GCV studios

I am a new DVC member and I own GCV, bought resale. Does anyone know if there are connecting studios available? We only have 160 point and I am trying to make the most out my new purchase. I have young children and I can book either a 1 bedroom or possibly 2 studios for our trips. The price for Fridays and Saturdays are steep! We have stayed at the GC hotel twice and by looking at the pictures on-line, the DVC studios look smaller than some of the standard hotel rooms, any advice would be great!!

No DVC has connecting studios so if you need more room you'll need a 1 or 2 BR. VB is the only one that has something close in that there are a few connecting Inn rooms but that's the only one.

Oh - and the studios are similar or even slightly larger than the average hotel room at GC.

Also the studio is roomy but I think any studio would be tight for more then two people. All the folding and unfolding of the couch. But we stayed there in May of 2010 and the couch was comfy enough to sleep on, DH was sick so I got the couch. We are going in Oct to stay in a 1 bedroom. Keep in mind that has the murphy bed so it sleeps 5 plus a pack n play child under 3.

All VGC studios connect to a 1 bedroom. I stayed in one last May, it was awesome!

The studios are 379 square feet, the hotel rooms are 359. It may seem a little more crowded since there's a mini-kitchen in the studio which the hotel room does not have.

That being said, how long are you planning on staying? I love the studios for points savings; we'll be staying in one in June with my girlfriend and our sons, ages 4 and 5 so we'll be fine for two nights but if it was more than three nights I'd want the 1 bedroom.

The 1 bedroom is 856 square feet, and has the kitchen and washer/dryer, so if you're planning on staying for awhile it is really spacious and feels like your home away from home. It does eat up points though.

What I recommend as point-saving strategy is: if you're doing a short weekend stay, go with studios, if you're going for longer stay try to do a Sun-Thurs (in low season helps) in the 1 bedroom.

Excellent advice taaren. We live in Northern California and will probably take two trips to Disneyland next year. I am currently booked January 2013 (low season) for two nights in a one bedroom over a Saturday and Sunday but I totally agree with your strategy.

There are no connected studios at any DVC property. The studios at VGC are actually among the largest DVC Studios. They are larger than a standard room. (I have stayed several times in both accomodations). The 1 bedrooms are quite roomy and have a cool murphy bed that pulls down from under the TV.
