Gee Whiz, we wish we had the time...wait, we do!!!!!!

I always miss all the fun - laughing gas and a pity party all in one weekend! Good luck Pakey (sorry if I'm late).

We had a terrible storm on the East Coast last Friday. I can't believe what happened to "my" beach!

Here it was in September:

and look at it on Saturday :scared1:

We couldn't even get onto the beach where we spent all our summer weekends, the dunes were washed away and it was a sheer drop down to the beach :sad2:

Holy Smoke, Snap! That was quite a storm! It's so sad to see your favorite place in shambles. It was so alien to see the beach we go to after Ike hit.

Wish me luck. DH needs me to go to San Antonio today to pick something up for him. Since we're making the drive, the kids and I are also going to the zoo. This is the first trip to something like this by myself with all five. No relatives in sight.

Have fun! How long a drive is it? Are you bringing a camera :rolleyes1

I just realized you said "all 5" :worship::worship: You are a goddess among women :woohoo:

Kerrie, you are more than a goddess. I hope all 6 of you have a great time. Don't let DD2 anywhere near the big cat enclosures.

Hunky oncologist told me I need to lose 20 pounds and to not work more than 5 days a week. And I said "yeah right" to both. Then he told me his wife makes homemade bread and then I knew without a doubt he'd never dump her for me (I can't even put together a bowl of cheerios). So I took my misery and went to Cheesecake Factory and ate enough to gain 2 pounds.

Snap, sorry to see your beach looking like that.

Snap, it's weird because further up near NYC where I am, we got next to nothing from that storm. It all stayed South. Such a sad sight when the beaches look like that.

Good luck Kerrie. I'm sure you're in the middle of the mayhem right now, as I write. :lmao:

Pakey, sorry to hear that the love of your life has rejected you for a loaf of bread. That's just so wrong. However, there's nothing like losing yourself in a good meal to ease the pain. Back to reality and the house slipper family for you.

PrincessK made yet another visit to the doctor this morning. Still running a fever and has a horrible cough. Apparently 3 days of antibiotics did nothing for her. He tested her again for flu and it came back negative. I told him her best friend was diagnosed (by him) yesterday with flu and they sit next to each other in school. The kid whose desk she sits in for most of her classes went home sick with the flu last week. As of yesterday, there were 8 kids out sick and another 4 went home sick. He's now switched her to Tamiflu and hopes that will work. On her school note he listed her as having "viral syndrome". I guess that's his way of saying he doesn't have a clue what's wrong with her. :rolleyes1

Hope your PrincessK feels better soon. At least she will hopefully get over this and have immunity during the holiday season.

Home again, home again.....

PK, I hope you're DD recovers soon. Those mystery illnesses drive me crazy.

I hope you're right Snap.

So Kerrie, how did it go with 5 wee ones at the zoo?

Super duper! I take all 5 with me shopping and doctors appts, so I don't know why I was worried about the zoo. I guess because there are usually lots of people. Not today! The kids had a wonderful time. I pretty much had to drag them out after 4 1/2 hours. The youngest 3 were tired, but the 2 oldest wanted to stay. I didn't bring the double stroller, but DD2 did suprisingly well walking most of the time. Towards the end, I carried her some and DD10 pushed the baby. DD2 tried climbing some of the walls to better see the animals. :sad2: Quite the handfull, that one! We did get some educational things in and tomorrow they have to write something about the zoo. DD4 only has to draw a picture since she can't really write, yet. I have a wonderful picture of a hippo bahookie!

Somehow I think she's the type that the animals would actually love and protect from harm. Like a little Tarzan girl.

Now, as for that hippo bahookie -- WE NEED PICS!

