could stay there all the time and do nothing but visit the parks!!

Luckily, you will be back there before you know it!

I would like to go more often. Every other month, maybe. I don't want it to get old, but even at 3-4 times a year, I'm still every bit as excited for the upcoming trip as ever.

I invited Happydog to meet us at Wilderness Lodge, too. She added on a couple of days, so I hope they can make it.

Booo to your last day.....but happy you had a later flight so that you can enjoy another day. I am a big fan of later flying days.

Tracy

Earliest flight down and latest flight back home - works for me. :goodvibes

I have not had the fried zucchini.

I hope that you have a wonderful time seeing your girls this weekend! Have a safe trip!

I will. I'm going to see Brooklynn take swimming lessons in a little while.

I love The Happiest Millionaire. I actually bought it a few years ago.

MeMom, have fun in Alabama with Jill, the girls, Anita and family.

There are so many good old movies. I decided I am going to start buying a few here and there. When I am way old, I can sit around and enjoy them immensely.

So sad to see this trip end But just think in no time it will be time to start a whole new TR!!! 21 days here!!! Getting super excited!!! Have a fabulous trip to AL!!!!

Two weeks from day after tomorrow for us. :)
Are we overlapping? I haven't stopped to figure it out?

Marc rolled his eyes when I showed him the POP luggage photo!!!
I know he was wishing for one this morning as he loaded the car. With all our junk on the curb at BLT we got looks and comments!
Not one picture was taken, he was in no mood for my humor.....LoL!!!

Keep your eyes on the road, Marc!
We might should sneak your Disney Store package into the car while he's eating. He might not be able to take the pressure of putting anything else in the car.

How exciting that you get to see your girls and Disney travelers today!

I am not normally a breakfast lover but I do love Pop Century breakfast. Are you all staying at Pop this trip? I forgot. Sorry to hear that some of your group will not be able to go. Who do you have to leave behind?

Yes, we are at Pop. The only ones going are Jill's family and me. The boys have work obligations. I am hoping they can go at Christmas time. :santa:
