We are going to GCH May 8 -17 (10 nights). I haven't booked our room yet, because I was holding out for new "Special Offers" to be posted after 3/19 -- after the current (not so) "Special Offer". We have APs, and with that, the rate is a pretty expensive $3196 + tax and stuff. I also am getting a second room for Friday and Saturday the 13th and 14th because I am treating some family that is coming up to visit. So at the current rate that would be $802 extra -- totaling $3998 (ugh).

Should I be booking this now? Do they allow you to rebook with a cheaper rate once it's published? Am I totally stupid for expecting something close to the $228/night rate we had for Halloween?

We are going no matter what. We already have plane tickets, but I am just trying to get the best rate. We only want to stay at GCH. Any suggestions?

I did that last Fall. They gave me the better AP rate with no problem at the GC. I would book now so you are at least guaranteed your rooms and then change if something comes out. Good Luck!

I agree. You can always change, but at least you have a room booked.

You are booking far enough in advance that you can cancel. Make sure you know the cancellation policy for a 100% refund. (Ask when booking.)

If you are going for sure, then you might as well lock in a room so as not to get shut-out if they sell out, right? Then work with rate with canceling or adjusting within the guidelines allowed.

Okay, thanks! So just to clarify, they *do* let you cancel and rebook if it's within a certain time or adjust the rate?

Yes, if you're booking a room only (not a package with tickets) you are allowed to cancel your reservation 5 days before check in with no penalties (they do charge your first night stay when making the reservation, obviously that would be refunded with a cancellation). You can change your rate at anytime. Our last trip was the "whole family" with 3 room reservations and I probably called once a week for a month to make changes (better rates, change of hotel).

..also, you might check travel sites like hotels.com or expedia for rates as I have found those can beat the AP rates. Worth a try...ugh..just checked hotels.com and nightly rate was $394...ack...maybe not..

Yep, the rates right now at the Grand stink. Two Octobers ago, we paid $208/night. This August, even with an AP discount it would be $400/night

IF the price drops you can call back and they will reduce your rate..you do not have to cancel and re-book!

I did this a few weeks ago!
