Well what do you know ... I just received email confirmation of another Waitlist success. This is my third succcessful waitlist for the Grand California this calendar year for a total of 10 nights.

What time of the year did you have wait lists for?

My requests were for long weekends:
1. Late Feb/early March, 4 nights, studio
2. Memorial Day weekend, 3 nights, studio
3. Mid-December, 3 nights, 1BR

I was quite surprised. We are headed to VGC in late January, and we did not even have to waitlist. We got a 1 BR for 5 nights.

The late Feb trip was a "last minute decision." I didn't open the waitlist until after we returned from South Africa ... so it must have been opened ~5 weeks from travel. It matched exactly 30 days from travel.

The Memorial Day weekend trip search was opened on 2/2 and filled on 3/14. I originally booked 4 nights but later dropped one to keep 3 nights. (Documented in the Waitlist thread.)

The Dec waitlist was started in late May (after returning from our Memorial Day weekend visit) and filled 7/7.

love when waitlists come through - since you can't think about it 24 hours a day, every day (or at least try not to), it's such a wonderful surprise when that email unexpectedly arrives.

Thanks for sharing these details! I have a long weekend in early December waitlisted in several combinations (since 10 months out but a studio). Here's hoping your wait list pixie dust will rub off on some other DISsers!
