I'm staying in a DVC unit in December as a surprise birthday trip for hubby. It will be just the two of us, and I thought breakfast in the room one morning would be nice...but then I did some research and it looks like there are literally only 3 options for room service breakfast!

Is that true? Anyone stayed there recently and ordered room service breakfast? Are there really only 3 choices?

I had a hard time believing that so went and looked and it looks like there are only 3. The DLH has a huge list, and GCH only has 3 items. Even PPH has a huge list. I'd call and ask to verify.

For the amount you pay to stay there (even compared to the other two resort hotels that have long lists and options) that is stupid and ridiculous!

I know this isn't what you may want to do but I HIGHLY recommend Steakhouse 55 for Breakfast at the DLH. I made reservations early last year for the first time and my poor hubby was so sick I had to go alone. It was absolutely amazing. Service is great and it is rarely busy , it's like a hidden gem that few take advantage of. Please consider it and the prices are very reasonable !

Cappuccino $4.50

Cafe Mocha $5.00

That isn't the case in regular GCH rooms, we have ordered room service breakfast many times. We like to use the door handle ordering option. I would call and ask if they have the regular breakfast menu available.

BTW: always ask for extra coffee and to go cups with your breakfast room service. :)

I second Steakhouse55 or running down to Whitewater for breakfast 'to go'. IIRC the room service prices for breakfast at DGC are outrageous by the time you add in all the extra charges.

Thank you everyone, for your helpful responses!
I had also considered Steakhouse 55, but I'm also considering that one for a birthday dinner, so not sure I want to eat there twice with so many other options about.

I did some more research and found a far more extensive room service menu for GCH, but it was from 2011. I think I'll have to call and inquire about more recent options....or, just do something else. :)

We tried Steakhouse 55 for breakfast, too, and it was delicious and shockingly affordable for well cooked food. In fact, I was looking at a National Park lodge menu and breakfast is more expensive out on the deserted Washington state coast than at Steakhouse 55!! Room service does make you feel like it is a luxurious vacation though! Have fun!!

We just had room service at the DLH. A cheese pizza all said and done was $24. Breakfast was $50 something for two waffles, 2 muffins, and a side of bacon.

Interesting, we had 2 of the French Toasts with bananas with scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon and sausage plates, and one omelette with potatoes and toast for $54.

I'm at GCH, this is the breakfast menu:

Don't be afraid of ordering off the menu either. I got a great Steak and Eggs combo without a problem.

Yes, there is a full room service breakfast menu available. The door hanger is convenient, and even on that you'll notice the line that says "other items". We've gotten lots of great food delivered via room service; anything you can imagine that a typical full-service hotel would offer.

BTW $9 for a pot of coffee (and if you ask they are pretty generous about giving you another for free) which gives you FOUR adult cups is pretty generous. We like to do the door hang order and have it delivered while we're getting ready. That way as everyone is moving slowly at least I knock out the eating time :)

But $20 for the same brekkie you can get at Steakhouse55 or Whitewater Snacks for $12.99? And that's before you add in the surcharge and tip! Ain't happening for me.

We usually have quick breakfast stuff in the room anyway, we aren't big breakfast eaters. But on our departure day we do have breakfast at S55 with a Bellini to toast our trip AND our promise to return the following year.

We have thought about ordering room service at the DLH as our son has never experienced this, but like someone else mentioned, the food is not the only thing you are paying for. By the time you add in the service charge and the delivery charge it hikes up the price quite a bit. Actually, the prices on the menu aren't that bad, but by the time you add in the extra stuff, we said "no way"! We usually end up eating in the park. We will grab a b-fast sandwich at Starbucks or eat at River Belle Terrace or sometimes we bring muffins and bananas/apples from home to tide us over till lunch.

Its not room service but if someone is willing to run down, we really like the breakfast options at Whitewater Snacks at the GCH. They'll pack it to go with all the necessary condiments and you'll be good to go.
