GCH entrance

We stayed at the GCH from July 18 to July 22. We used that gate at different times of the day and they checked each and every time. While we were waiting to get in one afternoon, there was a woman who had exited from the park through that gate and was trying to get back in and they were telling her she had to use the main entrance. I didn't stick around to find out what happened but it didn't look like the were going to back down.

Does everyone in your party have to show their room key?

I'm usually the only one who carries their room key into the parks. There is no reason for my kids to carry theirs and my wife would prefer not to if she isn't required.

1 key gets in up to 6 people is what we were told. There were only 4 in our group and we just showed the one key.

I don't know what the circumstances were but there are signs on both sides of the gate that clearly state you need a key to re-enter.

well yeah it says that..but if you ask the CM's like id id. they tell you that if you have a recpeit from any one of the eateries(wws,nr,the lounge or stc and i think gift shop counts also) in the GCH you can re-enter DCA....

..yes everyone if you EAT at any place in GCH, you can re-enter DCA with the reciept, because they honor anybody who has spent time at GCH--that means even having a snack at the lounge or WWS!

Mouseplanet reports in their WoC guide that since DLR defines hotel guest as anyone using their amenities that day, if you go and buy a bottle of water/small souvenir from GCH, eat at one of GCH's restaurants, etc. and show your same-day receipt, you can use the entrance. It's apparently had pretty much 100% success rate, although some people reported the attending CM was none too pleased to let them in, although they did (with attitude).

..yep because you spend a x amount of time at GCH they honor that!

That would make sense. If you are going to eat there, why couldn't you use their entrance.

I just heard the conversation as we were walking by them to get into the park. To me it sounded like she had just come in through the gates back into the GCH, and was trying to get back in. What I do know is if you are planning on using that entrance, have your room key with you and/or receipt. It looked like anyone can use it to leave the park, it's just the entering the park that they are cracking down on.

I figured they would let me use that entrance, I just wasn't sure if they would let me use my receipt from breakfast FIRST time in the morning at 9:30. I guess I will find out soon enough.