Update! I took Andy to a different doctor yesterday. I picked right -- it turns out this guy is the team doctor for our high school football team, and operated on our band teacher (whom we know well) last week. We didn't tell him that Andy had an anxiety issue last year, because I found out that once I mentioned that, the doctors assumed it was anxiety and told him to go to school rather than trying to find out why he's having pain. This doctor did xrays, asked about family history and ordered blood tests for rheumatoid arthritis (I may have some weird variant, and definitely have severe joint and cartilage issues), and is doing another MRI (last one was done nearly a year ago). He immediately suggested a home tutor, filled out the form and sent it back -- the school district actually moved their bahookies and we start tomorrow with a tutor. I feel slightly relieved. I don't like the prospect of paying even our portion of all these tests, but if it gets the boy fixed, it's worth it.

I know this isn't the most serious problem in the world (sorry, Pakey, you've mentioned your doctor visits and I'm sure it's more serious for you than him), but still, it's consuming what little life I do have -- I don't think seeing doctors constitutes contact with adults -- and I'd sure like to know that this child will actually go to high school next year, instead of repeating 8th grade. Maybe there's a light at the end of this stinky tunnel.

In the meantime, the boys are having a fairly one-sided friendly fight in the other room -- much better than the non-friendly fight they had last week. Ooh! and the big one's taking the garbage out with out being asked. Maybe there's hope yet.

Erin

Erin, have you seen my griping and whining about my DD being sick? :rotfl: She either has an upper respiratory or the flu. That by no means even registers on the same chart as you and Pakey. Please don't feel like your health issues aren't important. That's the point of this thread. If it bothers you, amuses you or annoys you, feel free to post about it.

Erin, I'm glad you are on the road to answers. Don't ever feel you can't post ANYTHING here. My goodness, I whine about being allergic to apples! ;)

I'm up early, trying to decide if I want to visit my sisters today. Lately I've been feeling like I have arthritis all over, and mornings HURT! I keep putting off my doctor's appointment, hoping it will get better.

So what do you all have planned for today? :surfweb::surfweb:

DD10 is allergic to apples. If she eats only a few slices, she's fine. But, she likes to eat a lot of apples to turn her face all red, blotchy, and hot. Why would you want to do that?

Sorry your mornings hurt.

Erin, please feel free at all times to post whatever you want and I promise you, I won't consider it whining. Heck, I whine more that hunky oncologist isn't going to throw his wife over for me. That's much more serious than the cancer. :rotfl: And I'm sure you know this to be true, the things with our kids are always a bigger deal than the things we deal with ourselves.

Kerrie, glad you had so much fun at the zoo. I love going to the zoo. I remember once taking my niece and nephew on a day when all of the animals were "doing it". Seriously, they must have put vicodin in their water or something. My nephew was kind of like your DD2 and it was a really long day at the zoo, let me tell you. :lmao:

PK, I hope your princess is feeling better soon. Princesses should never be sick.

Snap, my cancer medication has a side effect of joint pain. I have some days where I can't hardly walk because my ankles and knees hurt so bad. My husband calls me Tim Conway (he was a comedian on the Carol Burnett show who did a skit as an old man who could barely move). My hands are the worst and you should see my signature at work when I'm signing hundreds of checks. It would be so easy to forge, it's not much more than a big "x". :rotfl: Seriously, you should see a doctor. There is medication that you could get to ease that pain.

Now, where is the hippo bahookie?????

IMG_2110.jpg

The kids were very excited because the hippo also pooped underwater for them to see. What a nice hippo! :rotfl2:

You know, all of us are forever changed because of Scotlass. I'm constantly looking at bahookies now, thinking of the "art" in one, etc.

Thanks, Scotlass.

Afternoon all! I'm on day 3 of being out of work, but I think we might have turned the corner on this thing.

Gotta say, nothing like a good bahookie shot to start my DIS day. But where's the pic of the poop? Like they ask on David Letterman, did it sink or float? :rotfl:

To everyone who is aching and hurting, hugs and prayers for each of you. Since I personally don't have an illness at the moment, if feel obligated to share that I'm having half of my toenail cut out next Tuesday. Does that count? :lmao:
